Blue Mage Skill Acquisition

This thread is to help people acquire the blue mage abilities if they wish to, any further information given will result in updating initial post for quick reference for people, information credit will be given at bottom of post.
Please note Duties have a lower chance of giving abilities than the over world mobs so if an ability can be acquired in both the over world and a dungeon etc i will post the dungeon as additional information.

The format (atm) goes as follows;
Ability name - Monster/boss acquired from, Location, any additional information

Abilities Known:

Water Cannon(Gun) - Default, unlock Blu, need something to start with right :p

Bad Breath - Stroper(morbol mobs in general), Central Shroud by Haukke Manor, South Shroud east of camp tranquil, East Shroud Larkscall (much later acquisition than others), Guildhest More than a Feeler (Lv30)

Flying Sardine - Apkallu, Eastern La Nosca near entrance to Lower La Nosca (Costa del Sol side), Can get from Call Me Mating Battleleve

1000 needles - Sabotender Bailaor, Southern thanalan by entrance to Central thanalan, also in Cutter's Cry

Mighty Guard - Unknown, Unknown, Most likely acquired from Masked Carnival as no known enemy uses it/or totem hand ins

Glass Dance - Shiva, Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Extreme) only

Mountain Buster - Titan, The Navel(hard) and The Navel(Extreme)

Song of Torment - Siren, Pharos Sirius (normal)

4-tonze Weight - Ultros, The Dragon's Neck, 2nd trial of Hildabrand questline in ARR starts in Ul'dah at lv 50

Snort - Tyhoon, The Dragon's Neck

High Voltage - ADS, binding coil of bahamut turn 1, can also do turn 2

Flying Frenzy - Zu, Pharos Sirius normal, 2nd boss must kill an egg not chicken adds to trigger

Aqua Breath - Ultros , The Dragon's Neck, 2nd Hildabrand ARR trial

Plaincracker = Gogmagolem aka Biggy,Copperbell hard mode, 2nd boss must not push his hp too low to trigger earthen heart phase it is a fast aoe around boss

Acorn Bomb- Treant Sapling, North Shroud Peacegarden, only 1 spawns can be gotten in amdapor keep hm

Bristle - Wild boar, East Shroud the Bramble patch, it's a buff with no cast time

Mind Blast - Galvanth the Dominator, Tam-tara deepcroft normal, last boss

Blood drain - Bat enemies, Lower la Nosca near entrance to middle la nosca, East shroud The bramble patch as next location but lower la nosca is earliest

Bomb Toss - goblin enemies, Western Thanalan NE of the Silver Bazaar (X19.0, Y26.0) earliest as lv 8 enemies, Western la nosca just north of Aleport

Drill cannons - Magitek Vanguard H-2, Northern Thanalan Raubahn's push, very specifically the H-2 models the normal ones do not use it

The look - Anantaboga, amdapor keep normal, last boss

Sharpened knife - Tonberry King , Wanderer's palace normal, don't kill tonberrys it's the attack after he applies his buff sharpened edge

Loom - Phantom knight, Tam-tara deepcroft hard mode, 3rd coffin after 1st boss it is the dash to you so make sure for spawning be as close to coffin to get as many casts as possible. B rank in northern thanalan may have it

Flamethrower - Gobmachine G-VI, Brayflox's Longstep Hard mode, last boss

Faze - Qiqirn Shellsweeper, Central Thanalan The Rat's nest, all qiqirns have this cone aoe

Glower - Coincounter, Aurum Vale, 2nd boss, line aoe that gives paralysis

Missile - Gilgamesh, Battle on Big Bridge, 1st Hildabrand ARR trial

White Wind - Enkidu, Battle at Big Keep, You need to lower Gilgamesh's hp in phase 1 to trigger 3rd Hildabrand ARR trial might be totems

Final Sting - Killer Wespe, Middle la nosca Three-Malm bend, possible to get in Suken temple of qarn/Hullbreaker Isle

Self destruct - Glide Bomb, Western thanalan near copperbell mines entrance, do not kill let it kill itself

