Ok be honest...

about commendations.
Have you ever kind of lingered around after a raid or party before exiting in the hopes or chance you get more comms from people to let them vote.

Occasionally if I feel I was the better healer of the two i'll kind of cast on loot, do a random buff or change AST sect like "la la la busy busy busy..."and exit when enough time has passed and i'm not the last one.

Just curious of others Healing vanity because lets face it, we do usually get the vote:cool: lol

How to get comm:
1) say "first time" in everything even when it not your first time
2) play female miqote or aura with slootglam
3) never dps, make sure you're keeping the other party members at 100% health 100% of the time
It makes your Tank feel safe and the DPS think "wow such a great healer, I could stand in the fire like a moron as usual and they kept me alive, not like those grumpy dps healers who refuse to heal!"

I don't comm players for doing their job. Although I do comm the player who did their job when no one else did.

I.e. its a gongshow of a run and you're the only player who knew his/her sh**

Of course I do - at least stick around long enough to give people a chance to comm me.
This I do regardless of role, since in my experience I have just as much a chance of getting some commendations if I play Healer as if I play Tank or DPS - i.e. it is pretty random.

Sometimes.

When I feel like I did all the work on keeping the team alive by rezzing (I main RDM), I stick around to see if I get player comms; when I use to play as BRD, I would linger to see if I get comms for playing songs when necessary.

There would be times where I don't expect to get player comms and I get a couple and I'm thinking, "what did I do?" lol

As a tank main I have more comms than I know what to do with.
If you're hurting for some, play tank.

I don't lie about it being my first time, I play an Au Ra though it's 50/50 as to whether my glam is particularly revealing and I play in the exact opposite style to what you suggest and I get a ton of comms.

My boyfriend technically started playing before me but he's done mostly DRG and WAR and I think at this point I have around 7x what he does, though admittedly in the last few months he has played far less than I have.

I think the best way to get comms is to just say literally anything in chat. I always give a "hiya o/" at the start and a "thanks guys!" at the end and that alone seems to get me some. I'd also say if you manage to give helpful advice that can sometimes pan out well, also taking responsibility for your mistakes. I have typed out a quick "sorry, my bad!" during a hardcasted raise and walked out with like 5 comms when nothing else of note happened.

Overall I think it's just about making people like you. They're already inclined to like you because during most fights you are literally saving their lives multiple times, throw a little social interaction on top and you're gold.

To answer the initial question... I suppose? Generally only when I feel I have done something particularly comm-worthy. I had a Final Steps of Faith the other day where the SCH just couldn't keep herself alive so I legitimately solo healed it. I waited for the cutscene watchers to be out for that one. Got 4 comms too. I know how annoying it is to recognize someone going above and beyind during a fight only to have them leave like instantly and be unable to comm them, not trying to do that to people. If it's business as usual though I tend to leave pretty quick.

i com for glams or if someone flirts with me.

I did linger and wait when I was trying to get one of the achievements, but now I just commend who I felt did a good job (nobody if everyone did a bad job and didn't try to do better) and hop on out. The achievements for getting 1500 and 3000 commendations will take forever regardless.

I always like to give/receive comms, but it seems like many people are so quick to exit a lot of times I end up giving it into to whoever sticks around. :D
Which, after thinking about it, isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as that’s the kind of player I prefer. Those who don’t view the game as just a rush from one thing to another and are willing to take a little time to interact with their fellow players.
No offense to those whose play style is different than this though!

I'm not even on my original ARR character and... hm, I don't remember if I've broken 2k comms, but definitely a few hundred over 1.5k at least.

I feel the best way to get commies is to interact just enough to stand out, and of course do your job effectively. Try creating a unique macro to introduceyourself, I point out I'm a Lala and that I'm cute, then I point out any other lalas in the party. If we are all lalas I say the cuteness is over 9000, lol. Also add joke macros, if you mess up have one that expresses disappointment in yourself, as a joke. Try a simple but funny macro for some skills, like raise, goad, trick attack. Something that stands out but doesn't feel spammy. And add in some personal macros for everyday things, for those bits of down time when someone goes afk. I have one where I pickpocket a "fallen" ally, one where I die of embarrassment, and one where I throw gil at them to umm... shake it, lol.

