... which characters are you looking forward to playing as the most?

Personally I'd love a sequence where we play as Raubahn, especially in a flashback with dual wielding.

And if it's not limited to combat scenarios I think a more fleshed out stealth sequence as Thancred would be really cool as well.

Maybe a Zenos one? Would be cool to be a hulking badass, show a bit form the villains side!

This would be a cool way to tease a new job. In the final version, I hope they either let us play as Gaius or Alphinaud (in BLU form since its so likely he would be the Scion's BLU akin to his sister being RDM). They can give us 4 abilities to play with, it won't matter if they're unfinished since it's just a tease.

Don't care as much about whom as how.

While the plot of the RP segments was fun, it kind of felt like we were having good character lambasted as complete novices. There are plenty of ways to keep combat within a range where one need barely read the names of their abilities while still receiving a sense of their actual skill.

On topic though: whichever character will give me something new, gameplay-wise, that's still within the XIV team's capabilities (so, probably not a Thancred espionage mission, sadly...).

It's an interesting feature and I'd hate to see it limited to the Scions.

I remember SWTOR introduced a similar mechanic during KOTET and created some really fun scenarios. The first instance was an entire multi-level dungeon where we got to play as HK, and I think one of my favourite things in that game was another mission where the player got to pilot a GIANT overpowered mech that was pretty much a reverse raid boss fight XD Swatting down masses of mobs felt sooooo satisfying. Even the character says something along the lines of "it's time for payback" when she enters the cockpit and it's exactly how it felt to me!

And I think it would work in FF14 too! They could even make it more fun by making us play a boss and then pitting us against it. Like imagine a scenario where first we get a solo duty that's structured like a boss fight from the boss's perspective, complete with gaining new abilities and controlling the environment as we progress through phases, giving us a taste of the mechanics and patterns, how they look, when they start appearing... and then put us on the receiving end of it in a Trial where we have to figure out how to beat that!

Also, the 'you play as a boss' thing was done in Demon Souls. Sit in the level, and sometimes you got summoned to inhabit the boss to kick someone's ass. If I recall though, your character's own abilities carried over, and you didn't get the bosses...which was fine, cause the bosses only ability was homing soul mass.

Still...I don't think it would work here...don't really see people wanting to inhabit a boss that is going to get it's ass kicked 95% of the time, save for casual players.
