Any reason why current content can't be undersized?

Hey guys.

I've been wanting to help friends with some earlier sb primals and realized again (had just temp forgotten) that we can't undersize them. Is there any reason why this is a thing? I can't really see what there is to gain from undersizing anyways?

They probably have a switch they can flick on and off for content to be undersized, but can only flip that switch once the expac has come and gone. But this is my guess.

current expansion content will never be undersized. for the most part at this point we are at max ilivel and things like extreme trials and Delta/Sigma scape can be easily overpowered, but you'll still need to fulfill party reqs.

They probably want to keep the latest content active. If you have players going in undersized/unsynced then you have less people queuing for things like MSQ duties or raids, thus longer queues. Sure players could use PF to get help for the MSQ, but most players don't do that and opt for the Duty Finder instead.

If we're talking about Susano and Lak then those are Bismark levels of easy to do and I hear Shinryu is easy to do now if people know the mechanics.

Some content can't be completed solo or even with two players even if the ilvl were high enough due to the game mechanics involved. Even some content that allows you to go undersized has restrictions where you can't solo or duo without glitching it just right. But this isn't the main reason, the main reason is probably because they don't want to confuse people by making them think they can complete content that requires much better gear to solo / duo it and perhaps want people to fill up the duty finder. Eventually once the ilvl goes up, maybe to 580+, the level 70 content will be unsync. This will be some time from now, like 2 years away or so, probably.

They don't allow unsync until an expansion has hit currenty we are still in SB so we can unsync ARR/HW stuff SB will be available to try and unsync once ShB is out

There isn't a solid reason.

It wouldn't affect premades that much, no one queues for current EX trials in DF so that wouldn't be affected and you gain little benefit over an 8 man premade besides slightly less competition on mounts, but lootmaster groups exist anyway.

It's probably just "to be safe" incase there was some reason they can't think of or some current instance becomes soloable due to an exploit they missed, and they see no reason to change it.

Thanks everyone for your input. It seems like some of the strongest reasons people have posted here are :

- to keep the content active and push people who would otherwise undersize the content to join PF/DF (I feel like this is the main reason)

- not to confuse players into thinking the content can easily be undersized. Given SE’s track record in trying to guide players this seems pretty plausible

The JP playerbase is well known to still use the DF for Ex trials quite regularly, and what the home market does seldom goes unnoticed by the devs.

Farm Susano EX with I lvl 400 gear and get doggos real easy.

Thats why they dont allow undersize in current tier. Towards the later end of xpacs, the earlier content would become a joke and speed farmed. That cuts down on peoples time spent playing and shortens the overall games lifespan.

Thats because they do it completly different. They use the PF for practice and the DF for farming, so rumors say. You can't compare that to NA or EU where literally no one ever ques up for Ex Primals except for maybe new players who don't know better.

Well I was more highlighting that if one base (JP) still uses one method more than another base (NA/EU), the devs won't be quick to change it that's all. Doesn't really matter for what reason they do it, it's still an active avenue to content for them, so to say "no one queues" that particular way isn't exactly correct that's all.

The dev's wouldn't change it one way or the other because they just change it on the following expansion. I just pointed out that there is a huge difference between JP and the rest.
