Pagos light farming..let's compare notes

I posted this in the angry letter Thread and decided to start a thread on this. Currently conducting research being Yoshi is not being to clear on proper way to farm light -.-/. Just like many players I love this game, however it has become a let down in Pagos.


NOTE This is just based on testing several factors and experiences may vary as well. So before you start slamming the post with negativity pls consider this is just a perspective and I'm sharing information that my group and I have been testing.


In regards to Pagos light farming.

A few friends of mine and I have been testing lights and while most have been similar to what everyone else has experience we have come to few conclusions of our own.

We have tried these things so far and seems we have gotten some results so not sure if these may help other people in their research.

First; Myth about Dragon farming;

So far most groups do this and lights have varied based on three factors that we can identify. When they adapt and grow seems we get more light, the twist is that they seem to give more light if the weather matches their weakness and attribute.

Second; some of them are were using their Pagos Elemental weapon and seem to accumulate somewhat more light at a faster rate. Not sure how accurate it happening, we all started with zero bars and by the time we ended at 9 some were still at 7 bars. Maybe it's a a coincidence similar to coffer farming. Some get more than others, not sure.

Third; Mutations are somewhat efficient for chest drops yet give way less light and have from our perspective the worst rate.

Forth; Elemental sprites seem to give a better rate for light amounts than long battle mobs and to an extend are easier to kill.

Fifth; Fates give a nice chunk of light, yet the rate they spawn within windows does vary and seems that when people are clearing bunnies spawn faster than instances that don't.

Level difference If your not getting xp seems lights are extremely low if any.

Amount of party members Just like XP is better killing single mobs as a solo or duo it seems lights are affected to some extended based on level differences. Taking into account previous experiments seems like it gives slightly better light results at a lower speed rate specially with Elemental sprites. Been doing max as trio seems somewhat decent for killing mobs for both lights and mutations.

Feeble light definition....we all know it's inconsistent based on amounts. We have also noticed those floating crystals seems to sometimes give different shades of brightness on occasions just a guess maybe it effects things as well?

I'm not actively farming light but there does appear to be something to the 10/20/30 chain thing. I didn't see that mentioned. I was in a Cassie farm group getting xp and chain for the mobs and I boosted to gentle(?) on the 10 chain. I was busy and didn't see what 20 and 30 were.

Having the chains seems to increase chance of Coffer drops on certain mobs yes, light wise I've only really seen an increase on certain mobs. Example With Cassie mobs, they don't really give lights as often and when they do it's somewhat decent. I've seen this to be more effective on Blizzard weather still the RNG is low even with high chain rate. If that were the Case Griffons seem to have a much better rate than Malboros and even Anubis seem to have a much better mutation rate and slightly better light ratio than Malboros. I've gotten some Gentle lights and really seems not much of a difference until you reach chain 20-30. Thx for that I will have our group test more later today chain wise and see if we can come across any differences. We would chain elemental sprites, problem is we run out of time do to rate they pop and distance :/.

I tried with a friend, his idea was killing the flowers at the forge and kill the dragon on every 10th step, he actually got bright light from that and it gives more light then just killing dragons.

Can confirm the flower pt is a lot faster than dragons, killing 4 flowers and dragon on the 5s in chain, got a full and a quarter bar in 2 chains (which are fast as squishy as the flowers are).

About half the pt got the same amount of light as myself and the rest only got barely a quarter. So there has to be something else to it. The ones that got light were wearing pagos weapons, both elemental and regular Pagos and +1 Pagos. Anemos weapons and other weapons such as primal got the low lights. Not sure if coincidence or not.

Only got light on the dragons for the most part but the amount of light was incredibly higher than if you are only fighting dragons. It basically came in much larger chunks.

Every time I’ve gathered light in full parties I can usually get 1 bar per 30 Dragons. I hate Pagos so much. It has so much potential but ffs why does everything have double RNG some have triple.

I have never gotten a full bar in 30 dragons full pt or not. I also seem to get more light per hour farming Anubis than I do dragons. Idk what ppl have with dragons but the light they give me is minimal at best compared to other sources when you consider the amount of light per hour. When I was a fresh 35 I joined an Anubis box farm and got so much light I was honestly perplexed why ppl kept saying it took so long.

After the flowers pt above I joined a dragon farm pt just because I wanted to compare and after 90 minutes of constant back and forth with them I still hadn't even gotten a single full bar and that even includes the light from the cow nm that spawned nearby. From my exp When you kill dragons or elementals on the 5s and 10s they seem to give a nice jump in light more often than not while spamming just the dragons themselves give tiny little slivers every now and then.

I'm starting to get the impression the devs designed it deliberately in a way to discourage people from camping a particular spot. So if your grinding the same mob over and over your penalised for it in the form of reduced light gain.

