How to Craft iL380 items as a level 1 Gladiator

So, I was browsing the i380 weapons for sale on the Omega MB, when i got curious as to why there were a huge influx of new listings at really low prices, don't get me wrong, i don't mind low prices and competition , but after checking the name on the crafted items, i couldn't help but notice the character is a level 1 gladiator with nothing else unlocked.


So, how does that work?

Main crafts the weapons.
Main sends the weapons to an alt character - either by FC-chest, through a friend or they've used the "you can befriend your own alts"-glitch back when that was working.
Alt sells the weapons.

I dont know if there is some sort of fishy activity involved, but it sounds very much as if someone just created an alt for market-purposes... then again... you need to unlock retainers for that and you dont get those til you kill Ifrit... so... probably fishy after all? Unless they've changed something about that or that alt bought a story-jump-potion, kept the level but unlocked everything, including retainers?

My first guess would have been something to do with changing servers or something losing the actual crafter ID and substituting something else. But just to be sure, the name wasnt "Obtaining Signature" or something was it? Because thats a generic system name that the game uses when it cant verify who the creator was for some reason.

If you buy the story progression item from the mog station doesn't it unlock everything? I think it unlocks chocobos, grand companies, and other story related stuff. It may unlock access to retainers as well. But if the person didn't also buy a job leveling item, they'd still be level 1. That's my guess on what happened, it's an alt character.

The name is only four letters, (for example: Ab Cd) and they list 10 to 15 of an item, with multiple retainers, for example the WHM i380 weapon usually selling for 800k to over a million they list 10 at 500k each and all of them are signed by the same name.
If you move world it would just say "Obtaining Signature" if i remember correctly.


Story skip doesn't explain how to get your name signed on items you can't actually create, though, the lodestone shows this character has 0 of 300 exp, so it hasn't even exited the starting instance or you'd get 50 of 300 exp (lodestone).
Something seems amiss.

Definitely sounds like a RMT seller/bot. It's a classic RMT-type name and they've been wreaking havoc on the Rakshasa/Onishi markets on multiple servers lately.

I have no idea how they're making items on a lv1 gladiator though. Last time they were crafting their items on one realm with craft bots, loading them on an alt, transferring the alt to a new server and unloading everything fast. Maybe they're name changing their actual crafters to avoid detection.

Enix will ban these guys, so do send a detailed report. The last 3-4 occurances were banned and vanished from the mb's entirely.

Also this is one reason I find the World Visit buying items on any realm baffling. They've got a nasty crafter RMT issue and they're basically giving them the entire datacentre as a market to find buyers.

If I make an item, and FC chest it to my alt, it still has my signature even if she MBs it. So for me the L1 pally as the maker is a BIG WTF.

On the world visit bit, We cannot sell on the MBs, I think we can buy from the MBs but don't yet know. I have no idea if we will be able to trade. Trading would be a bit broken.

But if we can buy I could transfer gil to my Jenova alt.

Confirmed we can buy. Buyers will most likely go to the cheaper realms to buy items, setting the market to those prices. Therefore if a bot established themselves on any one realm, the entire data centre would be potential customers.

I could be wrong, hopefully I am, but we'll have to see.

Maybe character Ab Cd on server X makes item, character Wx Yz transfers servers with a full inventory, seperate character Ab Cd on server Y lists the item? Seems like a lot of steps to go through, but that might be possible.

Character who made them was deleted, and a new character was created (but never played, so still level 1, 0 XP) with the same name? Maybe

But I'm not sure why the maker's signature would be intact rather than changed to "Obtaining Signature".

I know that I made some gear for somebody who transferred servers and his gear still has my name on it.

That really does seem odd...like, you can't even join an FC at level 1, can you? It sounds fishy.

You can.

But a L1 cannot access Ishgard or the far east for class quests.
