Will that be for both genders (since Squall, Cloud and Zidane's outfits can be worn by anyone)?
We alreqdy have squalls
Clouds
Zidane glamour xD.
I think they're asking since female characters can wear Squall, Cloud and Zidane's gear wouldn't Rinoa, Tifa and Garnet's gear also have to be unisex?
Umm... you guys know Faris is a she, right? So you're still short on male outfits.
Tifa — a sleeveless crop top t-shirt and shorts with suspenders. (Not a very feminine outfit except for the fact that it shows off her shape, something that would be equally feminine on a woman and masculine on a man.)
Rinoa — a long sleeveless jacket over a short sleeved shirt and shorts. (While Rinoa herself is quite feminine looking, there's nothing in particular about her outfit that is.)
Dagger — pants that continue up into part of a top (not the right part to be called "overalls" but that's the closest to a real world equivalent I can think of), worn over a long sleeved puffy shirt. (It's unusual enough for either gender that I can't think how it would be placed as either masculine or feminine, which probably means it could work equally well for either.)
I don't see anything about any of them that would suggest they should be gender specific. So yes, they can all be put in as unisex outfits, just as their Squall, Cloud and Zidane counterparts are. (I'd kind of like the Rinoa one, though I don't personally care much for the other two.)
Then again, there's nothing about Lightning's or Snow's outfits that justifies a gender lock, either. (In fact, Lightning's outfit was a uniform worn by both genders in the game she came from. It's just that she was the only one with that uniform to be central to the plot.) Yet, for some reason, they did get gender locked. :(
I would love all these but after years of wanting the only thing that you can expect is disappointment. Since this game is all about the money grab these days it's surprising that they haven't cashed in on these attire. Especially when they must be pretty easy to implement...
Her official artwork has her looking very similar to Setzer, sans the scars, and her sprite outfit is very similar to Bartz' except without pants. It's part of her story that she was pretty much raised as a boy by the pirates and she disguises herself as one to keep their respect (except she's so beautiful that some still end up falling for her even while they think she's a man). Her job outfits before the "reveal" are even pretty gender neutral or similar to Bartz', with Mystic Knight being the first to display some cleavage. So if we get Faris' most iconic outfit, it'd be her Amano artwork one, i.e. the Setzer-like longcoat sans-sleeves and the one she's disguising herself as a man with (I'm also a believer that clothes are just clothes, which is my biggest gripe with the gender locked outfits here).
Answering your question, Cloud has become a memetic cross-dresser since he's been allowed to use female-only equipment in his spin-off appearances (Dissidia and Duodecim, FFT); He's not a transvestite in his home game because he doesn't CHOOSE or LIKE wearing women's clothes outside of that sequence. However, Faris CHOOSES to continue dressing "like a man" the rest of the plot (and is visibly uncomfortable in the sequence in Castle Tycoon when she's FORCED to dress like a princess, plot-wise, the characters clothes don't change when they change jobs, only gameplay-wise), while Cloud only CHOSE to wear the dress (and was mostly forced by Aerith) to save Tifa.
Also on the artwork thing here is her official Amano artwork, very similar to Setzer's coat (and even long hair like Setzer except tied up), except sleeveless with a blue undercoat and white pants, compare Setzer's.
This other outfit may be more "feminine" but it's still a breastplate/pants/boots combo, just red and with added cape. This Amano sketch is, well, sketchy but is still a Pirate outfit and cape. This is the same breastplate, sash, pants, boots, cape combo just more decorated as is Amano's style. Compare her decidedly more feminine sister Lenna
Imagine if we get Tifa glamour but it's for male roes only.
Okay, you do know the reason she resembles Setzer is because she was used as the basis for his design right? So you can't really say her coat/outfit resembles his, its the other way around, his outfit resembles hers. You are not wrong that he backstory has he being raised as a boy and even dressing like one, but dressing like a boy and being a cross-dresser aren't mutually exclusive. As for her outfits, they aren't similar to Bartz's they are similar to Lenna's and a few of Krile's. Also why does cleavage have to be the first thing to show she's a she, what if she was flat chested, T.T How mean.
Knight: Her armor is identical to Lenna's in color and style
Monk: Both her and Krile are wearing pants suits, and in sprite form it resemble Lenna's dress
Thief: All of the girls have patterns on their scarves
Black Mage: All of the girls are wearing robes, not cloaks
White Mage: All of the girls have their hoods up
Blue Mage: All of the girls wear a beret in addition to their mask
Red Mage: None
Time Mage: None
Summoner: None
Berserker: All of the girls are a type of cat, and the boys are dogs
Mystic Knight: I'm sure this one is self explanatory, lol
Mime: None (its their normal outfit enhanced)
Beastmaster: Lenna and Faris are the only ones without horns
Geomancer: None
Ninja: Lenna and Faris are a shade of purple, and all the girls wear scarves
Ranger: None
Bard: None
Dragoon: It's hard to describe, but the best thing that could be said of this one is none of the girls wear pants, but that could also be grasping at straws
Dancer: This is the one outfit she has where Faris and Bartz have similar outfits, compared to the others
Samurai: If I'm going by sprites, at least the ones I can see, none of the girls have helmets on, but in the artwork she does so not sure.
