I'd Really Like To See More With Custom Deliveries

When the Custom Delivery feature was first revealed I was really excited to see the new content. The way Yoshi spoke of it made it sound like it would be something similar to Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon(long-time favorites) friendly relationships. But what we got, wasn't that... It makes me sad to see how low quality the Custom Delivery content is. In fact, it's barely even content. I just wanted to vent about the things I don't like, I know... but I also wanted to talk about what I'd like to see added to the content to make it more of an actual thing.


I want to see more NPCs:
When Yoshi spoke about the Custom Delivery client Zhloe, he said that she wouldn't be the only client and that we would have "a lot more clients in the future". Well, it's almost 2019, 4.45 next week and we have only gotten 2 more clients(who are also very similar and bland but that's set for another section). What gives? What happened to all the clients? I know it's probably wishful thinking but I think it would be awesome if we could get at least 2 per patch. For reasons below.

Please, broaden Custom Delivery outside of Crafting and Gathering:
Custom Delivery client are restricted to just DoH/DoH scrips. Crafting and each client has been exactly the same process each and every time. Just take 5-10min and craft some things, funnel some scrips and leave. Why not try something new? What about clients that focus on:

- DoW/DoM Tomestones: Asks you to retrieve items from certain duties. Items that drop from enemies, chests maybe even just little things placed in the duty? Like how Maidens of Death randomly appear

- DoW/DoM EXP: Asks you do things in open world to get certain items of interest from killing enemies, FATEs, Leves, leveling dungeons, maps. It could be literally anything

- GC Seals: Do tasks and deliver items to a GC stocks officer or something I'm sure GCs are constantly in need of supplies. Weapons, armor, food, materials.

- Wolf Marks: Deliver items to a Wolves' Den NPC rewarded after winning certain PvP modes or maybe items found around the maps of Frontline/Rival Wings and identified after the match is over(so people can't just get the item and leave)

- Allied/Centurio Seals: More daily targets to kill is always good with me! Make us need to kill certain beasts to try and receive fangs, claws, pelts, anything a collector might want.

- MGP: Win items, participate in a certain mini-game, or maybe find items some jerk kid hid somewhere in the Gold Saucer.

- Raw Mats: This one is simple. Maybe the client wants 20 Iron Ingots and will give you 20 spindles of Rainbow Thread if you give it. A good way to get mats via crafting.

All ideas off the top of my head that could easily be for Delivery clients.

Make the content more interactive:
As it stands right now, Custom Deliveries are nothing more than a currency faucet you turn on every week to get some things then forget. I would like to be able to do different tasks. It would also be good if some clients could be daily so all clients aren't shared between 12 deliveries.

I want the clients to actually mean something rather than something you try to skip as fast as possible because what they say has no worth. Maybe they could make it where when you reach max relationship points with them, they could do you favors? For once? They always go on about "I don't know how to repay you!!"

Please make the stories and progress longer:
I was very disappointed when I finished Zhloe a couple years ago and realized that the story ended after 4 hearts. The story is so ridiculously short for Custom Deliveries... You get a cutscene every week after 3-4 weeks then it's over. No further development. Could we at least get 8 weeks? I want to go further with Zhloe and M'naago for example.

Add more variety!
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually miss Zhloe. I used to HATE her. But after finishing M'naago and Kurenai, I miss her. Zhloe actually has a character, a personality. Her story was light-hearted and ridiculous. M'naago and Kurenai are super flat and bland. Total "for the good" goodie-two-shoes. I don't know... They are just so bland and uninteresting. I would love to see more varied characters with personality.

Lastly, and this is personal... Where are the male clients!? Don't be all scared SE!!

The really important question is when can I dress M'naago in a bikini?

