Im totaly HYPED!

So, since ever fanfest started and they showed all the new stuff for 5.0 all I can read in this forum is complaint following by complaints.

Thats why I think its finally time to make a positive post!

So in this sense: THANK YOU!

Thank you for the great idea to bring Nier into this game and let us dive us once more into it. I cant wait with what they come up with for boss fights and if the atmosphere will feel the same! (and the music!!!)

Thank you for finally giving us Viera after 5 years of asking if we get it ♥

Thank you for the 4 man mount and FF15 event!

Thank you for new a new tank (and hopefully healer) class!

Me, personally, Im super excited and I look forward to 5.0!

I want to see more of Viera, but other than that I'm cool with everything.

I'm definitely way more excited for ShB than I was SB, and SB was adding the main job I wanted to play. I think the direction the plot is going in way more interesting. The villains are better. The areas shown off are cooler. The music is better. The trailer is more exciting.

I mean, so far it's almost like they've always been catering expansions directly towards me.

My sister and I played FFXI at different times, she ended up playing way longer than me into the expansions as well. We decided to try FFXIV together once it released on consoles for nostalgia near the end of ARR cycle.

Starte as a WAR in LL, she started as ACN. Once we got to the MSQ sequence that brought us to Gridania we both decided to switch jobs cuz moar nostalgia... me to LoLDRG and her to BRD. And that's what we main'd through the rest of ARR.

Then HW was announced with all it's DRG Glory, which spoke to me as a DRG main... even though I eventually switched my main to BLM through HW... that initial hype was all about the goon.

Then SB was announced... and I've always been a highlander so the promise of taking back the homeland?! Sign me up!

Now during HW my sister and I definitely noticed and started to tire of the longer DPS queues, so I suggested going into SB that we switch our mains to Tank and Healer since we anticipated that DPS queues would only get worse with two more being added into the game. I switched to PLD and she switched to WHM, which we primarily played as through the MSQ. I did level all the jobs though this cycle, and decided that DRK was my favorite tank to actually play as, so I've been mainly playing DRK since patch 4.2 or 4.3ish...

So ShB trailer drops and what the what... DRK Glory!!1 SE pander directly to me once again!

Hype at maximum!

Hell yeah SB2 is looking like a sequel that will surpass the original.

I am far more hyped for ShB than I was SB! But it isn't necessarily SBs fault. I actually really love where the story is going, but HW really was a tough act to follow. I also found myself gravitating more towards the Gyr Abania areas than Othard. Don't get me wrong, those areas are wonderful but Eorzea is home. Plus I will actually be pretty caught up this time around, which allows me to enjoy said hype with everyone else without the worry of spoilers.

I am super stoked for the Gunbreaker job and so happy it's a tank. I really enjoy tanking in this game even though I have to step out of my comfort zone to do so. If Dancer is brought in as a healer I don't think I'll be able to contain my excitement! But we're going back to a darker theme, we have pixies, bunny girl senpais and possibly boys will join the fray; this next expansion just has my name all over it!

I'll be honest, I don't particularly love the Dark Knight quest story... it's a bit too emo teen for me, but I do enjoy the spin they are putting on it through the main story quest plot. I think so far it's incredibly well done, and the trailers are looking suspenseful and very intriguing. Not only the story but also, how are we getting to these new featured worlds? Is Rak'tika Greatwood in Dalmasca that they showed on the map in the Ivalice raid? Is it... a different world altogether? I have so many questions that I really want to see answered so my hype is building and building. I also really love how high fantasy they are going with this expansion, which was not at all what I was expecting with what I thought was going to be "modern tech in fantasy setting Garlemald" and wasn't too excited about. I'm so happy they did decide to include high fantasy settings.

So far everything has looked so high quality and really made me happy I still play this game.

I am cautious. I was super hype for Stormblood, but that expansion ended up as a major disappointment. Got burned so hard that I quit the game for almost a year. I do like the potential theories of where the plot is heading this time, and I like the jungle zone they are introducing (something I wanted for a while), but I won't hype over it. The game stopped being as fun as it used to be, but I'm willing to give it a chance again and do want them to dazzle me. Do they have a chance? Sure. But I will still be cautious.

I would like to see more of viera as well. Thank you for adding viera SE/dev team/Yoshi p/everyone involved :)

The last time I was this hyped for an expansion was Heavensward. Stormblood was really disappointing for me and stopped playing for almost a year. I finally get to be a Viera and I am a HUGE fan of Nier: Automata so the 24 man raid got me really hyped this time around as well. I can't wait to preorder.

I have watched the extended trailer so many times... it is so good.
But then remember how good the Stormblood trailer was and...
Have hopes for Shadowbringers however.

I'm pretty sure that Viera isn't fully completed. The female models shown has the same face, so it's possible that male Viera just haven't had their animations finished to show off.

