BRD Attribute Points

Do you guys think VIT (or some other attribute) will affect Bard's enhancing skills?

I personally hope that it will be PIE, if anything, so I don't have to have separate equipment for DD and Enhancing.

I couldn't find anything from the devs.. :<

I don't see any reason, at this point, that SE would change the stat mechanics to vary from class to job.

Now that I think about it, I haven't really given too much thought on Bard attributes.

I'm wondering if the abilities that gradually restore MP or gradually increase TP will count as healing magic potency or enhancing magic potency (if they count at all).

Or as you say, one of the two auto-attack governing stats, Dexterity and Piety, may be used to govern job ability effectiveness too. It would be great if it t'were Piety!

I wouldn't really worry about it too much as chances are if something like VIT affected BRD songs the BRD AF will be boosting that anyway since the AF is meant for that job's role specifically. It's why I haven't put too much trouble into making a healing set on my CNJ besides a weapon.

Sorry I was bored. Yeah I think Attribute points for job/class will be the same unless they allow us to change it. Which I think they will and this post would be a great place to get a Dev post on the matter. :D

I don't think the mechanics will change. It's just that ARC/BRD is the only pairing I could imagine having an issue where a class needs completely separate stats from its job.

Obviously I can't know for sure--I'd be most likely to guess that ARC songs won't have a stat mod. But if they do, and it's not DEX/PIE(or STR, I guess), I'll be a little sad. Not enough to QQ, but a little. I just like to speculate and post threads on the forum, because no one's actually in-game right now to talk to. :<

I'm so new at this game, sorry. I applied most of my points to DEX/STR, and once I hit the cap for Archer will I have to have a specific amount of skill points in a certain stat to qualify? Also if I messed up on my stat distribution, could I reset them somehow without having to completely delete my character?

Also, do you have to be Level 50 Archer to become Bard?

As for stat distribution, that's something people debate over. Check out this post for some pretty good testing, but keep in mind that it doesn't test every WS.

Resetting your point allotment is a feature we're supposed to get in the future, but for now, if you messed up, you're stuck with it. DEX/STR doesn't sound like a horrible mistake or anything, so I wouldn't delete you character. :P You probably do want to add some PIE in the mix, though. ^^

You won't have to have ARC at 50 for Bard, just 30. :] But if I understand correctly, your BRD will share the level of your ARC, so if you're ARC33 you'll be BRD33, and when you hit ARC50 you'll be BRD50 (so to speak). Again, this is just my understanding, but a "job" is more like something you "equip" to your class (literally, you equip a stone).

1. No you don't need specific amounts of points for anything, they are just there so you can have some slight customization to your character. As far as what stats do what, this page on lodestone gives a nice rundown of what stats do. I'd take a look at the play guide on lodestone if you have any more newbie questions since it's actually well done now, but don't be afraid to ask about stuff on the forums too.

As for Archer stats, STR (Physical Damage boost) and DEX (Accuracy, boost to Archer's damage) are fine, but I'd recommend putting some points into PIE at some point. PIE increases Archer's damage, magic evasion, and enfeebling potency. The last of those makes it more likely for your added effects to land (Like the Bind effect of Shadowbind, the Blind effect of Gloom Arrow, etc) and can prove quite useful when you can more confidently rely on these effects sticking.

2. You currently can't reset stats, but I'm guessing we will be able to this coming patch next week. For now don't worry about where you put your stats too much. They are a nice boost but not too significant, and STR and DEX are useful for ARC anyway. As long as you avoid INT and MND, you should be fine.

3. All we know for now is that we need 30 Archer to unlock Bard, with a new Bard quest every 5 levels after that. Keep in mind that Bard is not separate from Archer. Bard is essentially a more specialized mode for large party play, and you can swap between Archer and Bard at will as the situation arises. Archer will be more useful for solo and small parties.

Nah, I believe several jobs would benefit greatly from differen stats then the class.

Paladin
PLD Abl. 2 Grants a HoT effect on all party members within range when a healing spell is cast on you. Would need MND to modify ability

PLD Mag. 1 Restores target HP. When cast on another player, restores 50% of their HP in addition to a portion of your own. Again, would appear to requre MND to modify ability

Warrior
WAR Abl. 1 Redirects a portion of the next damage you sustain back to its source. Various options for the modifier for this one

WAR Abl. 4 Increases the maximum HP and attack power of all party members within range, and removes any Sleep effects. Stuns all enemies within range. Possibly VIT to mod buff component, PIE for stuns.

Dragoon
DRG Abl. 3 Deals fire damage to all enemies within range of the target. Appears it should be modified by INT.

So , when you look at abilities individually, it definently appears that there are in fact, several abilities amoung a few jobs, that would appear to be just as likely to have issues of needing completely different stats needs for Job abilities then for class needs.

We dont know for sure how much the stats increase our damage and magic enhancing, but one thing for sure is that dex and pie give a boost on your damage according to what the dev team posted about stat allocation, i dont think af alone will give better stats in the long run although those sets might have a bonus for having a full set like other MMO's we'll know in a few days now, in my op. i would recomend you always look for dex and pie, remember that bard comes from archer as main so its logical to bet for those stats, the logic that XI had in stats doesnt apply here, they might give you enhancing for songs with pie or dex, who knows.

What he is saying is VIT already determines your enhancing magic potency....
So Archer doesn't need VIT but Bard could probably use it

Yeah i saw that, but what if the af is more balanced in enhancing magic? we still need attack gear, i've never been married with gear sets only if those gears give a special bonus for wearing complete sets.
