Embrace the darkness!
Its finally our time!
bring the darknes, down with the warrior is time to fight for zodiark!!
We're gonna slap hydealyn in the... Crystal!!! And kill every moggle on Eorzea! Because we are the darkness!
And, I guess it's time for us to make destruction upon Eorzea... We will become... Bahamut... Yeah no... I'm going too far..
I knew this day would come! I knew I just had to keep the faith. Yoshi has truly rewarded me, and indeed, all of us. Praise be to him.
It's about time. <3
Let's hope if there are any changes, they get just as much love and hype as that reveal trailer did.
It's about to go DOWN! lol
Kind of wonder how the combined MP and TP thing will change things for us.
That aside, Fray is going to be so happy that we're finally cutting loose. Probably.
I really hope SE lets DRK lore get even deeper with our "dark side aka Fray" this coming expansion. I really enjoyed the story from 30-50 mainly how the lvl50 quest ended with our other side saying "but know that when you tire of this charade, I shall be here...waiting to take the reins...
you need only ask..."
50-60 was meh
60-70 was pretty on par, specially at the end, once again.
So I'm really hoping for some deep diving into how DRK plays out when we become "warriors of darkness".
Also yes some QoL and overall improvements to the job are very welcome indeed.
I'm pretty sure they are gonna double down on the blood gauge and make it work similar to how beast gauge works for WAR in 4.0. ex Dark Passenger costs 20 gauge etc. What I think they might do about the MT/TP consolidation is something akin to a stamina bar similar to other games like Soulsborne and monster hunter. This would make sks and sps more viable because if having a certain amount of sks can get you more regen for an extra action before bottoming out that may be worth it. Dark souls had dexterity, equipment and weight that affected the amount of regen the stamina bar will have after performing an action and this was heavily considered in serious builds.
I really think it's more likely that there just won't be TP costs any more, guys. It really only matters for AoE and TP based AoE isn't really that absurd on potency to need the gate.
Excited and worried at the same time; Obviously Derplander turning into DRK just... OMG I did NOT see that coming. But I have a gut feeling that Shadowbringers is just going to be SB2 because of how Stormblood was handled in terms of content(Pagos can go die Pyros' fire for all I care) though 24 man raids have been the more interesting part at least until you hit burnout level, and Role actions feel like they were designed with a completely different audience in mind that doesn't even play the game at even midcore level, and same can be said for balance adjustments when Stormblood launched(among other issues but that was because of people coming back to the game and expecting things to not break during early access).
The fact that the devs are taking precautions with 5.0 early access into account along with what people have been complaining about for a good while now shows that is hope still, albeit slim... If pre-order gives players a ton of DRK glamour items then I will get pre-order just for that but I will not expect things to work on early access+launch day...
Also keeping my hopes on the down-low...
1. Getting rid of 32-bit meaning less limits = get our dark flames or capes that flow in the air.
2. MP/TP getting combined mean a huge overhaul of the class
3. Prime show of us becoming warriors of darkness = drk knight = might become OP for once

Hmmmm
TP is really a useless stat now. There was a time back in 2.0 where you had to be careful using too much of it, but now I rarely see below the halfway point on any class as we have so many regen methods.
On DRK, I hope this means they're putting more thought/care into how the class plays. And brings back most of what they turned into cheap imitation role skills.
I agree with you, I think they should just Rework the TP for each classes, but by doing this they got many possibilities :
1) Keeping the actual TP ressources, but add more powerful attack that will use this ressource heavily or for being able to mitigate damage with tank classes.
2) Rework it completely, making an rechargeable ressource specific to each classes through mechanics of Classes, TP become SP (Special Point), where you can unleash some signature skill after using your primary ressource (Chakra for Monk, Blood for DRK, etc...). Those Signature skill could be selected before the fight and can add some costumisation to your character. TP regeneration from Crossrole skill change for something else.
3) Remove TP completely, and don't care about it anymore. (But if so, Warriors will only play with HP and no ressources, as long with the other Melee DPS and Physical Ranged one)
4) Many other possibilities i haven't think about.
But, I could only agree that TP actually is useless and need a rework.
I don't think there's anything OP about swapping to a class to take down Kuribu and the 2nd boss of TLCoAmdapoor (Hard) and striking a CGI poster-child pose. There is every possibility that any visits to this forum after the expansion is out will still contain the predicted amount of downtrodden disappointment as it usually does.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love for the game to achieve that non-existent perfect-balance that would keep everyone happy, if not for all classes then at least for most (or even a few), but do yourself a favour and try not to get overly excited until you see it for yourself.
If anything this expansion is a good enough reason as any for me to start playing Dark Knight more.
Rise Brothers and sisters and embrace the darkness join our cult
It's also time to reconnect with our Dark Knight brother Sidurgu...
The DRK Hype
If one tanking job should wonder about how the mp/to change will affect them,it's the war.
DrK will probably go through some rework, especially the DA spam and the lack of synergy between our skill in single target. But DRK already has a heavy focus on mp usage so I don't see how the merge would change that.
Unless they add some sort of new mechanic to all tank.
Pld also use mp, but it's more akin to a burst gauge than anything else. War on the other hand.... I guess they could do anything. Or nothing
I remember when it was MNKs time to shine in Stormblood....oh wait.
Memory is hazy but I seem to recall MNK getting a few basic things that (at the time) were treated more like "it's about time - but still not enough" rather than "OMG THIS IS POSTER-BOY LEVELS OF PWNAGE", so no, I stick to my original post - never assume anything. See for yourself. As a WHM main (a class that has had many woes for the last two expansions), if Mister Hyur posterboy turned into a White-Mage at the end of the trailer, it indicates nothing. Dark Knight was literally the only viable face to have for an expansion with that theme-name. The clue is in the title - "Dark". That's it.
Now, I could be wrong - for all you know they could revamp the entire thing on the sly and make it the bee's knees. My point isn't that it could/could not happen - I'm just cringing at the amount of people seemingly getting their hopes up purely because of the last 2 seconds of the trailer as if it's an indication of any actual class changes.
Ya know, it's okay for people to enjoy something.
I assume DRK is getting a heavy revamp either way, poster boy or not.
I can't see them making TP based abilities free in 5.0, I reckon abilities that currently use TP will use the new combined resource, as DRK (and PLD and BRD) currently use both MP & TP some things will have to change.

"I feel ya"
They can do whatever they want as long as the changes doesn’t get DRK shelved aside in favour for the other tanks (like what I’ve been seeing a pattern for almost all the poster jobs in their respective expansions...)
