Johnny brings you news of Square Enix's financial recovery....

Couldn't actually read the article since I'm at work but if anyone gets the newsletter might be a nice read.

All it really says is due to the smash hits they brung out over the last half year, they made a huge profit

nothing new there, its called releasing new console games, of course there will be profit!

either way if revenues are up then they are not in as bad a hole as some try and make them out to be and the more monies they have the more they can throw at XIV.

Lol FF is SE's baby, they will throw all thier money at it to make it succeed.

FF was Hironobu Sakaguchi's baby and they forced his resignation a long time ago, SE's management doesn't give a crap about FF unless it makes them obscene amounts of money.

I am pretty sure SE's management teams understands FF is a huge staple to SE, and brings a ton of loyal/hardcore fans who will almost buy anything they throw at them.. if FF14 didnt have Final Fantasy in it.. I wouldn't be playing it.. I play it cause FF is SE's pride and joy and I know they will do whatever it takes to have it up to par amongst competing mmo's...

Oh my god of course is that why FFXIV is still here after it was was making huge losses while we werent paying, it all makes sense now how could I have been so stupid.

If they just wanted obscene amounts of mone they would have pulled the plug DEC 2010 latest, you do realise it will take atleast 4 years from 2.0 to make 1 yen from FFXIV dont you, and thats if 2.0 is a huge success.

It shows that Square Enix gives a damn about the Final Fantasy series no matter how you look at it. If not like some said they would have dropped it a long time ago.

Some complain there is so much to fix and most have valid points but there is a reason why we stick around because we know Square Enix will do all it can to make things right unlike other gaming companies not to menton names.

Yeah, at least SE cares, every patch makes this game better. I'm sure by 2.0 it will thrive on its own.

I have no doubt the programmers care, in fact I know THEY do, but management is only a few steps away from doing what EA games does. How are you guys liking the 3$ skin with 13-2?

And they only kept 14 going because it still can be a profit, otherwise it's just throwing their whole investment out the window. It also hurts future sales if you have a failed project like this in your face, people would reference 14 every time somebody had news about 15, but if they manage to salvage it then it won't hurt it as much.

They cannot think "oh this game will make profit in 4, 5, 6, latest of 8 years from now". They think "this is loosing money you have xxx amount of time to fix it or we will pull the plug"

If they dropped FFXIV in Dec 2010 they could have made alot more profit than the millions in losses from FFXIV alone, they are sticking with FFXIV because FF is the flagship franchise for SE, pretty much they let FF fail they will start to loose alot of money, imagine if Nintendo dropped Mario, that would be alot of money and games gone.

And your mention of FFXIII-2 being a $3 reskin is just plain stupid, its a damn sequil to XIII, of course alot will be the same, did you say the last 2 matrix movies sucked because they had the same characters and locations.

Or Super Mario on the Wii, blatent reskin of the origanal NES ones NINTENDO DONT CARE ABOUT MARIO!!!!!!!

A couple of examples why you would be affected if they put an IQ limit on the internet.

And yes I do have 10 IQ points to spare, you however dont.

what he said is they are selling a 3 dollar skin(for the in game characters, you can buy new outfits for them)

And the reason this game hasn't been shut down is because they know nuking a Final Fantasy game after a few months will damage the company possibly beyond repair. Yes they care about profit but FFXIV has lost SE millions, to keep it going, it would have saved them millions to nuke it and work on something else if it wasn't a flagship title.

It's not news, but it's important.
SE is still employing 250 full time salaries to work on this game each month,
and sub fees would be fortunate to cover 20% of that prior to 2.0

Troll attempt? You were the one who turned a comment about something else into a personal attack, and I just found it funny that in a post dedicated to insulting my intelligence you proved you spelled like an 8 year old.

And yeah I get that they're out to make money which isn't a bad thing, it just sucks for us when it happens at the cost of the game quality. That's why FFXIV was what it was at it's release. It isn't the first time either, all the special features with 13-2 like the casino and battle system improvements, if those had been included in 13 then I wouldn't have felt so bad about spending 60 bucks on it.

I remember reading somewhere that FFX's ending was rushed because they put a deadline on it's development. If that's true then that's really disappointing because they could have made it better. And it makes sense they didn't put time into touching it up or they would have edited that laughing scene in Luca.

It's just a personal wish that they would spend more time touching up their projects, instead of worrying about getting something on the market quickly to make a lot of money. Heck one more year and 14 wouldn't have bombed like it did.

What you are proving is that you enjoy taking the piss out of someone with a know disorder, Dyslexia is wide spread and according to you makes people "Spell like an 8 year old" I didn't mind you the first time, but after I hinted at it you had to take the piss out of me.

What you fail to realise is if SE was just after profit Wada would have pulled the plug on FFXIV in Dec 2010. It wasn't Wada that rushed the game out, it was Tanaka (being the director) that said it was ready for release.

I do agree it was rushed out, but that wasn't for profit, Tanaka was under the delusion that it was ready for release. You fail to realise that the amount of staff involved with FFXIV could be added to other projects at the click of a finger, projects that would make SE more money faster than FFXIV, I admitedly said at least 4 years but looking further into it, they will make no profit for at least 6 years which is a long time and SE could have gone under by then.

And your mention of FFX, all projects have deadlines, if they are running behind schedule things must suffer thats life, whether its because it was rushed or its because they didnt have time for something better isn't our business.
