POTD CAST SPEED

How do I boost it? WHM spell holy is too slow yet I see others cast much faster. even without use of pom or swiftcast. I have 99 gear and 94 weapon.

I read "pom" as being short for pomander, in the context of PotD. I would read "PoM" as Prescence of Mind. Capital letters help it looks like an acronym.

(Granted, on further thought I don't think there's a speed-boosting pomander. But it's still what I thought of first.)

I misread pom and almost died.

The only thing I can think of is the weapon levels, but it doesn't sound right. Next time you see someone casting that much faster than you, check their gear to see if that's the case.
Also, I'm assuming you are speaking of other WHMs and Holy. Other jobs, other spells, casting times will be different.

Would the spell speed on normal gear affect PoTD casting speed, though? I've never personally seen that. Could be that the WHM's that OP is referring to make liberal use of PoM and Swiftcast. Or that they have the same spell speed, just that the full animation doesn't show up on OP's screen due to latency.

Just a thought - are you waiting until the spell animation ends before starting to cast your next spell? If so, you don't need to. As soon as the cast bar vanishes from your screen, you can cast again.

It took me a little while to work that out, since it's not instinctive when your character is still theoretically occupied with the spell as it goes off - but the game doesn't see it that way.

I believe food still affects it, but it'd not be a massive difference.

Thats what Ive been wondering, does the gear a player wears outside POTD effect inside at all? I thought all outside bonuses were removes and replacex with whatever bonus you get from the aetherpool gear. Ive made careful note of how other WHMs use swiftcast and presence of mind, yet even without using these skills their holy spell (and a few others) finish casting a lot faster. I also use foods inside, not sure if that effects my speeds any or if its placebo. I just cant match their speeds. Maybe if Im lucky enough to get a 99 weapon?
Edit: I also recast as soon as my hotbar allows me to, not so much the animation

As far as I know outside gear doesn't matter and every single job has a base GCD of 2.40s without any other buffs.

The gear you wear has no bearing on your stats inside PotD or HoH. Stats such as HP, Defense, and Attack Power are affected only by the values of your aetherpool arm and armor. Food does work in there, but the difference would be too small to contribute to anything significant like Skill Speed or Spell Speed timings.

I know that's the case outside but I'm positive it's 2.4 in deep dungeons, at least that's what it was when I checked inside HoH (maybe it's different in PotD)

I don't think so. I have a 2.4 GCD on my BRD, and I don't feel that fast in there.

Base GCD is 2.5s at 364 Skill Speed/Spell Speed.

OP, now I'm very curious about this. Would it be too much of an inconvenience to find a way to record something like this and post here? With permission from your party mates, of course. I'm thinking that it might be latency, but hard to say without replicating the factors myself.

Are you saying that the other effects don't work at all in there? That seems weird. I usually eat cheap +crit food, but I never considered that it might be doing nothing in this content...?

you swift the first holy so you stun the enemies which will allow you to have time to hard cast the rest of the holy spams

I think he’s saying that the benefits of them would be so miniscule that they wouldn’t make much of a difference. It’s hard to say what other stats like Crit and Direct Hit scale like in PotD/HoH, since you cannot look at your proper character menu in there, but if they return to baseline and scale in fixed intervals with the Aetherpool Arm/Armor, then +8% Crit may not be all to big of a difference damage-wise. The only ones that would have a noticeable benefit would be the extra HP from the extra VIT food gives you. But even that would not be terribly significant; could mean the difference between living and dying for anything that isn’t a one-shot, though.

That being said, I don’t see a reason to not use cheap food in there for extra Vitality; I just don’t think it has a great effect on other substats to make it something necessary.

Im on PS4, is there a way to record it on those?

PS4 is super easy for saving video - you just press the Share button and it gives you an option to save a video clip of the last 15 minutes. No need to have set up the recording beforehand.

Then you go into (I think) Settings - Storage - Capture Gallery and copy it to USB.

My apologies, I missed your reply, OP. Iscah has the right of it. Use the Share function. You'd have to set it up on your system, but it is pretty simple to set up. I have my Twitter linked for gpose, so I imagine getting it set up for video would be similarly as easy.

Cool, I'll have to try it out and see if I can get a few WHM's in there for comparison.

Are you watching their actual casting animation, or just the cast bar on the party list? The cast bar on the party list has never been exactly correct for me - it appears after the cast has begun and fills up really quickly, so that bar doesn't match the actual cast time. Compare your actual animation with them.

Does anyone know if any medicine shows any real benefit in POTD and HoH? Like for example Strength Potions.
