Post report feed back

Posting here as the report text invited me to do so.

I reported someone with 1 level 70 class, and multiple level 60 classes who had no jobs unlocked whatsoever. I reported them because they had a mentor crown on. After reporting, they still very much have their mentorship.

If someone wants to faff about with almost no abilities thats on them; live your own experience etc etc, but continuing to allow them to act like they have working experience on that account with a disciple of war mentor crown is irresponsible especially after informing you about it.

I used to believe the mentor system was worth something.

After refusing to enforce the quality of your mentor community it has become a joke. Crowns mean nothing. That is my feed back.

I mean it's on SE not the person you reported. The requirements to become a mentor are easy to do. So this person, although he fulfilled SE requirements for mentor, you don't think it's enough. So you reported him. We all knew the mentor program was a joke like the day it came out. It was always easy to get.

Better get them banned too. For good measure.

Unless you have logs of them actually deceiving other players and giving them false advice about jobs and classes, I don't see how this person has done anything reportable? Better to submit a suggestion that the mentor system should have more requirements than to report a player for simply using it as it was designed.

Excuse me, what? What is the issue here? Are you upset someone hasn’t gotten all their jobs to 70? Also you don’t have to have a Burger King crown to give advice or guide someone.

I think he was saying they have no jobs at all, just classes. If someone can figure out how to be a mentor, but have no jobs unlocked, they probably are doing it on purpose for whatever reason. Or is becoming a mentor easy enough to accidentally unlock it? I never looked into it.

Sorry I do have bad phrasing sometimes. Additionally I'm sure all the devil's advocates are not helping my clarity.

I reported them for having NO jobs at all, something that can certainly be considered a griefing or troll based play style. On a good day, seeing a level 70 LANCER in Orbonne will get them kicked. On a regular day they'll be flamed first.

You dont have to have to be a mentor to give advice, no. But a level 70 lancer cannot help anyone.

You have to complete lvl 60 job quest of tank,healer,dps. Otherwise you can level up crafter/gatherer and still become a mentor. I also believe you can switch the icons around no matter how you become a mentor.

You can unequip job-stones. Though yeah what their doing is petty so their bored and want attention, it is easy to ignore.

I’ve never encountered a good mentor, they had a similar system in FFXI. We basically used the mentor mark as a sign of who not to ask for advice about the game. I’m sure there are a few decent ones out there, but honestly some of them are downright terrible or rude to new players. Why get the crown, if you don’t intend to actually help people?

I need to inform you that you can view people's search info and see exactly what classes someone has unlocked, additionally you can see if they have unlocked the job at all. Someone who has not done their job quest will, in their search info, have a 70 lancer and two dashes next to the DRG icon

And in case youd further like to throw this specific person a bone, no they had not unlocked any crafters

Well someone not unlocking jobs is obviously pretty silly and us not going to be great in a group, but I fail to see how it’s a reportable offense. If they were partied with people who were frustrated by it then those players would reserve the right to vote kick. Poor play really shouldn’t be a punishable offense, especially not when you literally have zero evidence as to why they have done what they have done, and no evidence of this player harassing or bothering anyone in any way.

I understand the report was for having the mentor crown in addition to not having unlocked jobs, but you can’t expect SE to punish a player for working within the guidelines they have set. If it’s possible to become a mentor without unlocking even a single job, then that’s on SE, and you should be making a suggestion to them to alter the requirements.

But it sounds like it actually isn’t possible to do this, so.... Obviously this person had jobs unlocked which makes the report even more frivolous. Even if they didn’t unlock jobs for the classes that start at level 1, they obviously had jobs unlocked that start as jobs, ergo they have some jobs unlocked. And you have no evidence that they are even queueing for things as a mentor as a class instead of a job.

Most likely what happened, yes.

I have to say thought, I would be tempted to think that someone who dosen't unlock their jobs' crystal is a troll and/or does not know about job quests. Saddly, I came across many players like this.

