Do we know yet what the naming conventions of Hrothgar are? Planning to make one and settling on a name always takes ages for me. So if I could get the agonising part out of the way early! :D

Old Norse is a safe assumption both from their namesake and from the Ronso, but no, we don't know anything about their culture.
Personally I'd expect nothing official about the Hrothgar or Viera (besides what's already in the game) until the Benchmark.
'Old Norse' has already been claimed by Dragons.
I'd lean more towards modern 'Nordic', or perhaps Tibetan roots.
The only naming convention rule they have is that every name must have a cat related pun.
What I wanna know is, who will be the lucky player to make Kimahri Ronso, without any added punctuation.
Here you go. Just one fantasia away come 5.0.
Give their general look, build, movements... I'd say they should all be named, Kratos.
Without knowing anything about them...
My first instinct would be to separate them into two tribes like every other race in the game - cats and dogs (cheetah/leopard/lion and wolf). I would posit the feline variety have African names due to big cats' cultural association with the continent, while the canines have Native American names due to popular culture often associating them with Native Americans. (Tibetan would make sense given their inspiration comes from X's Ronso, but we already know the Hrothgar on the first are called Ronso and so likely have that bit down pat.)
Unfortunately, their racial name having Norse etymology throws a wrench into all of this... so maybe none of the above. Maybe something wholly original like the Lalafell and Roegadyn. Who's to say?
Hrothgar sounds nordic, but if your thinking about tigers and big cats, in general, would make more sense to have India or Mediterranean names
It comes from a Danish king that ruled in the 500s. Humorously, his name was translated in some stories as Roe.

Side note, but we know from Yoshida that they have a lupine head that wasn't ready to be shown, in addition to the feline and Ronso heads that were.
It kinda depends on what the two 'clans' are.
If it's canine heads for one clan, and feline heads for the other, then I expect Wolfies will have Nordic names, and Cats will get something Indian/Tibetan.
So... Err... Somewhat off topic, but will Hrothgar naming conventions be the same as Ronso naming conventions? Ditto for the other races... Surely those on the First should have different naming conventions, I mean their races have different names so their names must be different too, right? Is this a can of worms that we'll see opened at any point?
The second Encyclopedia Eorzea already opened it by saying that Arbert and his group were using assumed names to blend in with Eorzeans. How far they want to take that is up in the air, but the Mystel at least should be completely different from the Miqo'te, since the [tribe]'[name] pattern only spread because of the Calamity of Ice.
Looks like Hrothgar will have Norse inspired names if their queen Gunnhildr is any indication.
With the ShB promotional site up, we finally know something about Hrothgar. They hail from Illsabard and are the origin of Gunbreakers, a practice descended from Queen Gunnhildr's royal guard. One tribe, the Helions(named by scholars, not themselves) are chiefly loyal to the crown, and the other tribe, the Lost, are nomadic. There was initially hostility when they crossed into Aldenard because they didn't know the common tongue, but disappeared quickly once they learned it.
Taking into account their race's name and the queen's name from the Gunbreaker lore, their names are likely going to be Norse and Germanic.
Nordic makes sense, considering the race and queen name, along with rough geographic equivalence. If it does lean that way in the end, it makes me wonder if the naming conventions will include a nod to the other cultures that seem to draw from a similar pool (ie Sea Wolves and some Hyur seem to have a northern/Germanic thing going on), like they did with Elezen and Midlanders / Roes and Highlanders.
Ronso-style naming would('ve) be(en) cool too, IMO.

Gunnhildr reminds me of german names from the Middle Age. (Well, more like Gunnhild without the r, but oh well.)
Brunhild is the German version of the Norse Brynhild/Brynhildr. Gunnhildr, I'm assuming, is either a gunblade joke or a reference to Queen Brunhild/Brynhildr marrying King Gunther/Gunnar. I wouldn't be surprised if Helion names lean Germanic and Lost names lean Norse.
Gunnhildr is a real name too.
