Carbuncle Mount Music Change Feedback

First, thanks to the dev team for providing us with a lot of excellent content in the 4.5 patch. I do, however, seriously regret the changes to the Carbuncle Mount's Music. I just bought this when it recently went on sale, and really enjoyed the music that came with it, and now it has been replaced with something that's very, very different. I won't claim that nobody enjoys it, but I certainly don't.

After doing a little research, I've found out that not only can I no longer listen to that music while mounted, I actually can't even buy an Orchestrion Roll for it, as they were only distributed in a limited-edition run of a $40.00 audio Blu-Ray. Even if I were to track such a product down and purchase it, the digital content codes that came with it have expired.

I feel like this is a situation where the rug has been pulled out from under me a little, and I would like to find out if the Borderless track will be added back into the game in another form. If not, is there any way to seek a refund for the purchase of my Carbuncle mount?

Wasn't borderless also the mount music to many of the other non-mog mounts, like the beast tribe mounts, twintania, and middy? Or did they change that, too?

I hate it, it does not feel right while riding my carbuncle anymore. Was really excited to hear what it changed to but now I am just flat out disappointed. Stashing him for the time being :(

I don't play mount music most of the time anyway but I'm not sure how I feel about this, either. It's magick-y, I get that, but it's not unique or cute enough, imo. I don't hate it, just... eh.

I have to agree. I don’t like Borderless (the flying mount theme for non-primal/non-special mounts), but I really don’t like the theme they chose for the Carbuncles, the Panda, the Whale, and even Red Hare (which is the theme from Hullbreaker NM). I don’t know anyone that have the Fire Wheels mount, so I’m not sure what theme it uses, but probably the same as the others.

I guess they were going for a cutesy sound for the cutesy mounts? I’m not sure. But I will be keeping mount music off when I use the Carbuncles.

The Nezha Chariot uses the same music as Red Hare. Both the whale and carbuncle mount music now reminds me of Palace of the Dead's waiting room.

I was honestly hoping they'd give the whale a lunar whale tune, but...eh...keeping my mount music off.

What's the new bgm for the mount? is it a whole new one?

I actually like the new carbuncle mount music, it fits the mount better than the previous generic music.

Can be done in your Sound System Setting. There is a option to specifically turn the music for mounts off.

Thank you I found it and turned it off. Not quite sure why they'd change music and not give users the option to use the older one. A number of my friends weren't happy with this change either.

Because the system isn't built for it. It's sadly that simple. And if they could already have given you a pick for BGM selection, I should hope they'd double down and just let you pick a mount theme, whichever you wanted. Could even be things saved locally so as to not burden the servers with saving that info.

The new theme for Red Hare would be Horizons Calling by Nobuo Uematsu, it was actually an old FFXIV version 1.0 track (it was the theme that played when you rode on the Vesper Bay to Limsa ferry). Ironically it was one of the very first pieces of FFXIV music I ever heard, as SE had it playing by default on the old FFXIV 1.0 teaser website back in 2009 when FFXIV 1.0 was first announced. But then I also like Borderless too so it figures I guess. ;)

I turned the mount music off. I can live with the background music when i ride. Not the best option but prefer that than listening to music I don't care for all that much.

Does it actually do that, though? I swear I remember turning my music off way back when I got tired of the chocobo theme, and all I got was silence and zone noises. My big complaint was that I couldn't turn my mount music off and just listen to the background music... but if I was wrong/they changed it, I'll be very happy. I prefer some zone music to some mount music.

It has always played the background music if you turned the mount music off. Maybe a bug on your end or you tried it out where it was mostly silent.

Good to know, thanks! I'll try it again. Too bad you can't toggle it per mount, but eh. There's always something.

Oh wow if it really plays PoTD music I'm never buying it. I have PTSD from PoTD.

I really like that tune from potd, so I'm good with the change.
