I understand your frustration and sympathize with the situation. Bots are a rampant problem in the game.
However, a post like this constitutes as a 'name and shame' and will result in your thread getting deleted and you possibly getting a temp ban over it. Either edit out the names or delete the post entirely.
gladly delete the post can they get banned? its just these two sorry if im not up to date on trends for being pc
First off how do you know these people are even bots? As far as I know nodes are on specific timers and appear in a rotation. It's not uncommon to see everyone gather when the node is scheduled to pop.
Secondly we do not name and shame here. I recommend you edit this post to black out names and remove them text wise.
Thirdly is this really what you're gonna complain about? People moving in on your turf gil wise? These aren't the flood of malicious gil bots that we have to deal with on a daily basis.
do i have to remove pic too?
they been on 24/7 for months
It’s not about being PC — these forums have a very strict name-and-shame policy. Naming the characters here will not get them reported more often or get them banned; it will only result in you getting a ban (temporary or permanent) from the official forums. Nothing more, nothing less.
also i get it for shards not my turff this is high level stuff its the only two on this server so I dont care how much you stick up for bots they wrong.
Hopefully they will get banned, but the issue about naming anyone in threads like these isn't a matter of being PC or not; it falls under the harassment policy of the forum ToS. The mods are usually pretty draconian about this sort of thing and if anyone reports the post, they'll nuke it very quickly and you'll be the one who get's in trouble, not the bots. Which is the height of injustice, I know, but still how the forum rules are set up.
By all means, keep the post up, but delete the names and edit them out of the screenshot. It's not worth you getting a temp ban while the bots get off scot free.
just go to duskglow anytime of day you will find them
My screenshot, but the "bots" have been reported by I don't know how many people on Brynhildr and nothing happens to them. We all know who their retainers are, they flood the market with 99 stacks of all the end game gathering materials. They only have yellow script gear equipped, undyed, unglammed. They always have status set to busy so you cant message them. Its sad, for 2 months these accounts have been going 24/7. You can sit at any profitable SB node before it pops and watch them both come like clock work.
It's nearly meaningless to be a gatherer on our server because of them.

