GP regen and fishing issue

I've got a couple frustrations with gathering and just wanted to see how others are handling it. First with mining/botany: why doesn't GP reset on each node the way CP resets with each craft? Cordials are great, but it's still really frustrating working on collectibles and waiting for GP or waiting for the cordials to come off CD.

And for fishing: why is there no action such as Veteran Trade for regular fishing? I absolutely hate fishing for this reason alone. Last night I turned in 6 collectible purple bucklers and wasted 52 midge larva because I kept getting death loaches.

How do you guys handle these little "setbacks"?

Hmm once your maxed on DoL you get a trait to increase GP regeneration, you can also use certain potions for that. When you think about it it does make sense. Crafting takes less effort and energy than running around and hitting stuff -.-/. As for fishing know the times and day that rare fish can bite. Example some are every common and some will only appear under certain conditions such as time, weather, and bait. IF I where you, I would look into those conditions. Once you do it you can get all types of rare fish. Also some fish require the catch to be rare and use that rare fish as bait. Have you even looked into that?

I agree that for fishing at least, GP should either regen faster or ability costs should be cut. When I first learned Patience I barely had enough GP left after to use a single hookset. When cordials are essentially required even for just the basics, something is wrong with the design.

How do i handle fishing setbacks? I dont fish unless i have to. Fishing sucks. I leveled it with like 75% GC turn ins, and i havent equipped FSH to do something in more then 3 months. In fact, the last time i did something as FSH it was for the fashion report. Actual fishing has been ages.

As for GP resetting, its a balance issue. A crafter takes materials, and using CP and time turns them into items. And as for those materials, the crafter either paid for them in gil or with even more time by gathering them personally. And finally, crafting an item is kinda a singular activity(yes, i realize that people mass craft stuff all the time) with a defined beginning middle and end - which means the CP reset after makes more sense. A gatherer turns time directly into materials, using GP to get better or more of them. The gatherer has no expense in doing this(upgrading your gear twice a year doesnt count, neither does repair), and often has few or no limitations on how much they can get(timed nodes being an obvious exception). And gathering is more of an ongoing activity then a singular one - if you go out to get ore are you done when you have enough for a sword for a suit of armor or for a tank? With an auto-reset you would use hq up and yield up on every swing, without it you have to decide when these are worth doing or if chugging potions and waiting is the better approach. This of course complicates things for the gatherer who is specifically doing collectables, as they are more of a singular activity then normal gathering. I personally wait/chat to pass that time, but i also know people whove used an alternate collectables rotation that doesnt start spending GP until theyve gotten a proc from Imp(thus leading to more dud collectables as well - but duds they spend 0 GP on), and cycling the nodes a bit more.

While that does make sense, I think it's a little skewed. I'm level 70 across the board on all crafters and gatherers. I can craft low level hq single mat crafts all day long with nq mats, but I can only gather hq while I have GP to spend. Once that's out I'm stuck gathering nq iron ore as a level 70 miner until I get my GP back, or hope RNG likes me at a 15% cap.

It seems there's a bias toward crafting, making it a little easier to get hq's than with gathering, and I don't quite understand why. I get crafting is more complex than just hitting nodes, but with the GP cost of a lot of the gathering actions, there should be something else in place to help recoup some of that GP a little faster.

This is irrelevant when 800 GPs is casually achieved.

In 3.x GP management fish eyes / patience was HARD. Not nearly as much today.

And FSH GPs regenerate no mater what you are doing unlike MIN and BOT.

gp is a limiter to gathering to stop a massive influx of hq mats, it actually allows more people to take part in the market aswell as there is still a demand for nq mats and so people who are a little undergeared can still compete with better geared gatherers.

as for collectables im sure they mathed it out and the time it takes is factored into the play time and hence how much of a gate it is to getting the new books/gear for gathering.

but really if you think its bad now you musnt of been around for the introduction of scrips and the old red scrip grind for gear. it was rng on top of rng and time gated, also it was weekly cap gated just for a chance at some mats to maybe make an upgrade.

Because then I'd gather 15+ materials per node.

I don't really even consider them setbacks. It's just the way the game works. If you find it that frustrating, consider doing something else with your time.

my issue is the lvl 70 gp regen increase wasnt 5-10 which would make the waiting much better when im going for specific mats, it was 5-6 which is why even bother

I would love for it to have been 5-10, but that was never realistic. They werent going to make the first direct increase be a 100% boost. Going from 5-6 is a 20% boost, much more modest and the sort of increase you can use to scale things for the future. And while it doesnt seem like much, 20% is still a lot. Take a miner with 700 gp. Before doing the level 70 class quest to unlock this ability it would take them 7 mins to regen from nothing to full. After doing the quest its down to about 5 mins 45 seconds. Getting back more then a minute(and possibly lining up better with cordial timers) is something. Combine that with the fix they made awhile back where you can regen GP while on a non-gathering class and things have certainly improved. Hopefully they keep getting better going forward.

Miners / Botanists need a mulching option. Sacrifice an ungathered node with a special effect on it (Like +5% gathering) for GP. Something like 'the value of the node' + 20, so crunching a 4-node is 40 GP, a 5 node is 45, etc.
