Most people queue in training mode during pre-season so games go faster. It's a mess because people can duo queue, and teams are completely imbalanced - but it's the thing to do while we wait on ranked.
I would think they'd queue up in actual ranked mode since doesn't your pre-season activity affect where you are on the leaderboards at the start of the next seasons?
Yeah, where you end up in pre-season is how they determine your placement for the next season. If you are Diamond, you become Gold. Platinum to Silver, and so on.
Seems like a huge waste of time and it's beyond irritating doing Training, where healers heal less than 10k and feasters are duo queueing. Even if I want to practice a new job I can't.
It also carries over your rating/tier from the previous season, at least according to the Lodestone post. So someone who has reached Diamond in season 7 should already be Diamond tier during the current pre-season, so they won't have any reason to do ranked mode right now.
cuz no one cares about pre-season? ppl would be doing team pvp anyways for the tournament.
My point being, why wouldn't the Platinums want to now achieve Diamond in Preseason so they can start off as Golds in the real season? Why wouldn't the Golds want to become Platinum or Diamond? Why wouldn't the Silvers want to become Gold, Platinum, or Diamond? Why wouldn't - etc, etc, etc.
Not everyone is a Diamond. Diamonds are the smallest group. Everyone else would have something to gain from Preseason.
Everyone also has something to lose in the pre-season, since losing will still decrease their rating. There's no point in risking your platinum/gold rank and starting season 8 at bronze, or nothing at all.
Chances are also that players just want to relax a bit by participating in those feast training matches, before going back to the more competitive part, at the start of season 8.
Training doesn't reduce rank, right? I've only seen 1-2 diamonds, several platinums. I don't see silver/golds though. Most of them practicing on new jobs, probably frontline has more.
But demoting no longer matters because your highest score is the one that is graded now not the ending score...
You can get Diamond in Preseason then lose 100 matches and you will still get Diamond treatment at the end. So nothing to lose except maybe.. a happy day?
Pretty sure that's for the end results/rewards from the actual Feast season, not the pre-season. From the Lodestone post: "Player tiers and ratings will continue to change based on their pre-season performance." and "Starting tiers and ratings will be determined by player tiers at the end of the pre-season."
Yea, it's been proven if you earned Diamond and demoted in pre-season you'd be ranked in silver and not gold during the real season.
wait...what? because if this is true:
you just destroyed any incentive to play in the preseason for veteran players. They can only go down, not up.Quote:
Because anyone that was platinum/diamond rank in season 7 will already be that rank in the pre-season, meaning they'll automatically start at silver/gold at the start of season 8.
I'd put it down to the lack of incentives for regular players. The Garo event proved that the masses flocked to PvP when accessible incentives were provided.
Queue times were around five minutes for quite a few months at almost any hour on Aether.
Meanwhile many supposed 'enthusiasts' are on record stating that they rush to spam a game mode in the first week and then never touch it again.
Hopefully the developers start throwing more rewards at regular players to help alleviate high queue times.