I'm surprised the crowd didn't spontaneously combust when they showed the Viera reveal. It's been hyped for so long.

Pretty Sure it was said there would be two jobs pretty confident it will be a healer, 80% confident it will be dancer!

Glad to see a positive post. Was getting mildly sick of everyone finding something to complain about.

I'm HYPE for viera even though I won't play one.

HYPE for that gunbreaker as tank is my main role, unsure if I'll jump on it instantly but I absolutely want to try it

And totally god dang HYPE for that Nier, I don't give a hoot what any of the whiners say about "original" story, I think it's gonna be sick as all hell to see

I'm excited. New tank looks cool. I hope we get a new healer too to round things out. I have a feeling this may be the last time we get two full new jobs in an expansion so it would be nice to round out the tanks and healers before that potentially happens. Or maybe I'm wrong, we'll see in a couple years. They talked int he QA about how they're going to make the tanks feel a bit different with new actions etc, I hope that pans out well.

I like what we've seen of the new zones. And I'm hoping we won't have a split focus like in SB where the split focus kind of makes both stories feel rushed.

The Nier Raid has me both super hyped and also a little nervous, but with how well they integrated Ivalice into FF XIV's lore I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here and not going to worry about how they'll handle the story until they actually give us info.

The 8 man raids I'm a little more nervous about because story wise I didn't really get invested in the story until between O11 and O12. Unlike Ivalice, they didn't recontextualize the first 11 bosses into FF XIV's world and it felt like lazy, albeit fun mechanically, fanservice. I really hope that the new raid story is better. But we'll have to wait for March.

No talk yet of Eureka like zones so I honestly hope they take the resources put into Eureka and do something else. Imagine if we got a new zone or two mid expansion that tied into the story instead of being side content for relics.

I really want to contain my hype until JP fanfest, even then I'd be willing to contain my hype until they reveal the job adjustments/abilities in May.

Though if/when they announce Dancer, I'm all aboard that hype train right until it crashes through the station.

I am very confident that we'll get a new healer, but not all that confident it's going to be DNC. The strongest hint I've seen is The Lyse Minion description, which isn't really a hint but rather acknowledgment from the devs that seeing Lyse in the preview trailer for SB led to a bunch of people to thinking DNC was coming in 4.0. If they were lying about saying it wasn't intentional, which I think they deliberately did so, then that confidence goes up a good bit.

What I am confident on though, is the rioting that will result if it is not brought in as the new healer

Awe this post is excellent!! I completely agree and look forward to 5.0 as well! It's gonna be so freaking exciting and I'm instantly switching to Viera! I didn't play Nier so I don't know much but the outfits look amazing and that interview with the two guest designers was adorable and inspiring! I really can't wait to play what they create for us and see how it ties into our world!

I love the new trailer and the implications about Matoya. I hate tanking but I'm super happy tanks get gunbreaker. Il Mehg looks fantastic. I like fantasy zones. The female Viera are not hyur and not cute. And they have Butts.
And the raid. Oh my god the raid.
Things I wanted a lot in life: A Nier crossover with FFXIV. A Final Fantasy made by Yoko Taro. A Nier Automata expansion. But to get all? Permanently? This is awesome.

I'm very hyped too, OP! No expansion has disappointed me, I always enjoy every update. And Shadowbringers is looking really good to me; I'm eager to learn about its dark story, explore the new beautiful maps, have fun with Viera character creation, discover the new glamours and emotes... and basically everything, haha. I'm even excited about the two collaborations announced so far (Nier Automata and FFXV), even if I'm not a fan of either game!

I'm hyped too! :D There's so much cool stuff coming in 5.0.

IL MHEG AND PIXIES. I have been waiting for fairy/pixie styles for a long, long time. Titania is stunning, and the area is absolutely gorgeous. I cannot wait for this part of the story, and I'll be grinding beast tribe rank as soon as possible. I love everything about this addition.

MATOYA. I'm theorizing that she and Y'shtola will be doing some kind of body sharing, and I am SO there for this. All the sass, all the time. Gonna be awesome.

ISHGARD RESTORATION. I'll be leveling my crafters and gatherers as quickly as possible (they're all capped now, just waiting for that level cap increase) because I want to be doing this, like, yesterday. I love Ishgard so much. Cannot wait to be involved in another storyline relating to it.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE STORY. Are we moving around in time? Moving around to different worlds? Where are Alphinaud and Alisae? What happens to Krile and Tataru and the alliance leaders? I'm so hyped for what's coming. It's getting really intriguing and I can't wait.

July can't come fast enough. :D I'm so excited.