sorry tried to use report system didnt work all is well now?
I'm not defending botting. I'm simply stating that SE won't take action until their certain that the player is botting and not just playing a lot. I personally play a crap ton because I'm on disability so my playtime is a lot more than others.
Yeah it's a pretty nasty thing to do. But there's only so much that can be done until law makers start tacking action against bots that affect a paid service.
a gm has to tp them 2 feet see them miss there mark or trade them throw off tp then they will stand around its not that hard to tell they bots
TBH I am actually benifiting from it bc the stuff i sell i was buying the matts cheap and didnt relize it was them I dont like the idea of feeding them
Gathering should be harder to execute in my opinion so no bots will be able to make it freely.
The point is that its just these two and have been reported multiple times. sorry for breaking the rules I play the game I don't usually post here. All is well now?
You're wasting your time reporting them. Nothing will happen. GMs aren't allowed to do anything about bots no matter how obvious and the STF might as well not exist when it comes to these types of bots.
Sadly, Vnolan is correct—reporting does very little; making noise does very little. There have been previous PLL Q&A threads where posters here have made posts requesting that the developers address the botting issues, and the lack of action when it comes to reports. Those questions have mostly been ignored in favor of answering “When can we get X glamour items on X job”.
There are several gathering and crafting bots on my server that have been reported by a myriad of individuals since SB dropped, and they have never been punished for it. I even reported 3 of them for botting in Anemos when it was current. They’re still there, though. Every day. Botting away. Destroying the consumables market on my server to the point other crafters have transferred to other servers. I stopped reporting because my reports seemed to fall on deaf ears.
This isn’t me defending botting. This is just me saying it gets tiring to take the time to fill out reports when nothing is ever done about those who are repeatedly reported by multiple people.
lets get lost in the details and get nothing done! like me here I'm done.
Not naming and shaming on the OF is in the forum’s ToS. Again, that doesn’t make it “PC”—PC means “politically correct”. I’m giving you the definition here because you seem to be conflating “being PC” with “following the rules”. Asking you to abide by forum guidelines of “don’t name and shame other players” is not being politically correct. It’s asking you to follow the rules of the forum.
There's really no reason to be belligerent. Especially when most of the people here were only "correcting" you for your own sake. You seem to be laboring under the impression that we either like or at the very least are apathetic about the bots you called out. We aren't. Would you rather we said nothing and you got slapped with a ban instead?
You seem to understand that the forum guidelines include a zero-harassment policy and that 'naming and shaming' falls under that policy- i.e. it's against "the rules". What we seem to disagree on is if "the rules" are inherently "PC" (at the same time using PC in a manner that conveys negative connotations, which is another matter entirely). The fact of the matter is, this is a public forum for an online game that is played (and paid for) by an extremely large and a wildly diverse group. "The rules" have to be PC in this situation, if for no other reason than SE needs to cover their behind (note that I can't even use the word I would like to here, for the same reason) and make sure that no one, in this diverse group has legitimate grounds on which to base a complaint, let alone an actual lawsuit.
TL;DR- Anonymous people on the internet have tendency to act like children, so SE is forced to treat us like children, and make overly-strict rules to ensure that we all play nice.
belligerent no, maybe due to being text you fail to understand my tone. This is the type of rhetoric that derails topics and misses the point so that is the only thing I don't really like. Thank you for adding to that for real because maybe some of you guys who do that looks like with 1000's or 100's of posts (I can assume) may realize it after a while of being told to stop taking topics off of the point just may. with heart of hearts, hopefully they do something useful have a nice day! WTB 50 posts about stopping these two bots Only 10mil gil lol jk (bc may be against TOS and no one reads that)
I mean, you could just stop responding to those who are correcting you. By chastising them for derailing your thread, you are continuing and contributing to the derailment.
And this seems fairly belligerent to me. At the very least, it’s snarky for literally no reason.
All because I had the audacity to tell you “don’t post names publically or you’ll get banned” and for telling you that asking you to follow the rules for the sake of your account is not being politically correct?
You claim the bots are in your FC, so I'd think you could at least get them removed if you brought it up to the leadership. Then again, I tried that with a FC that supposedly values fair play on my own server, but they stubbornly cling to the ideology that "Only the GMs or STF have the right to take any kind of action against them". Oh, those poor ignorant souls.
To be honest, I think the majority of the player base is utterly blind when it comes to identifying bots, because they have a movement pattern that's unlike anything you'll actually see from legitimate players (Looking for the telltale "Mount up, awkward pause, then jump in place and fly away" is just one of many obvious signs).
Personally, I've been doing everything can to address them on a level that's not going to put me at risk of getting banned because of reciprocal salt. If I see them in my hunt linkshells, for instance, I purge them ASAP.
Blacklist, report, don't buy their stuff, spread the message in game. That's all you can do about bots.
EDIT:
Forgot to specify, "spreading the message". I mean really location of botters and what they're known to sell, not necessarily character name; was in a hurry when I typed that out as usual. names. Thanks KageTokage for pointing that out
If you do decide to do this, just make sure you're extremely discreet about it, because "name-shaming" is still an offense in-game and the inability for GMs to investigate reports for cheating coupled with their "innocent until proven guilty" stance by default favors the botters over their detractors.
I've also found most of the botters I've actually interacted with to be extremely petty and the sort who'd swiftly file reports if they had adequate evidence to get someone punished, too.
man i feels bad kid allow me to correct myself again, bel·lig·er·ent - hostile and aggressive. that's a definition for ya and what one looks like I was neither(projecting your hostile aggression I could see how that's a thing). Furthermore someone a GM I believe said things had to be removed was removed you felt a need to reiterate and further derail topic as you are now again. please stop again as I keep responding to you in a please stop manner. if your not going to help with the problem please there plenty of other posts here and people who want to talk to you.
we have 1 rule in are fc do what you want your thing seems to be on forums and such do that just not here unless you have a way to help please and thank you. That way a gm wants to sort thru this and do something doesn't have to sift through all this garbage.
sorry if i seemed hostile really trying to help my entire fc comprised of primarily crafters and gathers getting discouraged by the game and unsubbing from just these two bots.
Interrupting bots with trades is also not a good idea as a lot of them are being monitored and they can/will file reports for harassment if they notice you doing it. Heck, even if they just scroll back through their chat log when they wake up and notice it they'll still have enough evidence to get a GM on your case.
I feel like a lot of them specifically avoid turning on Do Not Disturb status just so they can do this, since they have to know they're pissing people off.
This response is pretty hostile.
None of the individuals who have responded to you here are GMs. We are all players just like you. It is rare for any thread to get a GM or Community Rep response in any subforum aside from Technical Support.Quote:

Again, you could just not respond. But you continue to feel the need to.Quote:

I was attempting to help you keep your forum account by stating the OF's policy on posting names. You're welcome for that.Quote:
