I really can't wait to go explore The First shard, I've been wanting to go to one of the other shards ever since 3.4 and I'm glad we're going to one at last! I also think there's a lot of areas we haven't seen since Yoshi P said we're taking the fight to the empire I have a feeling half the expansion will be on the first shard and the other half going to the empire like how Stormblood was split between Ala Mhigo and the Far East, I have a feeling there's a lot we haven't seen yet. I was also really impressed with a lot of the music I heard, Soken has come up with some great new tracks once again!

Same, the raids especially. It seemed like Eden might be tied to some sort of world-building with what they mentioned about there being no darkness or seasons in the First. The worlds look beautiful.
I was sad about Dancer for about 45 seconds then got over it.

I'm keen to see the differences between the First Shard and our Source Shard and what kind of similarities there as as well.
Also want to learn more about how we as the Warriors of Light can contribute to the darkness that the First Shard needs to combat the influx of light. -

To be honest, going to the First Shard is probably the aspect of the expansion that I'm least excited for. It feels like filler to me when there are so many places that we could have gone to that we already have some familiarity with and have been relevant to us in the past. I looked forward to seeing more of the cloud cover get pulled away on the world map, and beyond what they've shown us in previews so far, I really don't care about any of these locations or their inhabitants at all.
But I'll admit I'm biased in that this all reminds me of an isekai anime, and there's nothing I hate in anime more than isekai. -

I agree and I'm still excited for ShB. I have feeling the story will be interesting and expand the cosmology/multi-verse which can open the door to very interesting disparities and give us something new and different to look at.
As for Dancer, a new Physical Ranged DPS is welcome and a great addition and the two new races are also welcome as a vehicle for diversification of the races.
Good job Yoshi-P and I have no doubt ShB will be a smashing success. -

Me too, all the salt comes across as entitled to me, so many people got something they wanted (except healer mains, sorry :/), but people are upset and "unsubbing" because they didn't get everything they wanted.
To Recap:
- People who wanted viera got that
- People who didn't want viera and wanted something more beast-like and interesting (like lupin) got that
- People who wanted dancer got that
- The lowest represented "role" (physical ranged) got a new job
- Tanks got a new job
and so on.
I think that we can safely predict that next expansion will give us a healer and caster, which will bring us to 4 tanks/4 healers/4 melee/4 physical ranged/4 magic ranged. Please look forward to it -

I don't think anyone was disappointed with the setting and story. People are generally frustrated with gender locking and the lack of a healer Job. It is understandable. There are people who wanted to play Viera but didn't want to play a female character and their are people who wanted a beastal race but didn't want to have to play a male. As for healers, as of next expansion that will be a 6 year wait since the last job, over half of FF14's lifespan by then.
With the issues they have had with the healers before now unless you have a truly inspiring revamp of the healing system in FF14 it is going to be damn disappointing for those who have grown rather tired with the existing jobs. Hell, I usually run a healer but I probably will look at another role for a fresh feel but then with the Trust system that will be no real lose since I won't need to worry about DPS queues.
Also, telling people that have had a four year wait they need to wait another two years isn't going to usually met particularly well. -

Got your math wrong there. With Shadowbringers we will have 4 tanks/3 healers/4 melee/3 physical ranged/and 3 magic ranged (4 if you count BLU, but I'm not going to get into counting limited classes because thats not fair). I do expect that by next expansion we will see a new healer, because that much neglect to an entire 1/3 of the Holy Trinity is a problem

If you want to play DPS, you already had 5 options for doing it at range, and 4 options for doing it in melee. Every single one of them has a distinct and engaging playstyle.
If you want to play a healer, you only have 3 options and they all play very similar to each other. The gameplay loop of Red Mage is extremely distinct from Summoner. Bards and Machinists have entirely different mechanics to worry about despite having similar proc-based gameplay. But the same can't be said of White Mage with Scholar and Astrologian, where the biggest differentiating factor between all three is that one of them needs to worry about drawing cards and one needs to worry about micromanging a pet.
