I would like to suggest that /shout be changed in the following ways:
-Shouting in Upper Limsa also is heard in Lower Limsa.
-Shouting in New Gridania also is heard in Old Gridania
-Shouting in Ul’dah steps of Thal is also heard in steps of Nald
-Shouting in one housing ward is heard in all housing wards.
-Shouting in Foundation is heard in The Pillars

I'd be down with it I think, my only (small) complaint is that sometimes it is nice being able to "escape" to one of the quieter zones when you don't want to deal with the shout chat.
I know this wasn't your suggestion, but I definitely do not want all cities to be connected like they are in XI. With XI, it was more of a necessity at it's current stage of life. I can only imagine the horrors if they did the same to XIV - All of Balmung would be subject to the horrors that is known as Ul'dah shout spam. -

Honestly I would just like them to connect both zones of all the major cities. (connect the zones so there is no zone line is what i mean.)
PS3 is gone, so no longer an issue.
But that’s a much bigger ask than just connecting the zones via /sh communications. Thus the thread. -

Again. Most people are not active at these times. Seeing a shout helps get them going. And it’s not “shout spam from other zones.”
It’s Limsa shouts in both Limsa zones.

In other words, there is a fix to the “shout spam” you two are complaining about but not utilizing the features already in the game to cater to your personal needs and wants.
I already have the knowledge of LS/FC’s but seeing as I play at odd times they aren’t as active as the entire playerbase and a simple shout has always helped fill the party. And just combining the zones would only benefit people who use shout to find parties which is a small playerbase yes, but again, implementing it would hinder no one at all.

Yes finding a balance between people wanting to use shout and having more people see it, vs people not wanting to see it is a tough compromise. But as i said, and as was stated by others, my suggestion is just the main cities connected to themselves, and the housing zones, i feel is a better compromise. thus the thread.
Having all cities connected would be bad, is not my request. (again, as already stated.) -

(Which is using the filter and tab system, which is exactly what i do, because i do get 3 days off a week for work and do play sometimes during peak hours so i have seen spam and simply adjusted my chat log to my personal preference.) As much as it would be nice to merge the city maps, it’s not as simple as just sticking them together.
Ul’dah fits together neatly of course, and Gridania is close, but Limsa would need some additional areas built. (eg. the path from the aetheryte plaza that takes you directly up to the Bismarck, but in ‘real space’ there’s a long ramp that you don’t have to manually cross, you just warp to the other end as you move across zones.
And then there’s Ishgard with its separate music tracks for the two areas.
Another consideration would be how quickly the zone loads. Warping to Limsa can be quite slow for me, at peak times where there are lots of people at the Lower Decks. Having the other map (and all the people on it) as well would make it worse. -

Absolutely not. There is so much trolling in Uldah on my server. Let the crafters, and loners go somewhere quiet.
Plus this opens its way up to RMT. Don’t think they’re gone still. They have ways to cling the level, and content train, and would love to exploit it through shouts given the chance. -

I'm up for city wide chat. If I don't like what I'm seeing on my shout tab, I have at my disposal a million and one ways to filter it out. I just don't see the point of having one half of a city seperated in this manner when the city itself isn't really.