Chemist:None
The 4 extra jobs are all unique to them and their color scheme
Also you are describing her outfit as a breastplate/pants/boots combo, can women not wear those? And the other thing is you're saying compare her to her more feminine sister... why? Does Lenna being more feminine make her more of a girl and Faris less of one? female=/=feminine and male =/=masculine. Not trying to turn this into anything just making it aware.
I've been asking for Aerith's outfit and hairstyle for years now. I think this outfit would actually look good on all the races. I am still hoping!
Can I throw in Lightning's FF13-2 armor, Cloud/Zack's SOLDIER armor, Vincent Valentine's armor if possible, as well as Cidney's (Cindy's), Luna, and Noctis' outfits into this request?
A wonderful compromise. Please let female classes have Those outfits and Give male classes Cloud, Squall, and Tidus hair or weapons.
They should just release all the main characters clothes from all the ff games and make them unisex.
I wish Lightning's and Snow's were both unisex, but apart from that, I think that's more or less what they're doing. They're just pacing it out one or two at a time so there will be more left to give us next year and the year after, etc.
I wish they'd branch out to including antagonists as well, though, because I want Kuja's outfit.
The point is that they're UNISEX, not male or female, did you miss the point were I mentioned clothes are clothes? or when I mentioned her clothes have the perfect excuse for being Unisex? Damn, I've even mentioned being non-binary myself in this very forum. I mention Lenna having a more feminine design because it contrasts Faris' and goes to the more obvious Amano style of being very androgynous, even Locke and Edgar can look feminine in Amano artworks while Squall looks very androgynous (I should know, I have the Amano artbooks for FF1 thru 10). Thanks for putting words in my mouth :D
As far as the comparison to Setzer, it doesn't matter who inspired whom (and did I ever say HE insipred HER or are we just putting words in my mouth again?), that's why it's a comparison. The point is that her official outfit (and the one with the highest chance of us getting) is so similar to a male character's that basically saying "it can't be a male outfit because she's a girl" is...wrong.
EDIT:
Yes pls, and also seconded on Kuja's outfit, I want Seymour's as well but it looks like it'd be a clipping nightmare.
Okay, to start, I didn't put any words in your mouth. I've merely been elaborating on things you have said.
Yes you did say cloths are cloths, and that her outfit has the highest chance to be unisex, but the way it was implied, it didn't show it as her outfit being unisex, just its chances.
I also just was showing you how her outfits aren't "men's clothing", which is a part of the clues to her true gender. You mentioned her outfits resembling Bartzs, I just pointed out they resemble Lenna's and Krile's more.
As far as the Setzer comparison, no you didn't state that he inspired her. But the direction that your sentence flows denote where the inspiration is from and where it is headed. It's because of that direction, that I just wanted to make you aware, in case you didn't know. It's like saying, your father resembles you, the direction of the statement is off.
And as far as my final statement about the comparison between the sisters. I was more or less asking, why make the comparison, especially since you want unisex clothing. Comparing a more masculine outfit to a more feminine outfit make no sense in that regard. Admittedly, I could of worded it like that, so I understand the confusion.
Faris is the rare example of an androgynous woman, instead of the more common androgynous man.
I repeat I haven't put any words in your mouth. I've just been adding to the conversation; and providing you with some new info you might not of been aware of. You did mention your own preferences, and I apologize if you felt "attacked" over what I may have said. But, I personally don't care about those kinds of things, you are you, that's it.
But this thread has semi been derailed lets get it back on track shall we.
Id rather we get Bartz and Noctis gear as unisex
I guess add Terra and lockes gear for gender base glamor
Be funny seeing a man Roe in terras gear though
The direction of the sentence wasn't about which inspired the other. It was based on which outfit was under discussion. The topic White Archmage was addressing there was about Faris' outfit (the iconic one in her concept art and story) being wearable by male characters if/when it's brought into this game. Pointing out that a very similar one was worn by a male character is pertinent to that. Your addition that his outfit was actually based off hers was helpful, but doesn't change the direction of the discussion. (We already have his outfit here as unisex so no longer need to discuss whether it can be.)
Your own discussion of the job outfits shown on her sprites wasn't particularly relevant, since those outfits aren't the ones that would be brought in as Faris' outfit. They're instead among the many examples of job gear that have been brought in as AF.
My wishlist:
All following outfits as Uni:
- Fang's Outfit
- Lightnings xiii-2 armor
-kingsglaive outfits
-gladios outfit
-aurons outfit
- rydias dress (LET BUFF ROE MEN WEAR IT!!!)
- Rinoas outfit
I can't, I concede.
Oh, I agree, his outfit is like the definition of "fabulous" lol. Also now that I think about it, Zenos reminds me of him. Why has no one thought of villian outfits.
It has been a pleasure conversing with you my good sir (bows)
