We already have players using crossbows though, during the Bard/Mch LB2 iirc
I always hoped and expected that our third and final ranged DPS would have chakrams/boomerangs.
We already have bows, and guns for that matter, we dont need another weapon similar to either of them, that goes for crossbows and dual pistols.
I personally want a magic archer like in Dragon's Dogma. So shooting other players with magic/aether arrows or bolts wouldn't be that hard to imagine.
Think of the animations of multiple bolts flying through the air seeking their target. Honestly though for a magic archer type job I was thinking time mage like how in ff12 time mages use crossbows.
could see healer using a crossbow. have the bolts to it have healing affects and support affects to them.
While a healer with a crossbow would be cool, I feel they would have to make the next healer class very unique compared to the others at this point. That may end up meaning a melee oriented healer, as the rest are ranged.
Would be interesting in my opinion. Perhaps a "Cleric" style class that wields a hammer and shield, or just a two handed hammer. Heals are centered around themselves in an aoe. Maybe their weapon would have an added DEF stat to compensate for being in the thick of things.
crossbows are the ranged LB 1 and 2, i don't think they will add it as a main weapon as long they stay as LB weapons.
yeah but its not the same, a sword its more versatile with the moves and animations, a crossbow its just aim and shoot, if they add a crossbow they will probably get rid of the LB animations bcs expending all the time shooting darts in similar ways to en using you LB to ¿shoot more darts in the same way? if you know what i mean.

If, like Yoshida expressed, the number of jobs within a role are desired to be equal, then the end goal would be at least 4 jobs in each role. Meaning, 1 more Healer, 1 more rDPS and 1 more magical (Assuming that BLU doesn't count as a 4th magical job due to being limited unlike the 4 mDPS and upcoming 4 Tank jobs)
Healer and rDPS jobs are possible to utilize a crossbow.
Also, interesting to note, is they might make the 4th rDPS a "Selfish" DPS in the same vein as MCH so that the role includes 2 "Support" and 2 "Raw Damage" jobs.
i say get rid of the animations not the weapon himself from the LB.
the animation of both melee its nothing like DRK can do, the swings are so flashy made in mid air, both ranged LB are just stand and shoot, they are just so basic they look like lvl 1 attacks, they only thing that make it special is the crossbow.
Imagine a healing job that uses a hammer. How therapeutic would it be to bash people in the head to heal them? Lmao
Like above says, if they want the job roles to have equal numbers then we'd still need one more ranged DPS. Crossbow still possible. Also possible for a Chemist healer.
Personally I'd rather have Chemist crossbow healer and a ranged dps that uses a whip.
