Guess future jobs, as well as their origins

This is a game. We’re going to guess future jobs, and possible origins that they might have. We will come back, and take a look in the future of FFXIV to see who got what right. Good luck! :p

I’ll start first.

Dancer:

I believe that this class will be tied to Thavnair in some way. Dancer could very easily have far eastern lore, especially due to the Thavnairian dance emote.

Blue Mage: I believe it could be one of two places. Either Sharlayan, or Thavnair. On one hand, Sharlayan studies magic, and they likely have unique jobs up their sleeve. On the other, I think the classic appearance of the Blue Mage fits Thavnair the best.

Geomancer: I believe this job would be rooted in Bukyo, which is a city state most players have no idea about. It’s in Hingashi’s mainland, and functions as the capital. Hingashi is a country with room for another expansion to explore into.

Oracle: I believe that this class would come from either Bukyo, or Sharlayan. It depends on what aesthetic they decide to go with.

Gunner: I believe that Gunner would obviously be Garlemald. There’s no other place it would make sense to be tied to.

Green Mage: Probably will never happen, but if it did, it would be tied to Dalmasca.

Beast Master: A very loose guess, but I suspect aerslaunt, or however it is spelled. A Viking like setting would be great for a job that wields bows, and has a beast companion.

Rune Knight/Spellblade type: Definitely Sharlayan, or Thavnair in my book. It just makes sense.

Time Mage: Yoshi P said somewhere that Time Mage is still possible along side Astrologian. I believe it would easily be tied to Sharlayan.

I think one of the incoming will be a Magitek Knigth tank job with a Gunblade, with Garlean theme. Something like the Legatus. Could be also a Gunhammer (like Nero) or Gunspear (like Nael).

Dancer probably will have Thavnairian theme. Could be melee DPS or healer perfectly, as there are already a lot of glamour that resembles like eastern dancers.

Blue Mage is very complex to implement in the traditional way. But could be also a mid-eastern theme with the use of Scimitar. Maybe Persian themed. Mainly i'd say DPS.

Geomancer has been already hinted in Astrologian job quest and Swallow Compass. It is obviously eastern themed too, origins in Hingashi. But they resemblance to a Conjurer makes difficult to differ from it.

Gunslinguer with two guns can be from Garleand, but now Ishgard has the machinist technology, could be tied to this ones too.

I honestly never thought about Ishgard having to do with a gunblade. I could see the job quest being related to Machinist in some form.

I would like to make Time Mage a tank mage for the first time. It would use time and space magic to create magic barriers and shields, slow/stop/heavy/pull/push enemies and mitigate damage as well as undo damage taken.

But that would mean a tank that doesn't use tank gear and FFXIV is too ingrained in having all jobs of a certain role using the same gear even if it makes no sense.

That sounds bizarre in a way that would actually work. I like your idea, but this isn’t about the roles. This is about the city states/lore origins you speculate on for each possible job.

Yea, cause everyone loves chasing after mobs you push around. And 'reversing time to undo damage' is a heal. Get some friends together, go in to a dungeon synced, tank on your healer with Fluid Aura. Boom. Your time mage tank. Enjoy.

I suppose it would be too much to ask to not get new jobs next expansion? I think it is, sadly, we've had new jobs every one so far...

Gunblade tank plz???
I think maybe we will get dancer as a dps, maybe healer.
blue mage should definitely be a dps? OR maybe they could make them a mage tank, who knows?

A time mage certainly would be related to the Sharlayans. AST have some spells related to time and space and Sevestre from the AST job quest is said to be able to stop time so time magic would be a branch of Sharlayan magic. Probably spells they keep secret from the public monopolizing the knowledge. A quest giver could be another scholar who ran away from Sharlayan due to divergent views from the faction in power.

Yes, tanks already can pull mobs and heal, this one would just do it in a different way (like aoe pull for example). If you are going that route 2/3 of the jobs in the game are unnecessary since you can do something similar with another job that doesn't perform its role.

Some of these job suggestions such as geomancer and time mage are already in the game I feel. For example - Astro pretty much feels like a time mage to me (just under a different name). Same thing with conjurer and geomancer. While it's possible to get these jobs; I wouldn't bank on these two.

I would like to see blue mage.

What I really want (as a tank main) is more tank classes. Maybe a magic based tank or something. I love leveling tank classes.

I disagree specially since FF tactics had all these jobs and more. Going on the FFT jobs we have chemist. Since we already have the DoH job alchemist we would need a new name like battle chemist that would be a non-magic healer. Lorewise one can claim that the battle alchemist adjust formulas for the individual and battle conditions so they can avoid the limitations of normal potions also that they use mixes that need to be used immediately when made since their effectiveness decay rapidly when stored.

About geomancer it could be an alternative branch from conjurer like how SMN and SCH are branches from ACN.

Corsair, from Limsa Lominsa (give Limsa a job that comes from them! Of the fifteen jobs, Limsa is the only one that hasn't developed their own Soul Crystal, every other modern Eorzean City-State has a least one known one. Ala Mhigo has two if you count Red Mage as it comes from the region, but was probably developed before Ala Mhigo was founded, and Ishgard has three)

A lot of you are missing the point of the post. Did you even read it?

It’s not for job suggestions. It’s for speculation on which jobs are coming, and the LORE origins that they will be tied to.

Let’s use Red Mage as an example since it is out. You would suggest Red Mage, and then put where you think it will come from. If you guessed Gyr Albania, and the surviving mages from the War of the Magi, then you would of been correct.

You can type a job you would like, but say where you think it could be tied to. If that job gets released, then we will go back, and look at who was close, or right all along. :)