I mean I'm just about 200 shy of 5k, so I must be doing something right. Lol

I find most players are like typical consumers:
*you will hear complaints before you hear praise.
*most are not paying attention to your performance until you screw up.
*players will literally give a commodification to the last name that sticks in their memory.

Of course I stick around a little. If you race out of there, you've got no chance for commends. Usually, I wait for gear to be distributed & leave when people start walking to the exit.

I'll give a commendation right after the fight ends because I've already made up my mind about who was good enough. Being bog standard at their job doesn't get them a commendation from me, but doing it actually well and not being annoying in chat gives them a chance. I find myself often giving commendations to people I didn't really notice, like some BRD that I never had to heal and never took aggro from the tank. Often times for me, not noticing someone means they're a good player/person, because they're not pissing me off. Or people who make good use of their role abilities, like if everyone is dying and I'm throwing all my MP away on raising them, so some SMN used Manashift to help me out.

Being the last person standing at the exit will not get you a commendation from me, because I know that's why you're still there.

And funny enough, I tend to get them the most when someone's being an idiot and I say some funny comeback. Maybe they just like my name. Though I did get three the other day after Rabanastre because we kept wiping on the same boss and I was insistent on asking what the problem was so we could fix it, and reassuring our alliance that we were fine and we just kept failing because one of the others would randomly just all be dead. And that was even after I lagged out after the last boss fight. I figured I wouldn't get any commendations because I was gone.

And then sometimes you get none even when you thought you did great. Some people just want to get them and never give them.

There's no shame in that. I'm not in any rush. I don't take comms too seriously, but it's nice to be acknowledged, and I'm deliberate in giving them out.

I always find it funny when people do things deliberately to try to get commendations that have nothing to do with performing well, like doing some cutesy macro and emoting at every boss and just trying to see Fun And Likable when they're really just in it for the commendations. Doing stuff like that on purpose makes me want to give them commendations less. Be a normal person and play well and you'll get one.

I usually just give the comm to the one I healed the less or a good tank.
I do wait a few second more to see if anyone give comm to me.(Shamefully rise my hand.

I usually wait for others to finish viewing their cutscene and after few seconds i exit the area.

When I fked something and I dont think that I deserve any I just quit and dont wait for anything, because there are ppl that just give comms to healers due to habit or something like that.

Are you kidding? Everyone is already gone from the instance before I can even finish saying, "thanks for the party everyone! And grats on the clear new peeps! Hope I did OK. BTW, if you wouldn't mind passing on that minion, that would be super cool. Oh and...."

I primarily look to give my comms to DPS based off their performance as healers/tanks are bound to receive the comms just for being their role, regardless if they're good or not. The DPS that made the run overall faster, helped explain things, or made use of their utility deserve the love, too. Otherwise I don't really give my commendations out otherwise other than maybe the healer if they, again, made the run overall faster.

It honestly just depends. There are so many factors and depends if people just want to give them out. This coming from a guy who has 4820 or on his main and 540 on his alt. (Yes I do probs play this game a bit much.) I myself do always try to give out comms, even if some of the times its to the undeserving.

It really depends, if a run was nice and went well I'll linger a bit, but also to give out comms myself. If it was god-awful I'll leave the moment I can >__> Unless I saved all of their asses and low-key expect some praise in the form of digital shoulder pats, I don't want to spend a second more in there!
Also, for some reason I notice people give out comms in the easy-as-heck guildhests (yay for getting lucky in Mentor Roulette \o/). I mean, I appreciate them, but me just spamming stone and maybe 1 cure to kill that armour guy... is that really commendable?

Mostly on Bard, over 1000 coms in a little over 2 yrs. Did potd, H on H and select or HAVE to do dungeons for loot, tomes or MSQ.

No, i don't stick around for commendations. I sometimes stick around for other reasons, such as talking a bit to people. But i handle commendations differently than most. In my view commendations are not for people who played well, but for those who were fun to play with, which usually requires them to do some chatting. But since hardly anyone ever writes in the chat apart from "hello" at the beginning and "gg" at the end (and when there was a conversation, in most cases it was i who started it), i only rarely give out commendations.

my first 700 comms came from my Drg performance, around 500 from Smn and Brd, and from tanking and healing over 6000 with a grand total of 7766. War and Sch main i stance dance, dps, and mitigate damage well. i usually dont say shit to no one but 0/ speed run everything making sure my heal is comfortable in dpsing with minimal healing. i usually get three comms from 4man, i always comm heals when i tank unless they dont dps in which i comm a Dps and when i Dps i only comm another Dps or Heal. i have received 5 to 7 comms from 8man and 24man when i use to torture myself in duty finder Ex Primals in 2.0, 3.0, and old to new 24man. I always comm ppl on thier performance with the occasionally slip, i dont care for chatter unless your funny or you need help with a mechanic or rotation, to many ppl are not funny but lame when they tell jokes.

