Playing the game alone

This will probably sound odd but I want get other people's take on this. I have friends that to play this though do the real life circumstances and other obligations and responsibilities they aren't able to be on much.

So usually it's me keeping the FC around and running keeping it supplied these with the furnishings and such so for those that may be in a similar situation where it's really just you a lot of time how do you get past that feeling of just loneliness ER sadness if you will and there's no one to hang around with when you're online.

I even asked there was a linkshell to join but of course unfortunately no one responded so it's just tough you know.

Haha, ye I do that, I keep My FC that used to be me and my friends alive. No one is around anymore, and it's hard to recruit now, because there are so few new players around.

I have just been keeping myself busy by setting goals.

First was to get all DoH to 70, Then all DoL to 70 (just finished)
Now working on the Land King gear. Should be done tonight.

Trying to decide if I should do Eureka next , or do My Hand King Gear.

Just kinda keep busy, once the new expac drops there will be lots of new players looking for FC's.


Try to get into Novice chat too, that at least will give you some social contact.

I'm with you too! I was feeling this way since a lot of my friends have moved on with their lives and rarely to never logged in. Or the friends still actively playing are in completely different data centers. And I don't want to transfer since I run our FC and have an FC house.

Then I started raiding with a group, and it's been a bit more lively. We're casuals so we spend about 3 hours together, 2 days a week wiping the floors with our characters on soon to be outdated Savage fights. Then other times I go to Eureka with them or run roulettes every other day or so.

It's made the loneliness go away some, so if that seems interesting to you, why not try finding a group too.

I have actually been just that in recent days just figured capping my crafters for the new expansion. The hand king gear is nice aye.

Awww I'm sorry that's been bumming you out! I'm kind of a solo player over here too, it doesn't bother me too much but this is also my first MMO. I'm used to solo play.

I definitely talk to people outside the game, but within it I tend to get a lot from even tiny interactions moment to moment. One time I needed to do a few things and saw a miqo'te girl sitting on a bench with the indication she was away from the game at the moment. My guy was in full creepypasta looking spook gear and I kind of went "huh" and sat down next to her while taking care of the offline stuff. At some point I hear a high pitched laugh and peek back up to see the miqo'te player had returned and was getting a kick out of me, so I just had my guy laugh back at her and we went on to have a tiny emote exchange. It was a small moment but made me grin a lot.

I've had really fun dungeon runs, primal fights with both duty and party finder, misadventures in Eureka, and just randomly bumping into folks. I suspect if I was more outgoing I could keep in touch more too. If socializing is a big part of gameplay for you, you can just kind of run into stuff and keep building on it I think!

I'm the only one left in my FC since after PvP got changed in HW the PvP FC I'm in completely died. I am keeping the FC house up incase they come back, but at this stage they might never come back.
I mostly just chill in the novice network now.

If you're alone on your FC leave it and find another...
There is no point on being alone just to keep a virtual house, you could be losing the chance to make great new friends somewhere else just cause of a thing that have no real value and if your old friends ever come back they could join you on your new FC.
Don't lose time waiting for ppl that could never come back, go have fun in the game.

You could create an alt, add them to your fc and promote them. You could then leave and join a casual fc with your main. All you'd need to do is log into your alt and enter the house every other week to keep it going.

You could join a couple of hunt link shells and get involved in the hunting community. Keeps you constantly busy I swear.

Yeah I'm alone too. Most people I used to play with have moved on. I'm EU on a NA server and it is quiet when I play. If I stay up late it's busier but I'm still lonely lol. I've been trying new FCs etc but haven't clicked with people yet. I'm working my way up through jobs I haven't used and trying to do the feast of famine fisher quest (lol, not getting far)

I have always played MMO's without RL friends to play with. I find it very easy to get along with people in game and enjoy playing with them when I can. At the same time, I am also a very private person. I enjoy playing alone and doing my own thing a majority of the time. I also have a very sporadic schedule, so my play time alters bi-monthly.

I find when I am playing alone, I listen to music and I don't even notice most times.

That's what I'm doing right now is leveling my crafters just to get them out of the way.

