Can We Talk About This Absolute Unit?

This sound track has me crying in it's beauty.
It has that sense of majesty and mystery that I've rarely felt from anything, akin to certain scenes in Ancient Magus' Bride.

To clarify, Soken is the Absolute Unit.

I mentioned this on a YT video; I would have zero complaints if Soken took over the sound development for future main FF titles. His work on XIV is astounding, I'd genuinely call him the second Uematsu.

I know where I'm idling. Can't wait for the OST.

I really hope they have a way to uncheck battle music for 5.0. I love the music, but as soon as I heard it I was also disappointed. I knew that I'd be going about my business, enjoying the music being completely immersed, and some animal would run up to me and ruin the whole moment.

Azim step has been my fav afk spot in SB, I think Rak'tika is gonna be my fave SBR. The preview is so beautiful, I can listen to it on loop ;-;

You already can! :D It's in the sound settings I think? It's next to where you can toggle on/off mount music if I recall correctly. Still no way to turn off FATE music though. -_- But oh well, one step at a time I guess.

On topic, this might be one of the best pieces so far. Maybe it's because it sounds so Susumu Hirasawa to me, who is my favorite musician of all times. I pray that I'll actually get to enjoy it.

Yass. Like, his theme for Heavensward (the one called Heavensward used in the trailer) is faaaaar above Dragonsong for me.

The Rak'Tika snippet struck me during the FanFest, it really is wonderful.

I love Soken but I'd honestly hesitate to call him the next Uematsu.

Despite the big variety of music styles in FFXIV's soundtrack, you'll find that a lot of it is actually written with the same "rock mentality", where there's a lot of emphasis put on the main melody while kind of shafting every other part of the song.

Uematsu was great because he let every instrument run wild in his compositions, never compromising any of them and it adds a lot more personality to his tracks. Just compare the arrangements of old FF tracks to their original counterparts and see how much is lost when Soken brings them to XIV.

Almost looks like he's riding around on a tiny wingless Nidhogg.
