A Plea For Flying Fish Lizards

Greetings friends,


I was positively enthused to complete the beast tribe quest line for the Sahagin. As a reward, I was given an exclusive and prestigious opportunity to purchase my very own fish lizard, also known as a "Cavalry Elbst". A highly majestic and beautiful creature that, when unaltered, has even the strength to carry a fully grown roegadyn across the seas. Simply magnificent.

How disappointed I was when, after I had unlocked flight in Heavensward, of all the many mounts I could take to the skies, my fish lizard was not one of them. I was crushed. Disheartened. Crestfallen. My entire experience was ruined. Words cannot express the grief I felt as I tried with all my heart to take to the skies with my fish lizard, yet no matter from what height I attempted to jump from, I was unable to achieve flight. My dreams were shattered, much like the sorrowful remains of my character on the ground.

To be given even greater insult, the cavalry drake and laurel goobbue (fantastic mount btw), mounts from a similar reward tier, were given the boon of aerodynamic transportation. How can this be? Are you saying these are more important than my fish lizard? Of which took equivalent hard work and perseverance to acquire? Never have I been so insulted.

And yes, for the more arrogant of those reading this, I am aware the description for the mount alleges that the webbing of the feet have been clipped, and thus it is unable to swim, and thus it is unable to fly since all mounts that can fly can also swim. At some point, when literal bombs-- creatures with a disdain for water-- are being used for nautical conveyance, then immersion is a moot point! If necessary, the description can be changed, much like many of the other descriptions that have been adjusted. Whatever it takes for my fish lizard to fly.

I have been very patient thus far, but it is clear some... incentive is required to coerce action to be taken. Every day I go without my flying fish lizard, I am going to find a lalafell and make them cry. I hate that it had to come to this, but I will see my needs met. Don't make me do this.

Careful now, we don't take kindly to people who pick on our fellow lalas.

This was a hilarious and well-crafted post, thank you. I find a lot of the mounts that can fly to be silly and it takes away from the ones with wings or other means of conveyance.

I’m still mad that the fish lizard doesn’t spray water like the beast tribe one does.

And what about my giant wolf! I gained it the same way and it falls off those same cliffs. And worse yet, it was birds that gave it to me that I helped build an airship! An airship so that these flightless birds could fly, but then the wolf they give me hasn't been filled with wind aether?! The maddness!

Meanwhile, those tasty namazu hold on for dear life as I fly around and I can't even land in a volcano to cook them properly!

just make all mounts fly. I want a flying unicorn and the the whole "immersion" argument was broken the moment goobus could fly

In the NN yesterday a returning player said "... did I just see a whale fly by?"

Mentor reply was along the lines of "Yes you did, just ignore it"

This post is beautifully crafted and now I feel like I'm emotionally invested in flying fish lizards. I don't even have a fish lizard! ...I should probably work on that.
SE, make it happen!

Honestly one of my biggest frustrations going into HW content was how many of the mounts I was using couldn't fly, so were near useless. The elbst made the perfect fisher mount, but couldn't fly, so had to swap it. I liked the drake as a DRG mount, but had to swap (can fly now, evidently, but I also have actual dragons, so..).

I liked having tailored mounts for each job/class, and just didn't have enough flying mounts that fit the bill.

It was Bismark, don't worry about it. He just flew down from the Sea of Clouds after being summoned once again.

I was disheartened to find out the ponies couldn't fly. :'(

Meh, I'm of the mind that they should have only granted flight to specific mounts as to not break immersion, but people wanted the QoL I guess. Still, seeing Goobues and Elephants flying is weird to me...but it is an FF title, so whatever...

A flying lizard mount would be nice.

My malnourished mutt can fly now, but not my Fish Lizard?! The Fish Lizard is forgotten again?!

I'm sure it won't be long before all mounts can fly. I believe it's just the original tank mounts plus the Elbst and the Couerl left now.

Wich is a shame, because all these models already have flying animations.

The Elbst uses the same same base model as the Drake from the Amalj'aa and the armored tank mounts are the same models as the original tank mounts and the Coeurl. It's just a matter of copypasting. But well, the flying animation for all the ponies was ready to copypaste since 2.1, when they added the Pegasus mount...

At least they could add flying to the Coeurl, since we have to pay extra for that mount.