I'm probably should clarify in my apologies for not making it more clear in my first post is that a friend she does play pretty often but not as much as me (though I can be off alot as well) but she also plays other games and stuff. Even asked her if she wanted to make the FC like a secondary thing for alts and then we just joined something out else with our Mains but she wants to keep it and I agree with her on that we worked hard to get everything for FC mansion and such. Just when I'm no just me and stuff and after playing for a while with no one to talk with If It's just tough or saddening. I even just asked eyeglass on if there was any link shells just to chat with people but I didn't get one response. So the host was just to get other people's take on how they deal with similar situation. I again apologize for not making that clearer in my original post.

I joined the game a little after a friend of mine did, and so I came into an already active FC. I met a lot of people initially and it was really cool. Eventually my friend got to the tome grinding point of the game and got burned out and stopped logging on. Then I noticed the guild leader who was always on had not logged in for nearly two weeks. The player who knew her the most said that she would likely not be back, said he was leaving the FC and took all the regulars with him. I pleaded for them to stay, but they said they had planned on leaving anyway and invited me to go with them.

I was told that I got the invite to the new FC but would have to leave the current in order to accept. I can't quite point my finger on why, but I didn't want to leave and I was all alone. So started to tend the gardens, stable, and upkeeping the house while continuing to progress in the game. I did that for about three weeks and had no one to talk to until the guild leader came back. I basically threw myself at her and hugged her when she popped on. I was a total chatter box and told her that everyone left, and I tried to get them to stay.

For a very long time, it was just her and I. We play in different time zones so she often logs out an hour or two after I pop on, so even though she was back I still spent a lot of time playing by myself. After a while, a few peeps came back to the FC and we have some new people too. We are still not as big as we once were but we get together every Saturday to do things together, and I'm the one that usually arranges it lol. I'm kind of the glue now.

I'm ok alone, but things are just much brighter being able to group and talk with FC buddies. I have a hunt LS too but that chat is pretty much reserved for that purpose. Not at all the same. I think we are gregarious by nature and I hope you can find a friend or two to do things with in the near future.

For me, it's easy to enjoy this game alone... because I don't NEED other people to keep me entertained. The GAME itself keeps me entertained and focused with its storyline and tons of stuff to do. I've never been a social person, so the more I can do in a game by myself, the better. The only reason I enjoy MMOs so much is because they are an on-going game without end, and I hate playing games that have an ending and then perhaps a couple of DLCs, but then it's done forever. With MMOs, they're constantly adding more content so you can stick with one game for years on end... which is what I typically do. I'm not a game-hopper, I don't play multiple games at the same time, and I don't get bored easily... which is why the last three games I played were MMOs- the first I played for two years, the second for three, and now I've been with FFXIV for six months with no end in sight.

Helluuu playing alone isnt bad, ppl that makes you feel alone is the worst

We almost play alone here is just me and husb sometimes we get happy for being invite to weddings occasionally.

meh ppl are overrated, chatting with some-rando every so often is good enouf for me (be it in a dungeon or the RARE times I am on when ANYONE I know is) I mean the FC I am in plays at a different time then me, which is fine I left my 1st FC with my alt, & only really 2 FL ppl i care about still play but the chance of me seeing them on at the same time is low enouf its a "rare-drop" (even less when u account for only really logging on once or twice a week on my end, to much shit to do)

Heck mostly alone IRL too, sure I live with my childhood friend but I'm a self-impossed recluse, & the only 3 reasons I leave the house are: Work-Food-Stuff I want (usually in that order, with the last one happening at the same time as the other 2... mostly, I'm gona go with 85% of the time)... & as contrary to the belief of my 2 IRL, roomie inclued in that count, friends I am actually happy & content like this

I'm in a similar boat. I spent a lot of time working on my main character and some alts for the guild but without my friends being able to join in. I ended up creating a new character on a different server and was invited to join a guild that has a very large member count who are consistently active. I still do my own thing but sometimes I join in roulette group runs or help lower level members get through dungeons. Sometimes I reach out for help too. I still hop on to my first character to do some quests or whatever to keep the guild alive but spend most of my time with the new character.
