So evidently i have a memory leak, as the game keeps trying to use up all my moemory, is there ayway to fix this?

Where did you get the idea that it's a memory leak? What have you tried so far in order to resolve the issue?

I testedit and kept my task manager opened as i launched the game and after got on the other before i evne logged into my character, it was pushing past 1400 mb usage of memory
I can confirm that the issue is a Memory Leak as well because when it's struck me (twice so far) the game has crashed or locked up my PC when FFXIV hit about 11 gigs of RAM Usage. For compairson sake the game usually uses about 600-800 megs of RAM.

Veraki, I noticed you only put part of the system report in your reply. Could you provide the entire system report? Also, what have you tried to solve the problem?
If you have not tried it yet, Veraki could you try a clean boot on your computer? You also mentioned that you had the task manager up, could you also provide a screen shot of the task manager.

A screenshot of the Task manager isn't really possible since when the memory leak strikes it either locks up the computer till FFXIV crashes, at which point it is no longer on the Task Manager, of the PC locks up entirely and no screenshot can be taken in either instance. I can tell you for me that it is not a consistent issue, for example I am playing the game right now just fine, running at about 800 megs of memory usage. Yesterday however I did have a leak that resulted in a crash, as I did the night before. The cause seems intermittent, but it started after update 4.45.
I've dual monitors, and the task manager is almost always up on the second monitor, but by the time I notice an issue, since I'm playing the game, the PC's already locked up and it's impossible to get the screencap at that point. If it happens again I'll try and take a picture of it but that's about the best I can do.

Had this happen upon a restart of the game, didn't let it get as far as it normally does but it shows it using significantly more RAM than it normally will.

Edit: After this, the game has started to 'leak' every single launch since. As this will inevitably be the suggested advice of the Support, I am reinstalling the game to see if that fixes it, if it does not, we'll have that information available.
Edit 2: A complete re-install did not fix the issue. Whatever it is, seems to be part of the 4.45 update, but it's not consistent with all users. That said, while corilation doesn't equal causation, I, Veraki, and another individual on Reddit with the same issue, have something in common. AMD Processors and GTX graphics cards. My guess, something in the most recent update may not be playing well with either the processors, putting load on the RAM instead for some ungodly reason, or the combination. Me and Veraki for example both have FX-8000 series processors. An 8320 for him and an 8120 for me. Veraki could you tell us who makes your RAM and Motherboard? That may also be related. Mine's Corsair and Gigabyte respectively.

I tried to replicate this and wasn't able to get the game above 2GB of RAM usage. Where were you in the game when you took this screenshot? How long did it take to get this high? Was it immediate?
Can you also provide a System Report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.' The system report won't give details on the RAM so can you also provide what kind of RAM you have?
Additionally, can you link that Reddit thread? We can't moderate Reddit obviously, but I'd like to gather some more information on the issue.
@Veraki, if you can provide that screenshot, that will help us figure out what is going on. Additionally, I'd like you to try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. Also avoid having any necessary programs open while you play. At the very least, this will help keep other applications from using RAM while you play.

The memory leak happens immediately upon launch, before even getting to the title screen. Normally the game doesn't eat more than 800-900 megs of ram, but when the leak happens its at 2 before even getting to the title screen. I'll get you the system information once I close the game, not looking to do that right now as it's currently running fine. Reddit thread is here https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ry_leak_issue/ though this user seems to not be having the issue anymore (or hasn't posted about it after a reinstall). This last leak seemed to happen after a crash (DX11 related by the error page) and didn't stop until I restarted the computer, making it seem like whatever caused the crash was persisting through relaunching the game and a full system restart was needed. But this issue is only affecting FFXIV any other game or program I launch doesn't have this issue.

I'm thinking the issue may stem from it trying to read/write to the Hard Drive but an error is causing it to do it to the RAM instead.

LordAlastor, when you reinstalled the game, did you delete the locally saved data (located here My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV)? This part is not deleted when you reinstall the game.

No I did not, I did not know the system files were not removed when the game was uninstalled.

minimal CPU and RAM consumption. From my observations, and my knowledge of computer systems I'm thinking its a read/write error where the game is attempting to write to the HDD, and instead writes to RAM, likely because the HDD has as lower write speed as it's not an SSD.
I just wanted to hop on here to say that I'm also having this same issue, and for me it also seems to have coincided with this most recent patch as it never happened before then. The symptoms are the same as what OP described. The game will suddenly freeze and then nothing on the PC is responsive. I can move the mouse around but all keyboard input is locked up and clicking on anything doesn't work. For me, this is usually after the game has been running for several hours, and has always occurred when I have started to cast something. The only thing I can do is forcefully shut the computer down by holding the power button and then it works fine again for the rest of the day.
This issue is also happening with our game, since the Nov 6th patch. The entire computer locks up and must be restarted. On one of the incidents, we got task manager open in time to see FFXIV was eating 12gb of memory and climbing! We've gone over every bit of our pc and all programs, it is only FF that does this, with or without other programs running at the time, and very often.

There are a couple things I'd like you to try. First, try running the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Right click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7. Second, I'd like you to try running the game in DirectX 9 mode. Do either of these make any difference?

An update, the game has, as of yet, not suffered a memory leak in several days, nothing on my end changed so not sure what caused it to start/stop unless a quiet hotfix was issued.