To add to this was prepping Lougi with no other parties. Seems mobs have from 5% to almost 20% of a bar when they give light as long as no other party hits the mopb. By the time we hit 30 chains some of us had almost 2 bars others had 1.5. The ones with completed weapons had 2.5 bars. We compared them after Lougi went down and tested with weather. More light procs were done during blizzard.

I also got some Intel that bunnies seem to help light gathering as long as they are with you during battle. It kind of makes sense in a way on why bunny fates don't give XP or Light. We tried it for the last 30 min we had inside, We did Anubis for last 30 and also got 12 loot boxes in 30 min with bunnies. while others got 8-10. Our top person got 13 boxes.

Still need more testing with bunnies. So probably will try doing all bunny fighting instead of looking for chest. If only the song was not so annoying -.-;

I went from 5 to 8 crystals at dragons this morning, in 80 minutes.

I'm having a similar thought so we decided to mix it up a bit with sprites once they spawned near by to keep chain going, seems alternating mobs helps a bit as long as your able to receive xp from it. Also decided to try it with same element for defense. While our DPS did go a bit a lower we tried it with 37 mobs and took them down about same speed as normal high end 40's. We did get some bright lights as well. Could be a coincidence still need more testing :/

People have been tossing the idea of getting brilliant lights from killing high level elementals on the 10,20 and 30 chains, but as of yet have found a group willing to test the theory. Any progress on that being proven at all?

I've wondered since some get good light from certain mobs while others don't, does our God's elemental affinity we choose at character creation play a part? Similar to the way the elemental wheel works?

Has anyone tested if the potion of harmony has any effect on light gains?

Only applies to XP, tested over 25 times including; weather,mobs, Relic, and normal weapons.

When I go in I have group, if people are a not available we make a post on party finder. We only look for 15 min if not we under man it to what is within our limits. Normally 6 min for 39-40 mobs , 35-37 trio. Along the ways we do Anubis or Dragon shouts and once they sent a tell we explain our procedure and it's up to them if they want to join or not. Problem is most people like to afk or don't want to waste time experimenting. SO we sometimes rather not deal with it and only do it within our group.

It's not hard to start a group just need to set firm rules and be flexible to their Fate needs. Example we only go to Top tier Fates bottom once we just ignore. We get more light and xp just doing what we are doing than traveling to those fates.

So far dragon+top nms with a party finder group have been the best light farm runs for me, get 5-7 bars worth during full runs. Though everytime we have had issues with people trying to steal spots...

Thanks for sharing these points. Tested these two solo for a brief period of 15 mins before the King Anthro spawn groups came in and I made way for them.

I spliced together my screen caps so the relevant information is in one place.

If you killed the dragons near the cow NM that is the wrong dragon and that’s why you were obtaining so little light. The dragons you want are the sleeping frozen void dragon.

I'm curious what the best mob would be to try solo light farming on?

I never found a light method that was consistent and tolerable. Had intended to complete a third weapon before the patch but I quit because having an unlucky streak with little to no light gains feels like a waste of time and a bit sad. Wildly different results between people using the same methods also seems unfair.

I think even if luck is on your side, there is a point when fighting hundreds of enemy chains is no longer tolerable and it would be better if the light given by Fate NMs was increased so people can finish in a more relaxed way.

I preferred light in zodiac/anima with no RNG; you always receive light if you participate in content and it's the same amount for all players. The only 100% light we get in Pagos is from NM but it's too small amount (or mutation enemies, but getting a mutation to occur is not 100%).

I haven't discovered any light-boosting secrets to share but I think fighting morbols is not so bad relative to other methods and it has the bonus of spawning Cassie NM eventually if people are committed to it.

The optimal method for light grinding that I found is to do a combination chain of corpse flowers and the dragon in the crystal forge cave. You basically kill corpse flowers until you get to chain 4, 9, 14, 19, 24, and 29 then kill dragons every 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th chain. This method is just like regular dragon light farming, but it's much faster because the corpse flowers are easier to kill. You mainly will get big chunks of light when you kill the dragon. It's still RNG-based, but I would say it's about 3 crystals an hour. This is how I got my weapon after leveling to 35.

If you get an adapted dragon on chain 30, it will net you a gentle light if the game decides to give you light.

Every time I try the corpse flower method, I get people who can't understand how counting works.
It's an... odd problem to have.

I heard an interesting one the other night, supposedly killing the Yarzons that span near the lower level bunny fate and using the bunny fate to synch down right before kill is a good way to do it solo or duo. I personally haven't tried this yet, but the guy who told it to me had 5 Anemos weapons and he wasn't even level 32 yet..

Question what is the best way to fill your green bar to get the frosted protean crystals for the relic?

I just got level 35 and only had 5 Frosted Protean Crystal done with the green bar, but someone said relics take 31 right? I have 461 Pagos Crystal so I am close to the number needed there.

Not really understanding what I am suppose to do now or how you fill the green bar fast. Takes many NMs for just 1 bar.

NMs aren't the best method for light gain. Chaining is.
