THE GENDER LOCK IS NOT A BIG DEAL, instead.... update old races

on stage yoshida mentioned how the work load was one of the reasons for gender locking the races, making a male and female to each is about the same amount of effort as making a whole new race honestly. However. the fact is that the old races models are much much inferior, along with customization options. it honestly feels like a deterrent to playing the old races. they look way worse, and have super limited options in comparison.

If you don't want to add both genders, then just don't add it at all and focus on updating options for older races. If you're not going to add options for old races, then a new race is fine but don't gender lock it.

I want them to create MORE unique animations, poses, stances etc that are unique to each race AND gender. I want to see a female Miqo'te battle moveset to look completely different from a male Elezen. Give the races and genders some actual defining features beyond a static model. The way the homogenized the animations in ARR was a total shortcut they took to get the game out. Since then they have done a better job at giving the newly introduced races specific characteristics outside of battle. They need to extend this into battle animations as well as rework the original races and give them some unique animation characteristics.

A little off topic, but I think they really need to rework the model in some old glamours...like Quaintrelle's Ruffled Skirt.

You saying you don't like how the ARR races look like CPR dummies under low lighting or during intense rain like in Pool Tribute?

Granted Au Ra also look like garbage in that instance, but oof do the older races look worse.

Give us the fat miqo'tes.

They may be going back and upgrading them in the next expansion. Didn't they say they wont be adding any more races? If so they may have something like this in mind, instead of new races.

More height scales, more muscle sliders, weight scales - come on. I'd still be sad about the genderlocks but I could deal with it if I saw male highlanders with actual chuffing eyebrows.

You don't get to decide what people can be upset about. They did make an entire new race, the Hrothgar, which also had to have a gender left out. There was no reason they couldn't have picked one race to do and completed both genders for it.

If male customization options let me build my body type I'd be more inclined to play one honestly. However very few games allow you to make a 5'6" 120lb (I say 120 but I'm actually only 113) male character probably because they think only children would have a build like that and only want adult player characters. Ignore the fact I'm likely older than most of the people actually making the game...

They need to expand the character customization of existing races. (Mi'qote have it worst)

I would really like more character options for all old races.

Personally its not a big deal to me with these particular races, but I still feel that gender locked races are a step backwards into free Korean MMO territory.

I completely agree with OP and hope that we get updates to character customisation for all races.
