And here we go.
A new tank and a new healer have been overdue. I have no complaints.
You could always just never be MT. :P
Sounds like someone didn't get to main what they wanted.
WELL Technically we never got Gunblader so you can still ask for Gunblader as a melee/ranged dps hybrid seeing as how Gunbreaker is just a broken Gunblader who can't use range.
Glad It's a tank, we have enough DPS for now as it is.
Do tank mains not deserve fun things? Y’all getting greedy.
No I agree with this.
BLU should've been the tank.
GUN should be a ranged physical dps that is the inverse of RDM.
Just take off their equivalent of a tank stance and you become a blue dps. Works with war, why not gun?
DPS need to learn to be content with what they've gotten and wait their turn. Stormblood came out with 2 DPS and a limited DPS. I primarily play healers but also tank as well. I've waited 3+ years for something new.
Not everything under the sun needs to be a DPS.
Like so many others have said, we're in need of more Tank/Healer jobs.
I doubt we'll see the last of new jobs added in ShB after the healer. I suspect another limited DPS job somewhere in the patch pipeline. And please don't kick off with "BuT LiMITeD JoBS ArENt a ReAL JoB!!!11!1!1!1!1". A jobs a job at the end of the day.
No. Frankly, we don't need any more DPS for a while. FFXIV needed a new tank and healer, and it is getting them.
Honestly it feels like Blue Mage was meant to be a DPS caster for Shadowbringer but during development, they didn't like how it turned out and decided to just release it as a limited job.
Technically, there are 3 of each main stat at the moment. 3 vit, 3 str, 3 dex, 3 mnd, and 3 int.
It was actually balanced until this expansion. Just sayin.

The class you're looking for is called Machanist
I was expecting it to be a tank, but I still lament that that means they'll just get some kind of magitek barrier for their LB 3 instead of something more iconic like Blasting Zone.
You can have your 5th Melee DPS after I get my 3rd Physical Ranged DPS, how about that?
I really don't care who gets what, so long as it's the most enjoyable form of the job. The problem is I don't see any role as being capable of doing all that interesting of stuff with Gunbreaker. Conceptually, it's awesome. On screen... it looks like a weird melee MCH swinging an overweight one-handed sword as if tantrum-crazed. XIV tanks aren't allowed real mobility, because tanking in XIV is mostly just holding still and being hit. Any and all of the cool stuff in the trailer is fundamentally impossible with our engine. Gunbreaker is perfect for a tank, just not an XIV tank.
Watch it just be a proc based priority system Tank to do it's stuff. Ugh.
Just let it be now since not many Jobs can be picked to be a Tank Job in FF series unless that Job been used by a "Main Character" in a FF game.
Tank Job has a iconic image for being the Leader/Hero of the group that takes the most damage for the team while leading the team into battle. With Squall being a character that charges into the fight more head on, I am not surprised considering this job is based around him.

I am still more for Modern Assassin instead to provide that sword/gun experience for a DPS job.
It would be interesting to have a Modern Assassin Job with the lore being that it was created from the demand for "specialists" in espionage, protection, and assassination due to internal fighting against different industries and potential threats to the people who own these industries.
We know competition among organizations and businesses are life threatening at times in FF14 world within different City States, Garlemald, and etc and sometimes "specialists" maybe needed to deal with these issues.
I was hoping for it to be a dps too but I've also said repeatedly through the years that I'd be fine if it was a tank. I ended my FF XI days as a PLD and I considered myself a darn good one. Guess it's about time things come full circle. Gunbreaker is coming and that is the job I've been waiting for since 2.0 launch. Every other job has been filler for me.
Hmm nty i dont want 2 see a million ppl named squall and saifer
My only complaint is that this means we now have 4 tanks that all primarily deal slashing damage and only 1 of them actually use a shield.
I was hoping for something that dealt piercing damage like say a pike+towershield or pull another monster hunter collab and give us a gunlance setup. Or go the route of blunt damage with a mace/Warhammer + shield or 2 handed warmaul or the magitek hammer we've seen in game.
I don't mind having tanks for this upcoming expansion; hell I welcome it. But I have to question Gunbreaker as one. Yes, I do understand it was one of the most requested jobs so SE did the smart choice of working on it for the expac but...
sigh
I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe the order of things we got was wrong? Like, I could see Gunbreak being dps IF SB had 1 tank and 1 healer/dps but because we got 2 dps AND Gunbreaker was highly requested, SE didn't have a choice.
Could they have put on hold Gunbreaker as dps? Maybe but it would've been a bad business decision.
I guess this was a situation where you can't win it all.
I don’t particularly care what job type it is, I am just a little upset about one thing some tanks do: the battle stance.
First we have Dark Knight with a crazy stance that looks twisted and should probably be breaking their wrists and now this: a rather explosive sword and we carrying that on our shoulder. Shouldn’t we be keeping a close eye on that and keep it facing forward?
Just my nit-picky rambling but it just really bothers me.
Personally, I'm nervous about Gunbreaker. It looks like it's basically Dark Knight with Reload instead of Dark Arts.
We have enough dps until 6 or 7.0 though. There is still another job to announce at Japan Fanfest.
I wanted it as a DPS too, not cause I wanted to play it as a DPS, but cause I wanted Rune Fencer to be added as the new tank. My secret hope was 3 jobs for 5.0, RUN as a tank with a focus on runic barriers, GUN as a DPS doing whatever SE thought was cool for it, and DNC being the healer doing whatever dancers do. That, however, was not to be, I guess. I'll most likely stay PLD for the time being, but the Monster Hunter Gunlance lover in me is keeping a very close eye on Gunbreaker for the time being. And since I've been tanking since 1.0 till now I'm pretty sure I can figure it out at level 60 without much trouble. ^^;
Fucj no .
First I want people to except Sam as good dpe for what he can do and not hate it for what it can't.
Then we get only 2 jobs so there no place for one more dps.
First they make DRK a tank, a job that should for all intents and purposes be a DPS
Then they make SAM a DPS, a job that should have been a tank.
And now we repeat the same mistake as DRK with GUN, a job that should be DPS turned in to a tank.
3/3 disappointments for me so far. All i want to do is kill things very effectively with a real sword.