Transfusion - cannot find, might be Masked carnivale or totems

Toad oil - Giggling toad, Western thanalan north of Waking Sands, Must be giggling toads lv24 its a buff with no cast time

Off-guard - cannot find, either masked carnivale or totems

Sticky Tongue - Laughing toad, Western thanalan north of Waking sands

Tail Screw - Karlabos, Satasha hm, 1st boss

Level 5 petrify - Ahriman Trash mobs , Labyrinth of the Ancients possible in Haukke manor

Moon flute - cannot find, either masked carnivale or totems

Doom - Angra Mainyu, World of Darkness, 1st boss might be totems

Ice Spikes - Trickster Imps, Central Shroud Spirithold

The ram's voice- Chimera, Cutter's Cry, last boss also 50 trial Dhorme Chimera

The dragon's voice - Chimera, Cutter's Cry

Peculiar light - Lentic Mudpuppy, Mor Dhona The Tangle, can be gotten in Brayflock's Longstep normal after 2nd boss

Ink jet - Kraken, Satasha hard mode, must be satasha hm version

Diamondback - Cuca Fera ,2nd boss of Stone Vigil hard mode

Feather Rain - Garuda, Howling Eye hm, also Extreme mode

Fire Angon - Frumious Koheel Ja, The Wanderer's palace hard mode, 1st boss

Eruption - Ifrit, Bowl of Embers all versions

Shock Strike - Ramuh, The stiking Tree both versions

Veil of the Whorl - Leviathan, Wharleater extreme

Oh, so that bow attack is Extreme only? Well, that'll be something.

ty ^^ i just went into the duties and over world and hit stuff for hours to test with confirmed animations like titan's tankbuster in the trailer and livestream info/screenshots it's why i cannot tell which siren ability we are getting because 3 skills have very similar animations.

I have already been putting a list of potential skills and enemies you might learn them from. I am a long time FF veteran, and am very familiar with almost all of BLU's FF incarnations.

Have a read if you want. Feel free to add anything with potential to the list.

Someone on Reddit datamined the game to figure out what the 49 spells are. They don't have exact locations, but a number of them can be surmised based on the abilities.

Upon looking again, I see OP was already aware of that. Oops.

I would assume abilities like Mighty Guard that aren't on any (ARR) enemies, are obtained that way...




And for a few abilities on the list, enemies that do have them...

White Wind, Enkidu at the Battle in the Big Keep, he casts it on Gilgamesh on a regular basis.

Aqua Breath, pretty sure it's on Ultros in The Dragon's Neck, you need to get hit by it as a kappa.

Diamondback, the second boss in Stone Vigil (Hard), Cuca Fera. It's the ability that makes him immune to damage and reflect the cannons.

Acorn Bomb, pretty sure either generic Treant enemies, or at least Amdapor Keep (Hard)

Here's a document me and a friend have been working on that has most of the datamined information compiled.

Again, nothing here is 100% certain. It may very well be possible some abilities are available from more than just the monsters on this list and I'll probably continue updating it once BLU is live and there's more info.

I hate Gigantoads so much. Why did they have to have two spells?

Currently found all i could with any information that might be useful

So Blu the solo job has skill distribution as followed:
1 default skill
16 that can be gotten from the overworld
4 unknown locations(totems most likely)
28 from dungeon/trials/masked carnivale/totems

all in all good luck pfing future Blue mages ;)

Actually. If this page is correct, only 25 of the skills come from dungeons / trials.

no matter what couldn't get Dryads to do Acorn bomb, Loom will be tied to B rank, never saw a cactuar in southern thanalan do 1000 needles, same with self destruct and final sting so they may have fates tied to mobs that used them i'll add that in ty ^^

Square added 6 new overworld mobs in patch 4.5 whose only purpose seems to cast specific Blue Magic, so there's your answer. These mobs can be used to obtain Toad Oil, 1000 Needles, Self-destruct, Final Sting, Drill Cannons and Peculiar Light.

Ty for that ^^ other than toad oil the rest were already in game on existing mobs just in duties guess they wanted to make sure were more mobs outside for them
