Where will Selbinians go now?

Is that the right term, Selbinians?


I like our little server. I rank it pretty high among communities in MMO's I have ever played on. I think it is getting harder to find such a good community in modern day MMO's. I was really looking forward to seeing SE finally offer a game up to par with the quality of our server. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is going to be sad to see it go.


Triple Spark is still debating where we want to go, and I was wondering where many in Selbina are thinking about going. The merger is still a month away, but never too early to start talking about it for those interested in moving together.

Though I personally hope this is something they reconsider, and just merge some lesser server into us.

I don't know most of my linkshell members are not on so we not yet debating on where we like to go. The issue is our friends i have many friends from many linkshell if i pick world 3 and let's say you guys as triple spark pick world 4 i lose a friend same goes for many other linkshell out there.

It going to be a hard month for us all in selbina i hope the world i pick guess the name selbina the only reason i pick it was because it remind me of ffxi and all the time i was in that town as a noob so there memory for me in that name same goes for other people in there world and reason why they pick it.

Well that's why I made this thread. Unfortunately there is no way everyone is going to end up on the same server.

But when it comes to narrowing our choices down (assuming they go ahead with this current plan), knowing who is going where might help.

At the moment all we have to go off are the server #'s, so to help us make our decision as an LS I thought it would be helpful to see what other people are interested in doing.

Wherever we end up, it won't be the same Selbina. But those of us that move together can ensure at least a part of what makes our server special is represented.

F**K let's go on strike WE SHALL, WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED!

We may go with 5 like other are doing 5elbina but really it up to the overall people in my linkshell we are a team and matter what happens we like to stay together.

I don't want to commit on a # this early, and maybe as a compromise (juding from how people are reacting to the announcement) they will release the names in which case we will just go to the new Selbina (you know Selbina will be one of the top 10 servers to survive).

I just want to know what people are basing their decision off of so we can make an informed choice when it comes to TS.

I may do a poll and which everyone vote on a number i also bet they release the names before seeing how people are going crazy over this but ya i think it going to be a team thing and we all going to end up going to a number we think is best for us and ask our friend go with us or a poll.

If they release the names before then we go to the new selbina i think they should rename the new servers something new but w/e lol.

I'll be discussing with the United Linkshells of Selbina, if there's a consensus I'll definitely spread the word about a number if you're interested, in /shout as well.

I'm bumping the selbina 5 movement before other servers *bucks at Lindblum* try to take it over. Ew

5elbina. That has a growing movement already. Might as well make use of it.

I am voting for 5elbina as well. Like Tricksy said might as well start hitting up the community now and do some shouts to get a lot of us that party and play together a chance to follow over to the new. Yoshidas post is currently telling us to work together moving as large groups if we want to keep our familiar community. Vote 5elbina!

I am a leader of a social linkshell on Selbina which is equally distributed between members from the EU, US and about 25% of the members coming from eastern countries. We also have bonds with a german language linkshell, and this means that a lot of stress is heading my way, too. And I spent the last night thinking a lot.

This collides heavily with many veteran (or "endgame") players, especially those who having nothing left to achieve on the game in its current state, except for leveling crafting maybe. We have many of those people on Selbina, and they are not taking a break until 2.0 like Yoshi-P guesses - they will be back for 1.21, play the new content until for 2 weeks until verything is done here, and then they'll disappear again (oh well, does he really think that people may be paying for 1.x just not to play it? He should cross-check the current subscriber against the logins, but that's another story. Back to the main topic now.)

Well, I will do "linkshell events" for the server merge, develop a strategy for this and repeat this for the time zones. And of course I thought about talking to other linkshell leaders, or maybe even the Selbina community can decide as a whole, to which server to go to (like some french XI linkshells agreed on going to Besaid 1.5 years ago).

But the server limits are a big threat here, because not everyone will be able to migrate from Selbina to the designated new world, probably. And those who are not actively playing for several hours per day (or at least during weekends) during stage 1 will most likely be left behind.

One thing is very likely: Server 01 will be filled up in no time. Probably the same will happen with the server 9, followed by 2, 5, and 8. Maybe the same with 10, but I have my doubts that this will be an effective solution (only few french people speak german well enough, and vice versa - in both countries the kids are learning the english language as a primary foreign language and the bonds to the english communities will be stronger). Server 10 will most likely end up in a mess.

So, as a result, I would focus on server 3, 4, 6, or 7 for the migration of my linkshell, simply there we'll have more time to get things organized than on the other ones which are more likely to be picked by other people.

But only as long as there is no decision made between Selbina citizens to migrate to a specific world, of course.

So, in case this may happen, my proposal for Selbina would be server #6 at the moment.

Reasons:

- Server #1 will be filled up in no time. It's the first on the list and everyone will head there.
- Server 2 will follow next.
- Server 9 will most likely be next, because it's also easy to reach and has an attractive position on the end with the list. Like the markets, the upper instance like Tinkerer's Ward fill up first, then come the last ones, and then the middle ones - Grocer's or Chirurgeon's ward are usually the last ones to be crowded, because they require the most keystrokes and drown between the others on the list.
- Servers 4 and 5 are the ones in the middle. They will follow next.
- This leaves servers 3, 6 and 7. I bet that 3 and 7 will hit the limit after 2 and 8 did, so 6 will have the highest chance to get most Selbina players on it until the end of the merger stages.

So, what do you think? I am really interested in your thoughts, because that's my responsibility as a LS owner. Thanks for input.

Good points Sol, it's just I think Gysahl is trying to claim 6 due to 6ysahl. Which would make sense, and regardless, because Selbina is one of the three largest, we will fill up quickest no matter what. 1,2,8,5 will be the most populated, and evidently our choice will be a factor in that.

The thing is, those that really want to be a part of where Selbina is going to migrate to, have a month to hear about this merge. They will be there to choose 5 with us.

I'm wondering if it will be possible for most of the LS leaders to get together and talk about where each is planning to go and attempting to keep majority of us together. (can only assume most people are sticking to their LS's why I say leaders) I know it will be hard and not everyone will agree/want to stay. but honestly I'm very happy with the people on this server. Never see any drama or anything and would like to keep it that way.

Also would be nice if People used http://xivpads.com/?ServerMerge To help us organize.

Pandorum linkshell have decided to move to 5 as everyone been saying 5elbina :) I hope the rest of the linkshell leader and players can agree on this also.

We are currently looking into making it possible to go by plan #2 which received many feadbacks and keep the merit from plan number 4. We need to check and verify the technical side and schedule so please give us until beginning of next week.

This is repeating what was mentioned before but at current timing there are few saying we are forcing this server merge but please understand that we are not.
