Okay, so this is my first time ever playing a game like this. I picked white mage and like it a lot so far, but my problem is that I am lvl 39 at the moment and I cannot keep up with keeping my tank healed in dungeons. I don't know what I am doing wrong and all the guides I look up are for people who have everything unlocked ability wise. Like what ordered to I cast things and do I just spam cure and cure 2?
I don't know and I keep dragging my party down and I don't wanna do that.

The difficulty of healing, especially while leveling, is almost entirely about how good your tank's gear is. If you're in a leveling dungeon spamming cures and you still can't keep up either your tank has really bad gear, is pulling too many mobs at once, or both. Tell the tank to slow down.

Largesse will add an extra bit of oomph to your healing. If you know your tank is fragile, use it before regen, otherwise you can choose to use it reactively. Lucid Dreaming, just make sure to not wait until you're out of MP to use it. Around 70% MP is OK, particularly when you know you have a lot of curing ahead.

One final thought: Eye for an Eye is usually considered a more minor cooldown, but in leveling dungeons it could be pretty useful on squish tanks. So maybe take that as a role action too.

Risvertasashi's points are all excellent, but one other thing to note: if you're tank is pulling really big right now (think more than 2 groups of enemies at a time, or possibly even 2 in some cases) in leveling dungeons, they're probably doing it wrong. A lot of jobs don't have access to AoE skills until much later - you, for example, don't have access to Holy yet, which works great both for damage and mitigation as it stuns enemies. Dragoons, similarly, don't get their AoE skill until they're in their 40s. If your tank is pulling too big for you to handle, let them know and ask them to pull smaller; smaller pulls where no one dies are more efficient than party wipes every other pull because the tank pulled too much.

I'm not sure if the following is proven out but I recommend being within 10 levels between each piece of your gear and the dungeon level (this is especially important for your weapon and left side gear). Any more than that and healing becomes extremely difficult (until level 50 where item levels are desynced from character levels). Risvertasashi's adice for healing is spot on. If you need to spam heals don't be afraid to. Also take advantage of Presence of Mind for healing, and use Lucid Dreaming generously. Take advantage of freecure procs and any other long cooldown ability. If you need a cure 2 immediately don't be afraid to burn a swiftcast even.Quote:

Conjurer is like a "Kung Fu" with many styles and all of them lead to the same outcome, which is of course booby-traps and dead teammates. So what do you do!? Use your Kung Fu!
A little bit on the "gear bit", Don't worry about it! Fiesta tanks with good gear take care of themselves. Little joke there, but seriously... team needs you. -

I think the point of "don't use cure 3 as tank heal" was just that, it costs more, and has less potency, than Cure 2. So using it "As tank heal" is good thing to avoid. Of course there are situations when it might be good idea to cast it at the tank, if you want to heal more persons around them. But too many newish healers think it's upgrade to Cure 2 abd start using it as supposed even bigger single heal, which it's not. That's what was advised against here.

If Rodger simply misunderstood and meant to use it as a party heal I suppose that's fine. But if he genuinely meant Cure 3 could be used a tank heal, frankly, he doesn't know what he's doing on white mage. But honestly, saying gear doesn't matter gives me the latter impression anyways. While the stat numbers might be small but in the early levels, small increases make a big difference. -

Alright, I'm gonna chime in on that Cure III.
So, at lvl 60 atm, I've found that Cure III is almost entirely useless in dungeons. It has a very specific niche use, but most of the time you can get away with just casting Medica II for a cheaper more wide range party heal that actually heals more over time then Cure III does upfront.
That's not to say Cure III is completely useless, its excellent if your team is stacked up and there is a ton of incoming damage you need to heal them through before it hits... So its more useful in trials.
And yeah, don't ever wait for your MP to be out before popping Lucid Dreaming for the Refresh. I generally prefer to use it about 50-60% but I'll use it much earlier if I know I'm about to have to heal through a lot of incoming damage. Another side use, is if tank drops enmity on something and you pull it. While the tank should be able to provoke or similar off of you, sometimes thats not enough quick enough. Lucid Dreaming drops your enmity by 50%. Generally speaking though you are going to be using Lucid Dreaming as a give me MP button.
Otherwise, Dark Knights, especially early on and under geared, are some of the more squishy tanks, just keep that in mind so you don't let them drop too low. Once you get Regen things should start becoming a little easier.
The other thing is making sure you activate Protect at dungeon start, as well as using Esuna on targets that have debuffs. Especially Poison! -

If I may offer an honest piece of advise...
Turn to you hunting log, In the South Black Shroud you notice there is an area called Urth's Gift. At the entrance cave you will find some Lesser Kalong that will leach your HP, spend a few SP points to get your chocobo the "Defender Stance". You will be able to do solo expirence chains up 3-5. This can become a technically challenging task but you will learn to target between yourself and party members with confidence and manage your MP. If your feeling up for it try to make the journey up though to Urth's Fount and test yourself on the Lv. 50 Water elementals from now until you hit lv. 50 yourself and can begin to chain them. the rest is pretty much up to you on filtering your UI so you can keep track of other game elements.

Most of the time gear in dungeons is Sync. Chances are that any boosters are washed out so when you "are" gearing up... keep track of your stats during sync.
I'm happy to speak a little bit more on the subject for any direct questions to clear the air.
