Hello affenmensch, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums
Can you elaborate on the kind of issue you are having?
Please provide:
- Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
- the nature of the latency
- Type of connection (wired or wireless)
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue
Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV! Hope to see you online.

thanks for your reply
its just lag, ppl staying for 1sec without moving and then they move instantly around.
in ultimate the feathers from Garuda porting around, or mounting lags
Platform: PC
the nature of the latency: absolut no problems, the big chaos lag in the past, and this now is the only time i got lags in around 5 years of ffxiv gameplay, latency is between 20 and 40ms on shiva
Type of connection: wired
Other programs running while the game is playing: just drivers for my controller and a browser
Everything you have tried to resolve the issue: restart Router, restart PC, ask other ppl if they have the same issue
yesterday in our raid all ppl had the issues, and this appeared after the last patches/hotfixes, before that it was all smoth without any problems

Hello affenmensch, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums
The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. Most of the time, it results from certain security/privacy changes on Internet Explorer. Other times it occurs when an application that is running in the background is causing interference, such as Anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, etc.
Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference.
Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don't use Internet Explorer), please do not use Edge as that is a different internet platform. Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED.
[SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
Please RESTART your PC now.
Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, then there is a communication error.
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV! Hope to see you online.

Hey Ty again for your answer
its clearly not a Problem on my side, game was running fine before the hotfixes, and i think you know that we had the big 40+ pages thread about the chaos lags some while ago
its just the same as before, and need to be fixed on gameserver side again like it was a while ago.
if this would be a Problem on my side, i would not get infos from other players that they get the same lags since some patches/hotfixes ago.
would be nice if you can forward this to someone who does the server side stuff and can look into it, maybe
ty for your time to help

I'm having the same problem (Chaos Datacenter). The lag started back in last November (2017!), after some sort of network maintenance Square Enix did.
After the Data Center crash a few months ago it got fixed, everything was smooth for some time but it came back a few weeks ago, about the time when the Companion App was released.

Jup, rarely but it does for me too. Doing eureka fine with full internet and suddenly everything stops moving only to jump a few sec afterwards. Or spells not triggering or not reaching the targed. All that stuff we just know too well...

same here over on exodus. Lags started sun or monday. It was fine tues now its back.

Hello everyone, were you all able to try some of the troubleshooting options listed above?
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
-
Same problem for me on ragnarok :( Was fine last week started happening last couple of days.
Edit: Tried the troubleshooting steps, hasn't seemed to have helped.
-
Yup, same for me.
I'm on pc(win10), Moogle server, Proximus/belgacom(Belgium)
I've experience bad Lags, some freezes...and 90k this past 2 weeks.
Dind't have any problems for over a year.(the 3/4 months before stormblood release).
PS: Sorry for my english, but it seems like no one is posting for this problem on the fr forum and i can understand why, last year we've been ask the same things for over 3 months before the problems got finaly resolve(contact your internet provider, post tracert...there's nothing we can do).

Thank you for the reply.
If the suggestions listed did not resolve the issue, I'd suggest trying some of the following:
Reset your router by turning it off for a few minutes, then back on.
Make sure to use a wired Ethernet connection as opposed to wireless
Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Doesn't work.
Changing IE parameters, wired, clean boot, reset router.
Like i've said in my previous message, the game was running just fine 'till day's ago.
Same pc, same provider, same router...i haven't install any new software, no windows update.
Already been kicked from the game 2 times tonight...and error 2002 after the first 90k.
It happen everywhere, openworld or instances.

I'm having the same lag issues since early today, I tried all the troubleshooting steps and sadly it didn't fix the problem, I contacted my ISP and everything works just fine on my end, only FFXIV is affected... :(