I'm so ready for Shadowbringers. I keep watching the trailer for it over and over. And the viera and gunbreaker reveals too! I was excited for SB and HW back in the day too, but this one has me more hyped than ever as its bringing the story back to the ascian threat.
Dont get me wrong, I liked the rescue of Doma and Ala Mhigo, but it just didnt have that excitement I originally felt with 1.X to 2.X and the end of Bahamuts story and the initial ascian story-line.
I also wasnt too keen on the far eastern gear designs so I am really hyped to be moving away from those.
The real seller for me was seeing Viera's run, walk and sprint animations are from Miqote. I have tried every race but alsways wind up on Miqote because it felt like their run animation was the most natural. The rest just always felt, rigid or awkward somehow. I'm so happy its miqote's run/walk/sprint that now I can fantasia without issue. (Also, Viera kind of have butts,...YAY!)

Yes indeed, several of the announcements were gold for me... and Yoko Taro coming onboard for the raids? This will be legendary... I played the original Nier, the Drakengard games, and even played through to get 21 of the total 26 endings for Nier Automata. Such a brilliant mind.

Im excited because Im torn between maining DRK or switching to gunbreaker.

For me, there is absolutely no indecision about it... When 5.0 arrives, I will start playing and testing Gunbreaker the moment I can teleport to Gridania.

This sums up my feelings pretty well, tbh. I was hyped for Stormblood, it turned out to be a bit of a dud for me in quite a lot of ways; before that, I was so insanely hyped for Astrologian in HW it's a wonder I didn't get an embolism from being glued to my chair for 24 years speed-leveling it at launch, and it turned out to have a myriad of design issues and still continues to wreak havoc on the balance team wherever it goes. Even if/when the new healer job is revealed, I'm taking it with a truuuuuuuuuuuckload of salt (although admittedly, since I quit playing/raiding like 6 months ago, being casual does give me the freedom to main it even if it turns out to be undertuned or not meta).

Things like Diadem and Eureka have also promised big but failed to deliver, IMO. I'm not going to automatically dismiss new features as failures before they're even implemented, but so far IIRC only really PotD/HoH actually seemed to be a unique concept that worked out well in terms of fun, engagement, and reward factor.

I'm super excited too especially for Viera (finger crossed for male) and Yoko Taro.

Yeah, I completely agree... having Yoko Taro work on the next 24-man raid is going to be amazing.

And thanks as well for maintaining the hype that Yatoshishi started on this thread... seems a few people forgot the essense of the thread was to express her excitement with other like minded players and not delve into further complaints.

I'm not too hyped. I don't think I can ever be hyped, (Thank you Blizzard...) but I am a tad excited for Shadowbringers. (teased story and all)

Edit: Also as one who cannot do well the 24 man raids... I'm so interested in this upcoming one that I may suffer derision just to do them at least once. (Still haven't done the Monastery...simply because I died to every single stinking boss in the Lighthouse...)

So badly that that I don't have another MMO got fall back on when FFXIV hits the lulls! (I don't consider myself the most awesome-est writer in the country, but I could have written their disaster a lot better than they could have ever had!) XD

I'm not one to complain about a lot of things Blizz has done. I used to plug along and grind whatever they put before me... but I like a good story... and while WoW never had an awesome one, I didn't honestly think it could get worse. In contrast. ARR's Cliffhanger ending forced me to deal with that grind when it happened and I was happy to do it! Heavensward was an very good story. Stormblood kept me interested for a bit, not nearly as strongly as the others, but now with the newest story I'm dying for more. Darn you Part 2 why so far away?

(Is covered in bandages from a battle with WoW, a defeated look, and asylum seeking! XD)

Did the clothing designer at fanfest also not hint at it? She decided to show Dancer clothing and could have shown other designs instead. :)

Super excited about new beast tribes, new locations, and Ishgard restoration. Everything else so far looks really interesting and I can't wait to get in and explore it all. ^_^

Yep yep... exactly!

• New Gunbreaker job -- some of us have been waiting for this and Musketeer since 1.0!
• New zones --- beautiful music by Soken shown in both zones was just excellent
• New beast tribes
• New job class still to be announced
• New lore and storyline missions
• New 4-man mount
• New Viera race
• New Ishgard (the restoration DoH quests)
• New ways of communicating across servers (Cross world travel)
• New...

Just so much NEW stuff... its incredible. Can't wait.

I came across this comment and wanted to post my two cents on it.

Despite not playing nearly as long as most WoW players, I don't think my scars from WoW will ever fade. Not after, time and time again, they failed to deliver on their promises and blatantly lied to their playerbase without so much as a second thought and the insanely overpriced cash shop they now have as a crutch to lean on. I'll spare a long-posted rant, but suffice it to say that a large percentage of ex-WoW players will agree that it's tanked to the point of no return.

That's not to say XIV isn't without its faults, no game is perfect after all. But they're doing everything much better than Blizzard could ever hope to achieve.

Back on topic! Still witholding my hype for the actual game, but super hyped up as to what the last ShB trailer will have. I've been cooking up theories with a buddy of mine about it and I'm really 'looking forward to it'.
