Yay, more glamours to be set up! Maybe then I can bind more of my mog station glamours to the dresser, after I go back to Au Ra.
*crosses fingers for at least doubling the existing slots for both*
*finishes reading interview*
YUS!
I still don't have interest in the system until they can be applied anywhere.
why just double the glamour closet and not just give us something like wow has
400 is nothing compared to how many items FFXIV has.
Agree with grinkdaboy. The system needs to be reworked, not a tiny limit increase...
"The amount you can store in the glamour dresser will be doubled from the original 200 to 400, and the number of glamour plates available will also be increased. These updates will come with the launch of Shadowbringers, but we will continue to update the glamour systems in the future as well!"
While I like that SE is addressing this crowd concern, the system as a whole is still terrible. I was very much hoping for a complete overhaul. Perhaps not straight away but maybe in the quieter patches of 5.0.
Wish we were getting a better system, but pleased at the very least our capabilities are expanding.
I’m glad that they’re increasing the amount of glamour plates. 400 is better... I can maybe get rid of an extra retainer and save $2 at least.
Now, let us use said glamour plates everywhere. Or at least in ALL sanctuaries—not just city states and housing districts.
Yay!!! Mor Glamour!
But im my eyes stuck on the Fordola question xd i love her soooo much but i know the jp community didnt like her, so i give up
Hopefully this question make yoshida bring her back
Meh, I've just resorted to using Emperor set as my main glamour for all jobs and classes and just keeping a minimal amount of other sets for the occasional days when I want to look different. No clipping, no body changing, no dyeing, and no storing a lot of glamour required. Of course, I've been known to change my mind (used to have multiple paid retainers for storing just glamour), so something like what WoW has would still be appreciated, but for now, I'm content and it's all good.
well qol changes come odd number patches so im curious to see whats coming beyond the size increase, but i thought of a way to use existing systems to offload gear to the salvager here and itd be a good way to keep dyable af gear from clogging up peoples inventories
...now that i think on it, thats EXACTLY how the garo sets work
I suspect it can't be done without a major rewrite of the inventory/glamour system. The plates have been designed entirely to piggyback on the original system without changing it, and basically trick the older parts of the program into thinking a prism has been applied to the gear.
I don't understand this line of thinking. It's a bit like if people refused to use telephones before the mobile phone was invented, because they can only make a call from a specific location.
The plate system might not do every thing it could do, but it's fantastic at what it does currently do: entire outfits re-glamoured in seconds, as frequently as you like, with no cost or need to carry items. Or if you do want the items, you can put them on a plate and take the base item back out of the dresser.
Correct. Once the item is added to the plate, it's disconnected from the base item - I think it might technically be duplicating it so they're seen as separate items. You can dye the base item without affecting the plate, or remove it from the dresser entirely.
You do need the item in the dresser if you're going to apply it as a single glamour directly from the dresser though. That's useful in some situations.
Nice. Hopefully they will make glamour dressers as a housing item in ShB as well.
Finally! We waited for this!
It's a start :) I have so much dungeon glam I just want to keep and now the garo stuff
Literally jumping for joy about this information! My healers, tanks, and gatherers eat up 9 of the current plates with the last as a catch all for event or whatever. Depending on how many plates are actually added, I could very well give each my crafters a different look. Plus 200 more storage slots will definitely go a long way. I was about to start making some decisions about what's staying and going. Not any more!
Squeee! <3
400 glamour storage is... acceptable for a start. I will certainly hold Yoshi to the promise that further improvements are planned.
Now, if only they could allow us to use glamour plates anywhere that we can use regular prisms, I'll finally be willing to consider the glamour system good. Maybe even better than most.
Still, even though it has a long way to go, I appreciate that they are treating it seriously and that we are getting substantial updates.
I hope it doesnt take an entire expansion for increasing glamour slots. 200 more are better than nothing, but still not enough.
You can only re-buy the items that are attached to the achievement. That means the accessories and shield (I'm pretty sure the shield is one) cannot be replaced after the event ends. And if you aren't able to equip the items because of level and thus not get the achievement, then you won't be able to replace any of it. The Garo stuff needs to be able to be stored in the armoire.
I did read that. It says "still", which I'm assuming the gear you can already get via the calamity salvager will still be available. If they are going to add the accessories to the calamity salvager and any items you got without the title, then great.
Double the glamazon, double the fun! Only my 3rd week of FF14 but this makes me happy like hippo.

I cannot wait. All ten of my plates are being used and I want to make new glams but I don't want to remove the old ones... >.> I have a ton of gearsets that are just glam outfits for various casual occasions which I would LOVE to have on plates instead. I hope the increase to the number of plates is a lot, but honestly I'd be happy even if it just went up by five. It would be a start, at least.
I'm constantly hitting the 200 item limit too, so this is a welcome update. Like others have said, now we just need the ability to apply plates anywhere, and the system will be looking much better. A glam dresser for my house would be a nice QOL improvement too, but I'd rather have the rest first.
Surely the current system of storing each glamour as individual items that can be removed or added is more strain on the servers and dev resources than simply having a catalogue of item appearances that you tick off?
I'm wondering if they just didn't want to copy WoW, to be "unique". Similar to many of their other failed ideas, like Verminion and Eureka instead of Pet battles and Timeless Isle.
it's not that the system isn't better, it's whether it's compatible with the inventory system they have in place right now. Currently the limitation is because of the links between items, the item server and how it handles verification of inventory and how deeply entrenched it is while being based on a very badly conceived system. The inventory system must be redone and is likely far too much of an investment for them to do so. So right now we get bandaids until the current system cannot be stretched and prodded into doing any more and by that point.. maybe FFXVIII Online gets made?
