Suggestion to deal with AFK'ers

1. Add a contribution system... well not all is trying to spawn the same thing, but let it record so as if you do content killing mobs to help doing something you will be able to get XP/Light/Reward from fate, if you afk doing no offensive defensive actions... you would get like 10% XP and no rewards or crystals, as in gotta have an activity log... and if you stop doing stuff combat wise... it will fade out in 3-5 minutes and you would lose your chance to gain rewards from fate untill you start doing stuff again, of course a 10-15min CD when just entered instance of course, no need to punish newly entered and motivated players.

2. Mobs will run to AFK people or people not flagged for having done any stuff, and kill them more freequently... after 3 deaths same area not been recorded for any activity combat wise.. kick from instance.

Ludicrous suggestion. Personally, I enjoy helping the lowers spawn nms but when there is a train of 60-80 ppl all trying to hit the same spawn mobs, I tend to hang back some. Most of the AFKers are sitting stationary by transfer portals anyway and only join when the nm is called. As long as stuff is dying quickly it really doesn't matter.

1. the programming to do that would be ridiculous and unlikely to be done because they rather spend the energy elsewhere.

2. I've been there trying to help spawn and see thing dead before i can either target.. sometimes you just end up not doing it cause people with slightly better internet or pc's are just faster. the rewards on the nm is done by contribution just deal with it. does it really ruin your day that someone may not be constantly killing trash mobs in content where there is 60+ other people to hit that trash mob?

It is simple to just log activity, game does it all the time, you can just check the battle/event text window for starters and use that, I like some kind of system so can have only active players in dungeons/instances.

I think your proposal would be 'taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut'. How much harm do they do? In a full instance probably not very much. I've had people afk in groups I've joined and while that can be a bit irritating, it's up to the party leader to kick or tolerate it.
People who drag mobs over to kill afkers irritate me more. Some of them may be too low level to contribute or simply taking a well-deserved break. There is no way for the casual observer to differentiate between someone watching Netflix and waiting for the NM to pop and someone unavoidably afk due to life.
I'm sick of the salt in Pagos. Anemos got bad on occasion but Pagos seems so much worse. If afkers bother you, maybe make your own group and kick anyone who afks, or just chill, play the way you want to and don't worry about what other people are doing.

I'd like some changes to Pagos but spending dev time on finding ways to identify and punish people for going afk seems wasteful to me. If this was fun and engaging content the problem would not have occurred.

Is it a little annoying to work hard spawning an NM while dozens of other people just stand around and do nothing? Sure. Does it ultimately have any impact on the game? Not really. There are many many other aspects of Eureka that I'd like to see dev time/effort put into before they think of ways to deal with AFKers.

When certain people realize they need to get a lot of light or obtain the one item they want, they'll quit the instance. Some are just riding the train to level, so they can use aethernet and mounts while chaining. Others won't ever use the train. Unless they seriously nerf the instance, the afkers will not get much out of it, even in the long run.

More people doing stuff = faster pops, Cassie as for one as it is, if 30% is AFK or the likes you may see where the train is going.

Possibly afk parties are forming because a lot of people will not invite someone who states they want to join a party and go afk (Yes, people actually do that!). It is annoying to see a lot of high-levels afk and not contributing, especially if you've been trying to spawn something for a long time. However, I'd rather see positive changes to the content itself than introduce punitive measures that might hurt new players later on or people who simply need a break or have to attend something in RL.

Your own post on Cassie in the Fates section seems to suggest 'fast' popping might not be possible even if everyone contributes, 200-300 kills and no spawn sounds horrendous.
I was in Pagos yesterday and of the six or so fates that popped, the train was only actively working on two of them when they spawned. Looking at that and Yoshi's rather cryptic comments about us not having discovered the most efficient routes for levelling and light farming yet, I've got a sinking feeling that the devs have taken something simple:- Kill mobs > reach target number > fate pops and put in some horrible, complicated hidden requirements on top. If that is the case, then stopping afkers or finding some way to punish them might not get fates to pop faster.

To sum up, I do share your frustration to some extent. However, I still feel the problem is with the content itself. Leeching and non-participation are consequences of:
1) Eueka's design making it possible and
2) Pagos in particular being so tedious that people don't want to participate.

More people doing stuff = more people missing NM FATES. When people go to spawn a NM and a different NM spawns, if they can't teleport near the NM, they will miss it because the NA/EU community cannot wait to pull to give people a chance to get to the NM. They probably think pulling faster will punish the AFKers by not giving AFKers a chance to get to the NM, but the AFKers are already AFKing near the NM being spawned. The ones who are getting punished for not already being at the NM is groups trying to spawn other NM. So I can understand why people under level 30 don't bother chaining stuff. Its a lot worse exp to miss a NM than it is to chain kill stuff.

Sigh... looks like the devs listened to this bad advice.

Bozja handles AFKers with a simple and elegant system.

If you're not killing world mobs, you don't get the drops you came for at a good rate.

The only reasons to do skirmishes and CEs is mettle and xp and lockboxes. Everything else is easily gotten by just doing a mob farm. Get your party. Three people doing AoE farms for mats, while your friends are doing skirmishes for mettle to get caught up. While they do Skirmies and CEs, you're still farming mobs.

EVERYONE gets drops. If you have one in each tier, farming rank 1s, everyone's getting all the stuff they need.

The mobs are -important- and trying to play Bozja like Eureka will not end well.