If they do something like this then I hope I get to dress Vorsaile Heuloix in a bikini. (Because Elezen and also as revenge for his low droprate in Triple Triad)

j/k but we do need some cute male clients to dress up. So far it's just two catgirls and little miss Under The Sea lizard lady :(

+1 on the husbando dress-up games. It likely won't be any big-shot NPC but I certainly would like to see more of them.
If they don't want to do proper Brume reconstruction, custom deliveries can certainly be a way to tackle it.
More Ala Mhigan NPCs.
NPCs in Gridania and Ul'dah to help with the refugees' needs.
NPC in Limsa to help with the farming efforts, to help pirates settle in-land.
Mor Dhona and Idyllshire are self explanatory.
Can add one to the Confederacy in the Ruby Sea.
Ananta, Kojin and Namazu NPCs. They all have lore bases that can make it work.
Qiqirn.
Namai and/or the House of the Fierce. We built the Enclave, what about the rest of Doma?

I could have sworn that, when Custom Deliveries was announced, SE said there would be multiple NPCs to choose from at the same time, and that cool rewards would be offered as we ranked up, in a way more similar to WT (but for crafters and gatherers).

What we got was a trickled-through number of NPCs whom we max out with long before the next is introduced, easy-ish scrips per week (not a complaint on this point), one-time reward options per rank-up that are more like quest rewards than choosing according to a completed log each week, and the only variety really being us asking which two NPCs offer more this time right after reset.

So, you know, it is what it is, like so much else in this game. *shrugs*

So I'm not the only one who remembers seeing that said. It's a real shame that CDs came out this way..

Right now, the only "reward" you get from Custom Deliveries is playing dress-up with the various Waifus. :\

I didn't think about it as intricately as the OP. I was just wanting Custom Delivery NPCs added to all city states in the game. There's always allowances if they want to limit how many we can do.

I just want a male character that isn't a c@boi or a potato to glamour in the most lewd of glams.

the boatload of free scrip every week is more than enough reward for me to do it every reset

Oh here's an idea, increase the number of hearts to 10 and get to unlock Kurenai, M'naago or Zhloe Aliapoh as a special free retainer with their personalities intact. At the very least they'd be a very valuable asset to the player and wouldn't have to travel so far to play dress up with them.

I never got into the whole waifu dress-up thing. Kurenai's thinly veiled reason for wanting you to (un)dress her was creepy, even the lala was looking at her like "wtf?". Then Zhloe they didn't even bother with a reason, she's just automatically fine with it out of the blue if you pull swimwear out of your pocket and tell her to try it on. Whatever floats peoples boats tho.

I do agree on more hearts for max rank and more story. Also a battle version of Custom Deliveries for tomes or such would be great too instead of Khloe's rng for outdated rewards, but maybe put those on seperate NPC's and on a seperate allowance. Right now crafters scrips are just too useful to pass on for me.

I just gave them something more casual to wear out of boredom. Just seems weird to give them skimpy outfits out of nowhere.

I agree with your points too. Would have been nice to have many different NPCs for different classes with different tasks and no weekly restriction on top of that. (Or maybe just a restriction like "three tasks per week with each single character) Because thanks to their restriction, one NPC will always never get something and this will only get worse later.

So I really hope that they will change that system later otherwise its truly just a one time per week for x minutes deal.

(I have the same problem with the rebuilding of the doman enclave too. The concept sounds great, but the end product in the game is kinda boring, since you only go there and give them some leftovers..)

This is exactly how I feel about the whole glamour thing. I was completely okay with Kurenai because she had a specific reason to want to wear clothes from outside. That was her special feature. That was what made her unique. But then the devs come and make the dress-up feature for Zhloe now too and it's like... I know Zhloe's a bit of a weirdo and all but there was never anything to suggest she'd allow someone to clothe her(or unclothe her, lets be honest that's the most likely). What reason does she have to let you do that? Why does she let you do that?

I hate this because it makes the delivery NPCs seem much more like blank slate that are all the same rather than characters with unique personalities. You're right Alleo. They're just Squadron members now. Especially since there's no limit to what they will be okay with wearing. That's the important part right there. Since they don't have feelings or personalities at all, they can't not be okay with any and everything. That destroys any interest in the character.

It's going to be really silly seeing M'naago with the feature next. .