On a side note, I came across an elementalist in Dun Scaith once. Told him and he mentioned he 'was a druid'. Best laugh in the game so far.

This is very true, though the OP mentions over and over again how the accused player has no jobs what so ever. If this true then the likelihood of becoming a mentor is slim. Unless of course they bought jobs jump books to instantly have those job quests finished.

Mentors here are...weird.

You either have the total useless trolls that know nothing about the game, spread false information and regularly insult new players.

Or you have people who are knowledgeable and try to help but they're so few that you just assume they're all a-holes and ignore them, even if they are giving genuine helpful advice.

It feels like there's no in-between here. Either complete trash, or very skilled and helpful.

I think you can also become a mentor via the crafter/gatherer requirements, and then get a standard mentor crown from that?

I'm pretty sure the reverse is true, and I can pick which mentor icon type to use after getting just the battle qualification.

You are right, I came across many mentors that were just plain mean or had the crown to be pretty.

But it goes both ways ; as a mentor myself, most of the time whenever I speak to help somebody or give advice, I'm either ignored, told that 'I know how to play', or something along these lines.

That being said, I do think the requirements to be mentors should have been a bit higher. Maybe have all jobs at max level. It would be proof that you can help in a lot of situations and for different jobs. Having one tank, one DPS and one healer at max level dosen't mean much, specially now that you can buy the leveling potions... imo. :)

Can we report OP for abusing the report system and wasting some GM's time? What an asinine reason to report, the person the OP reported isn't even breaking any rules even if they're proving their incompetence by not having any jobs unlocked.

There are four total crowns that can be obtained via the mentor system. You can gain the first, Mentor crown, the moment you unlock mentorship for one of the other below. if I recall correctly.

PvE Mentor: A mentor who meets the qualifications to help Disciples of War or Magic.
Trade Mentor: A mentor who specializes in helping Disciples of the Hand or Land.

Well not necessarily. If you complete the crafting/gathering requirements then it automatically unlocks all the mentor titles, even the combat one regardless of whether you have jobs or not. Same in reverse as well, reach the combat requirements and also unlock crafting mentor title even if you specifically didn't do that.

I'm a mentor that leveled my tank doing beast tribe quests and my healer by leveling up my summoner. Am I going to get reported now?...How could you do this to me, SE!?

If they didn’t have any crafters or gatherers leveled/unlocked, then they couldn’t be a Mentor. You have to complete a level 60 job quest for a tank, a healer, and a DPS to get mentorship if you don’t go the crafter/gatherer collectibles route.

They may have been a level 70 LNC with no DRG, but it would be impossible for them to have the Burger King crown and not have done their job quests.

Unlocking one gives you access to all four types of Burger King crowns. You don’t have to fulfill specific requirements for each of them—just a requirement for DoW/DoM mentorship or DoH/DoL mentorship.

Mentor status came out in Heavensward. That time max level was level 60. So what is the problem here. You also can get it mentor status from crafting to. Sounds like one who started this thread should be banned for false reporting. Only problem I'm seeing all over the place is massive bots everywhere and no option to report them by clicking on there names.

Sounds like you should be reported for inciting mass reporting under false premises.

Either SE didn't properly test it and classes can unlock mentor status, or it's one of those specific circumstances where for some reason, search info only shows classes and not jobs (like when someone is offline for a few days)

Most of the good mentors I've read about don't wear the crown...
So you may have encountered a good one, you just didn't know they were a mentor.

I used to help people before getting my crown.

That being said, i think the requirements need to be harder. Anybody can easily become a mentor, and that is a problem.

I wish there was some way for them to enforce the "actually being helpful" aspect of mentoring so you don't have all these wastes of space in the NN who never even talk.

Oh shiz my bad lol. I knew it was some crazy number. I remember when the mentor system went live when I was still on gilgamesh. There was a dude that house that mount within a a month or two x.x

I've seen player search info bug out before and not show jobs unlocked that I know people have unlocked. Could be that too.
