What happens to houses with the expansion, as I keep hearing about the EU Data Center thing going into 2 instead.. or how is that going to work out?
Why would the new datacenter influence the houses?
The servers are staying intact, they're only shuffled into new datacenters and new servers are being added, so more houses on those servers.
Nothings gonna happen to the existing ones, they're not merging servers or anything, just assigning them new datacenters.
There's two new servers being added to EU (one to Chaos, one to Light), so that's 8640 new houses right there (4,320 per new server).
The keynote on Friday said about Ishgard housing, but crafters/gatherers would have to make it happen first (that's all the details we got...)
The worlds as a whole are being reorganized to different datacenters. The only way housing will be effected is if someone currently with a house opts to transfer to a different world. As the house doesn't carry over when you transfer worlds, their plot will be demolished and they will be compensated the cost of the plot + 3 mil gil for possible furniture loss (apartments receive 500k + 500k for furniture).
The problem is, that some housing-stuff is event stuff you cant put back to your inventory. And you cant buy this stuff with gil.
Didn't it get suggested that Ishgardian Housing MIGHT be a thing next expac? So if that happens, then suddenly there will be a lot more properties available for purchase on every world so housing might not be a big issue.
What happens? People will still cry about not having a house because SE keeps reducing the prices for no reason.
I could have sworn there was some kind of incentive for fc housing as well, but searches just bring up a small snippet of it being on the to-do list as of June 2017.
Unless there's something I missed it looks like the fc plot will have to be left behind with no compensation from the game systems.Quote:
We plan to continue introducing new incentives and updates following the release of 4.0, including bonuses to accommodate the transfer of entire free companies and free company housing. [ SOURCE ]
I wouldnt worry about that - they can easly (and most likely will) offer free transfers to the new severs only when they come live, just as they did with the newly added servers with SB and how they offered free transfers from certain servers.
I'm not sure what you're refering to here? All event stuff can be placed back in your inventory - obviously with teh exception of food that you've eaten from. By default all event items can go back into your inventory.
If you look at the newer servers, most of them have plenty of available housing. And by default, a brand new server will start with all open plots. If your housing needs are generic(any plot any city) you will have no issues at all. The people whos "needs" are more specific(must be specific plot, must be mansion size, must be specific city) are the only ones with anything to worry about. Low-medium population servers had available mansions outside of Shiro for a week or more(was almost a month on my server) the last time they expanded housing. Something to think about.
Unless something is changing, you won't get compensation for FC housing. You specifically have to leave your FC to be able to transfer so maybe they'll say differently before the free transfers open, but for now it would be safer to just assume you would have to leave the house.
They had said before (just before Stormblood) about an entire FC transferring to a different server, but that never happened and they never mentioned it ever again.
You could always just leave the FC (and house) with an alt, transfer over and make a new FC etc and then wait for the old house to demolish and transfer that alt over with the 80% of the house money. You may have to pay for a transfer at this point though.
I can see people from no-house servers popping over to ours, buying them up and then spending the majority of their time playing on their original server with friends.
Possibly, but to buy a house on your server they'd need to world transfer to your server (visitors can't purchase) and then I have to wonder how practical that'd actually be for them as they wouldn't be able to talk to friends on another server via FC or Linkshell (FC chat would work, but has to be a FC on your server, not theirs and LS chat won't work at all when they're visiting the other server)
You don't have to be in a linkshell or FC together to talk with your friends.
You can send tells to cross world friends on your friends list. You can't have a group discussion that way but you can still talk with them individually.
You can be in a party together assuming no one is trying to queue for a duty the rest of the group won't be doing.
If you're world visiting and in the same location you can use /say.
For someone on Balmung who's been wanting a house for a long time and can't get it because of the competition, taking advantage of the free transfer to move to a world on the same data center with housing available could be worth it when being with their friends is just a matter of a world visit. They can even continue to trade items with friends by having someone list their item on the MB and the other player visiting their world to buy it (assuming you can't trade with cross world players directly). It could easily be worth the attached annoyances in their eyes for the sake of finally getting a house.
