That is some bad clipping. I didn't spend $18 to see it consume my hands and grimore. Fem Roe bodies are not THAT huge, so I don't understand why SE oversizes some of their gear. Please ix this Square Enix

Except it's not just Roe's who see the clipping.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that SE is overly concerned about making things not clip. In the case of the dress, the preview picture showed the clipping, so I'm sure this is how it will be staying.
If it clips that bad on a Roe, imagine having a tail. With something like this it's most likely best to hide weapons/tools.
Not to mention this came from Chinese version, so SE couldn't just go and alter the clipping, I guess.
Wish they made it fit like how thavnairain wool dress fits.
Which entirely defeats the "no long hair because it clips" argument that gets thrown around. I'm glad I saw this thread before buying, I've wanted a nanamo-esque dress for my lala but honestly they need to put a lot more effort in to their designs
A lot of these items were NOT made for battle. They were made for socializing, IE, you wouldn't be carrying your weapons around on you.
I mean, do you show up at a wedding, or a dinner, etc with a giant axe strapped to your back or what-not?
Now, I get the thing about your hands clipping, but if you're going to complain about your sheathed weapons clipping then you're missing the point of some of these glamour items entirely.
EDIT: on that note, they really should allow for a "classless" class so that you could walk around without a weapon equipped. But until then you'll have to use something small that's not all that noticeable.
Have you considered Monk and The Emperor's New Fists? They basically make your weapon invisible. That might work for you?

This is what happens when you pick The Emperor's New Fists. it hides the arm gear of the set completely. My friend would love the dress still if it was not 18 dollars, they did not put 18 dollars worth of work into this to be baught on a single character. Also notice how her hand clips though the dress, I can understand some issues with clipping but this is a basic no, no.
The princess dress would look awesome if male characters could use it.
They need to just make all gear gender-unlocked. If a guy wants to dress up as a pretty princess who cares. And with the example given of how this dress fits on roegadyn it appears to me that they have some kind of system in place that just scales the model for whichever race is wearing it.
Oh that was makai fists* sorry, but ya my friend didn't like those hiding the dress gloves. also MCH weapon does clip bad

the gun is understandable, that is not the issue, it would be nice to be able hide the ammo case for situations like this
Aren’t those the Makai Fists? The Emperor’s New Fists are from the glamour prism vendors. (Or people tend to resell them on the marketboard.) edit: other post appeared while I was typing
Anyway the leftmost small button at the bottom of the image (with the sword icon) is the one you’re looking for to turn weapons off.
I'm not saying that the clipping is okay but I am surprised that you didn't expect it given that an extremely large amount of gear in the game clips into hands and weapons regardless of your race. This is especially true for classes that have sheathed weapons at their hips.
I also find it funny that as a DRG, I stab a hole through my expensive dress each time I strike a pose hahaha
"Do you show up to your wedding or a dinner with a giant axe strapped to your back?" ....Do you not?
Also there is already an option to hide your weapon when it's sheathed. There really isn't any excuse though for the awful clipping in this game.
I'm going to just go there and mention that in ffxi they actually made adjustments to weapons like blm staffs so you could wear their amazing hats and your staff wouldn't clip because it was tilted to the side enough to not do so. They could at least make alterations to these sets to account for people who have tails
They shouldn't get a pass for being lazy when they have much better technology in this game than ffxi ever did and the nerve to charge actual money for something that xi would have put in for free as an event reward.
Now that we have a dress that clips REALLY, REALLY badly, please, Square Enix, for the love of the Twelve, give us LONG HAIRSTYLES!
From Yotsuyu, Ysayle to Word of Mother Minfillia!
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20160212102138
I don't really like Minfilia's hairstyle with that design. The plaits look really bulky and awkward.
Does anyone expect things not to clip anymore? SE is notorious with this by this point. EVERYTHING clips!
That's one grumpy Princess :p I agree, I wanted to get it for my Roe too, I expect we'd find several lalafell camping under it when it rains >.> Yes SE it's that big XD, the dress looks adorable on Au Ra and Miqo'te ladies, but the tail clipping is putting me off buying it for my Au Ra and Miqo alts :/
How are you surprised over people not expecting people's hands to clip though the dress when hands resting on idle and weapons drawn? If I am paying 18 dollars, some clipping sure, can't account for everything but these basic issues shouldn't be happening. At the very LEAST! the dress should not be eating my hands. Also the weapon is a simple book, you can't tell me SE is so poor they can't make the game place books on top of the dress, not clipping inside it. How come SE can't spend some extra money to make things look better while expecting us to pay 18 dollars for a glam? double standard much?
Idle poses, battle stances and weapon placements are fixed, and always have been. They never change to suit other gear, and I wouldn't expect this dress to be any different - especially when they've clearly shown in their advertising that hands clip into it.
Weapons sit on the waist, and the dress skirt starts above it (a separate design issue that I've posted about in the other topic). I agree it should look better, but given what it is, I'm not at all surprised that things get 'lost' in it.
That stances and weapon placements are fixed is all the more reason why gear designers should know where characters' hands are going to be (and tails, etc) and not put fabric there to clip through them.
And far too many people (not just here, but in lots of such threads) keep pointing out that other stuff clips, too. The fact that we have clipping problems already isn't a good reason to keep making them worse. It's like the designers on some of this stuff aren't even trying.
How many lalafells does one have to eat to make the dress poof out that solidly?
Yet we can't add more long hairstyles because they'll clip with gear.
Meanwhile gear clips with itself...

We shouldn't be surprised, your right, since this is their High Quality creations. This is also less impactful than long hair (Which, for this new dress, is the one thing it doesn't seem to clip horrifically with.)
In terms of obvious volume, they clearly needed to add another couple lalas to their assembly just to fit that suit, though.
I'm not sure if I'd find it humerous or outright horrifying if someone were to sketch out the physique necessary to make some of this game's hip-inflated clothes actually stay in place, if it's not just our character wearing some manner of mesh cage beneath the waistline.
