Maybe a better Housing buying system?

Right now the Housing buy system is reduced to spamming a placard for HOURS... I can't call that a very good system. Why not just make a Randomized Queue system where everyone that comes to a placard for sale gets put in a random pot and gets drawn at random?
If a player is selected to buy they have 280 seconds or something to make the buy or else it goes to another random draw.

I may just over-simplifying things but this seems like a much better idea to me than what we have...

The "random" component is already at place with the availability timer.

I mean there should be some sorta dedication to it if you really want it.
Just entering your name in a lotto doesn't sound like you yearn for it.
If you absolutely lust for this land, you need to put in the hard time, working up that sweat clicking that placard!

I was about to make a thread myself, joined the forum to specifically bring up this issue and promote suggestions to hope to see change in the way the housing content is run.

I am a new player to FFXIV and so far it has been a really fun and solid game. Then I ran into the player housing and it looked so fun and I was hyped to try it. I saved up money to be able to afford my house and waited for plots to show, only to be hit with error messages. I looked up information online and whilst I understand a system was put in place to stop people flipping housing for profit the result is unfairly punishing to new players and risks turning people off that content before they even get a chance to experience it. It has been like hitting a brick wall, camping random plots with no indication of when it might become available. Then people already with housing stroll up and instantly take the plot away. I understand that frees up their old plot but then that goes onto a random timer and the process repeats itself.

This system is a massive barrier to entry for new players and risks turning people like myself away from the game. I have a few suggestions I could give that come to mind which might provide a somewhat fairer system. Could you register your interest with an NPC for player housing, pay a deposit and then the game could tell you when a plot becomes available. It could be on first come first serve system or random. People wanting to move plots could also use it and have the same chance as new players getting their first house. I would even go so far myself to say it would make more sense to allow first time buyers to enter the housing as a priority as when someone joins the game you want them to stick around and not leave due to frustration to a system blocking them from taking part in the game. However I understand that might be bias on my side so making it even chance for both new and existing home owners. The current system is so one sided new players don't have a shot.

That's what people get from complaining about the previous system which worked perfectly fine.

I recently bought a place for a house. In Limsa. On Ragnarok.

I kinda have a feeling that there should be achievement for that. More so after so many hours of spamming a placard and several lost oportunities when somebody relocated or was more lucky with spamming. I was camping on one spot yesterday since 5:20 amand around 11 am I decided to run away to check other free spot and random timer was down. It was pure luck.

My friends asked me how I was able to purchase it. When I told them there were all: "No way. I think i will live without it."

Yeah I agree there should be a better Housing buying system

Well when you get grand fathered all those properties, clearly it's not going to effect you much in particular uh....

Who cares about a marginal amount of grandfathered houses when you can still stack 9 houses on the same server. 9 houses or 16, it doesn't make any difference considering a microscopic portion of the players even have more than 2 characters beyond level 50. The new set of rules hasn't changed anything other than make it more difficult for new players to acquire their first house.

Quite the opposite.
Thanks to the new set of rules, it is much easier found a free plot, and house reselling has been limited to those still abusing the hole in rules that still let you use a FC for the scope. Right today, in my server if you want a plot there are a number of them free here and there.

With old system, you were trapped in the hands of the few that hoarded everything.

If you want my opinion, not only the new system is light years better than the older, but I'd like all the people that have excess of housing with new rules, being forced to free the excess they have. Of course with some refund, because they didn't break any rule, but free that housing they still keep in excess with new rules.

What are you even saying, house reselling isn't limited to FCs since you can relocate FCs and personal houses. The new system doesn't prevent anyone from "hoarding" houses as you call it. Especially not on your dead server where theres literally 60 free plots in Mist. Many of which are at the bottom of their sales price because it's been weeks since they've been available. Your server is so dead that your FC to personal house ratio is 1:6 at best. On high pop servers, that ratio is much more closer to 1:2.

The new system hasn't changed anything on low-pop servers. Quite the opposite for your med to high-pop servers.

In my opinion, you didn't really think about what you were typing because it makes no sense. Especially not when you want to punish multi-house owners when there's hundreds of available houses on your server. :rolleyes:

It feels so nice when a person who just arrived bought a plot you've been camping and spamming for 13 hours because you went to the bathroom....Really a good system SE.
