I’ve been playing and enjoying other classes for years, but I just recently leveled my character to 60 on scholar class. I was interested in scholar because of:I was surprised and fascinated by the scholar storyline, especially when I learned that “Tonberries are the old citizens of the Nymian civilization, destroyed by a mysterious disease called the ‘Green Death’ or ‘Sickness from the Sea’ that turned most of its population into the creatures” (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tonberry).
- Their clever weapons (books),
- Their excellent hats (mortarboard at Level 50, steampunk tophat at Level 60), and
- Their quick queues into dungeons (as healers).
The scholar quest-giver, Surito Carito, was worried that I might have caught the disease, so he asked me whether my ears or nose had started symptoms of rotting and falling off. When I realized that we’re the “before and after” of the disease, I was inspired to make a tonberry "ogre pumpkin" this year! :)

"To The Races!" is a carved Acorn squash (the local market was out of pumpkins) inspired by Chocobo racing!
The top-like shape really spoke to me and I imagined spinning it to display a design in motion.
