New Lightning Weapon for Gunbreaker

A lot of people don't realize that Lightnings weapon is a gunblade.

I wonder if it would be possible for SE to repurpose the model, and make a gunblade version of it.

Thoughts?

We didn't get Sazh's gun for Machinist, either.

That's different. You're asking for a brand new weapon model for a class that wasn't present at the time event. OP is asking for a repurpose of an already existing weapon model in the game.

Personally I'd like to see this as well as I never really felt the blazefire saber fit the aesthetic of PLD very well.

I think the main issue would be the difference between Lightning's gunblade and those of Squall/Seifer.

Like, VIII's gunblades are swords with a revolver handle and chamber where "Shooting" sends a shock down the blade for more damage (Physics be damned!)

XIII's gunblade is a sword that folds into a gun to shoot actual bullets.

I'm not sure how they'd be able to make a Blazefire Sabre than functions for Gunbreaker without seeming odd due to not working like Lightning's actual weapon (Which would be drastically different to how Gunbreaker would use its skills)

As Kalise mentioned, the gunblade folds so the way I see it, the could make a folded model (revolver) for MCH and the non-folded version for gunbreaker.

Then there's that other unique aesthetic where the animation for the Lightning's Gunblade to fold and unravel depending on what skill to use.

As much as I'm loathe to use this particular sentence, it really sounds like too much work for just one piece of gear that has already hit the game. Especially when Squall's gunblade is actually going to be brought in.

TL;DR: It's too late for that.

They never gave MCH, AST, DRK, RDM or SAM a FF 13 themed weapon, they won't do it.

didnt get yokai weapons for RDM and SAM even though they redid the event start of SB

A "lot of people don't realize" Lightning's weapon is a gunblade... because it isn't. At least not in terms of the type of gunblade being used for Gunbreaker (FF8). Lightning's weapon is a sword that can transform into a gun and visa versa. Even the "gunblades" used by Garlemald officers aren't the same weapon (they are a gun with a long blade attached).

One the one hand, they did add versions of Zantetsuken for samurai and dark knight, so there's some precedent.

On the other hand, they never did add FFXIII themed weapons for any of the jobs that came after ARR, so unfortunately I don't think we'll see a model of Blazefire Saber for gunbreaker. :(

Different aesthetics.

Lighting's folds up, and there are a couple of pld swords that have the folding animation to them. Plus Lightning always has her left hand out like she is going to use it to parry an attack like PLD with spirit shield.

Then Squall is the concept for gunbreaker, and also currently MCH dont dual wield pistols so.........um yea.

Would have loved to get Serah's Sword version for dark...

While the gunblades are of a FF VIII style it would be neat to get some here and there that fit other styles, be it Lightning's or Garlean style etc. Dark Knight got a giant Sephiroth Katana so I don't see why they couldn't throw one in at some point.

Not gonna happen. They won't change the Blm/Whm ONE HANDED WEAPONS for 2h versions, so we're never gonna see any change to any of this.

the blazefire saber was actually just a sword in FF XV so why not?

Because that's what it is here too (it's the GLA/PLD FFXIII weapon). So, even if it was remade into a GNB weapon what weapon would GLA/PLD then get in return?

I change my mind, GNB can have the stupid Blazefire Sabre, I want THAT gunblade and shield for GLA/PLD instead! ;) (And the armour too). ;) Please Yoshi! :D

Yes I know that has about as much chance of happening as ARR being scrapped and replaced with FFXIV 1.0 being restored to service, but a girl can still dream! ;)

Hmmmm. No one asking for Seifer's Gunblade... Sad now. ><

With the Gunbreaker's gear being a coat, I actually hope that they will eventually add Seifer's gear and weapon.