So I recently hit the 3k and think the reward is a little underwhelming - a palette swapped Fat Chocobo doesn't really do it for me. Should have checked the reward out first.
Was expecting something a bit more 'parade-y'. First World problems, eh?
(also i'm under no allusions that playing a healer-full time got me there much quicker than if i'd been a DPS)

I do stick around for about 5 seconds in case for comms or if I want to comm someone.

Though I usually give the healer a commendation because I know how hard it is playing one sometimes. Other than that if I see a summoner/red mage resurrecting someone, tanks being overall extremely sturdy for some reason, something else that stands out, or they're a male that flirts with me and I'm desperate, I'll give them a commendation.

By the time I remember that commendations are a thing and I'm supposed to commend someone they've already left.

Conversations are nice, but far from natural when playing with a controller. I'm one of those people that just says hello & gg unless there's reason to say more. It's just too difficult to do my part & type at the same time. I'll gladly give out advice if someone needs it, but if the run is smooth & clean, I just don't have time to talk.

Not a healer but if anything, commendations make me a little embarrassed. I wait around just long enough to thank people for the run, give them a couple of seconds to reply if they want and then leave. I feel somehow rude about saying goodbye and leaving a party at light speed without giving people at least a brief chance to acknowledge it for some reason.


As for me, I ignore performance and commend whomever was able to work up a friendly "Hello" and "Goodbye". My standards used to be higher like Naryoril's, but I've had to lower my expectations and be grateful for at least that much as time went on. Albeit, I usually don't count "gg's".

In fact, I'm more likely to commend "bad" players than good because I'd rather they not feel bad and discouraged following a chaotic run - that is, if they appeared to be affected by it in the first place.

I enjoy getting commendations; but, that's not why I am still hanging around at the end. Chances are I'm attempting to get a good screenshot. :)

I try to leave before the commends go out, honestly. I've gotten nearly 5 thousand of them over the years I've been playing. There's nothing past the 3k reward, so there's no reason for me to take them from someone who might actually need them.

I don't necessarily wait for comms, I just head over to the exit portal, at a very ... even pace...

I stick around to commend other and probably get one from at least one person (here's hoping people do remember to commend for their weekly challenge log for free gil and xp.)

As far as commendations go, I normally do the following:

- As tank, commend the healer
- As healer, commend the tank
- As DPS, commend the other DPS

However, I will make exceptions if there is a single person that stands above the rest and/or others aren't making use of their toolkit roles much (Zero DPS healers, DPS that don't aoe multiple enemies, Tanks that don't use Defensive Cooldowns, and rude people, I am looking at you).

I don't wait around much anymore after loot rolls are done, regardless of what job role I am. Though I do still toss out commends myself unless I absolutely feel that literally no one in the party deserves one.

The reason for this is because I'm sitting at well over 7000+ commends right now, and I really don't need any more then that. So I generally consider leaving ASAP so that the commends can go to those who still need them for the achievements. That said... the loot rolls don't always go through quickly. So I'm still standing there giving players plenty of opportunity to commend me if they want. And while I don't get as much as I used to due to me leaving as soon as loot rolls are done, I still get them from time to time.

I'm pretty sure at least 1/4th of my commends received come from my avatar simply being a female Miqo'te who I aimed to have an "elegant and beautiful" type of glamour appearance for my healer roles. Course, I've walked away with a bunch of commends on my Tank roles too. And sometimes even my DPS roles. (My MNK got two commends this week for my weekly Lighthouse 24 man run actually)

With the things I've seen with randoms in Duty Finder, this wouldn't surprise me in the least. Meanwhile, when I see DPS standing in the fire, I'm screaming internally at them to get out of the fire already so that I can get back to DPSing. :P
