DX11 error in new areas

My game crashes with that DX11 error with a few of the newer areas (The whole quest line for deltascape, MSQ 4.1 onwards, this list will probably grow)

I've tried everything that has been listed in other thread for windows 10 system. (including clean boot, clean reinstall, switch to dx9, clean install without steam, etc).
Currently playing on my Alt character and running find through all the older maps so I think its just the new stuff that causing my issue.

Edit: My main character is locked in a DX11 error crash cycle, every time i try to log into him (currently in a MSQ cutscene, i forgot what it is called where empire come and have peace talks?), DX11 error crash.

When did this first start happening for you? When you started the 4.1 MSQ?

You said that your character is "locked in a DX11 error crash cycle." Does this occur when you first log into that character, or can you get into gameplay? Can you log into other characters?

What have you tried so far in order to resolve the issue?

First time this happened recently was with the first cut scene for the Deltascape quest line then during deltascape duty finder.

Every time i log into the character the error crash happens during the load screen time, I'm assuming that this is due to the area my character is in is similar to the deltascape area.
I'm able to play my secondary character with no issue doing MSQ as well as traveling through all the zones (up to 4.0).

Updating all my graphic drivers, switching to DX9, Uninstalling and doing a clean install, tried doing a clean install without Steam, setting all graphic setting to the lowest, changing the NVIDIA graphic setting for the games.

The only way i got out of the last DX11 crash cycle was to log onto a friend PC and move my character to a area that i know works.

There was another suggestion that it maybe window 10 issue and i should try a different OS which i cant do.

If you had no issues on your friend's PC, than it may be something specific to your own PC. When you reinstalled the game, did you delete the locally saved content? This data should be located here (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). This isn't deleted if you reinstall the game so if there is a corrupted file, a reinstall won't get rid of it.

I thought these files were for UI settings? if i delete these will i lose all my UI setting?

There are files in there that do indeed take care of macros, hotkeys, etc. If you don't back up that folder you'll have to set everything back up. A tiny detail the support seems to have failed to mention. Especially since the ability to upload these settings in game to the servers isn't actually in the game yet.

I've tried deleting those file and doing a clean install, i still in a DX11 error cycle.

You mentioned that this only happened once you got to the 4.1 MSQ, correct? It should be mentioned that your graphics card doesn't hit the minimum requirements for Stormblood (however, it does for the base game, this could explain why you don't have any issues in earlier areas of the game). have you had any issues in areas outside of Stormblood content? What kind of GPU does your friend have, on the PC that you were able to log in with?

Try lowering some of the graphical settings (even if you didn't have an issue with it before). Also try running the game in windows or borderless mode instead of fullscreen. Does this have any affect on the issue?

You may also want to go into the Nvidia Control Panel and select 'Manage 3D settings'. From here, select 'Program Settings' and then Final Fantasy XIV. You should be able to select which graphics card you want to run the game. Select the GTX 940M (it's usually set to Auto by default). Then in the Power Management Options, make sure it's set to 'Prefer High Performance'.

As far as i remember no, i did get a similar DX11 error in Heavensward but that was due bad driver update.

Unfortunately i have tried these as well with no luck in getting pass the error wall.

Is there anything else i could possible try before giving up on Stormblood for the time being?

Unfortunately, If the graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements, there is no guarantee that it will work properly. It can in some situations, it sounds like you were able to do some of the 4.0 MSQ for instance, but the newer patches look like they need a bit more than what your current GPU can offer.

Unfortunately, the only way you can move the character would be to log in and move it. It sounds like you may need to log in on your friend's PC again.
