So once again SE are having long term problems with their EU servers. I understand that keeping a massive MMO afloat is no easy task, but considering the money they rake in from subs and sales on Mog Station, one would think they have the resources to make it happen.
And the conflicting stories about what's going on isn't exactly boosting confidence in SE either. DDos attacks, 3rd party server instabilities, faulty code... etc.
Enough with the excuses already. Take responsibility for your own game services. Fix it. Please.
I can't be the only one that feels like SE just don't pay enough attention to their EU customers. If you want our hard earned money SE, then you have to show us that you can deliver what we pay for. If not there's other MMOs out there that can. Simple.

There is no server instability that I have seen.
There are problems with the network connections to the servers, mainly due to ongoing DDoS attacks, but that isn't something SE can fix. -

I'm near re-sub date and honestly...I'm thinking about not to resub at the moment.
It's a pity have an active sub and can't play for this long long term issues :s

I have seen this message over and over of Implementing Countermesaures...........it looks there are some incompentent group of people from SE Network Team and NTT ISP who doesn't know a sh..... of how to countermeasure the DDoS attacks.
What SE is going to do for players who are in Eureaka/Pagos and doing NM Fate and die? A level lost?
What is SE Going to do to crafters that maybe lost Gils, mats, crafting because of Disconnects?
Everything is we are sorry for the inconvenience, not even a damn reduction on the next monthly fee at least for all the issues been caused. Like reading in other post and on this one too, I am thinking of re sub because not seeing a responsible, statement by SE of what they are going to do to solve this. -

Entire Eureka instances, myself included, just lost exp--and likely elemental levels--because of this. At the very least, I would think that lost exp should be returned to us given that this wasn't something under our control, though I don't honestly expect it.

Got DC'ed just now. Cannot even log into data center. Gives a lobby server connection error.
As for the posts implying that it should be simple to fix a DDoS attack issue.
In a DDoS attack, the incoming traffic flooding the victim originates from many different sources – potentially hundreds of thousands or more. This effectively makes it impossible to stop the attack simply by blocking a single IP address; plus, it is very difficult to distinguish legitimate user traffic from attack traffic when spread across so many points of origin. Quite different from a DoS attack that typically is executed by 1 source and is easily resolved by blocking that source.
If you want to be mad as someone direct it at the one causing the issue in the first place. -

I know your comment is for people implying that DDoS is an easy attack to fix which I agree. However, SE should provide what is called in every business around the world, customer support first. Is like going into a fast food, ordering a burger and the person in front hand you the burger without the buns, and other things you expect on a burger, and when you ask why is that, they just charged you for the whole thing and the excuse is "We are sorry but we didn't get burger buns on time but eat it anyway" - They should at least offer you a second option, discount or refund the money.
We are expecting here some kind of customer service, People who lost a Level in Pagos/Eureka, Mats and gils for crafters, people doing HoH or POTD lost progress, what is SE going to offer to us?
Nothing as far I see it............... this is not a free game and we are Paying for a service. Once again, I agree this is not an easy fix and I am going to take their "word" that they are "working" with the situation but it doesn't look they are reaching a way of making these attacks less. Things Happens, I agree but having this a lot lately is not funny anymore. -

Currently, there are DDoS attacks taking place on a heretofore unseen scale upon all NA, EU, and JP FFXIV data centres, purposely timed for each region's peak usage hours.
There was a massive disconnection event earlier in NA due to this, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused to our players.
The development and infrastructure teams are working together with the upstream Internet Service Providers of each data center to deploy defensive measures. With help from the providers, we are working around the clock to combat the attacks, and to prevent the occurrence of any full-service shutdown.
While deploying these countermeasures, there is a chance that some players will experience lag or unstable connections due to rerouting of connections. We are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.

I do not understand much about DDoS attacks, but if SE blocked free accounts and suspended this trial service for a while, would not they stop those attacks? Is it not necessary to have an active account to log in to the server? -
10-27-2018, 01:42 AMRogueDKI certainly don't understand everything about DDos attacks either, but I'm pretty sure they don't actually need to log in to the servers to do the attack. It's more like they are "calling" on the server to connect to it. I think they call it a "handshake". If enough ppl do that then the server will be too busy to "shake hands" to manage what it's there for in the first place: sending out data to whoever is legitimately communicating with it when they are playing the game.Quote:

You can't filter out the bogus packets without looking at them - and at that point most of the damage is already done.
