Square just announced a monster hunter world collaboration for 14. I'm so hyped!

I think this is the first collab that I can legitimately say I'm hyped over. Not just looking forward to it, but full on hyped.

And I normally hate using the word hyped...

I'm so excited for this. I know I have joked with my friends in both games about it (poining out the Notorious Monster Hunter title in xiv, friend putting "Praise Bahamut" in their info on World) but it was always nothing but a pipe dream. Seeing the palico walk out shook me to my core.

Potion emote is for sure. Palico minion is possible. But I want a Rathalos mount!!!

Eh. The Monster Hunter games have virtually no story and no real appealing characters beyond your kitty minions. It's just going to be us beating up slightly different looking monsters in FATES again, for particularly large and ugly weapons.

I never really get the love for that series. It's the poster child for "over complicated gameplay", even MHW and its attempts to simplify it.

In Monster Hunter World that's how your character consumes a potion or any item that you need to drink, sans the thumbs up (though in older games you would stop and /flex after finishing).

heh...or they could just stick the monsters in Eureka, because the idea of Eureka is really close to the idea of MHW (both are exploring an unknown island to find out what exactly happened or is happening there.) And eureka itself is kind of like a MH zone.

...please let me be wrong. That's the first thing I thought of when you said "lvl 70 requirement" and it would be perfect timing to shore it up.

That potion emote just looked like the standard emote we automatically use when eating certain liquid foods in game. The only difference from what I can tell right now is the drinking sound and the thumbs up emote thing which we already have(?) In our emote listings. And if not, still looked really cheap, no offense. Wss just hoping something more...original with that emote...

Other than that I'm excited for the collaboration event! Even if it's just fate hunting I'll still enjoy it for the story. Especially since I've been meaning to but Monster Hunter for awhile. ^^ I throughly enjoyed the mini cross over missions in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker! :D

From what I can tell we're getting at least an emote and probably a minion. Oh and it's probably going to be FATEs again. I mean be realistic would you honestly expect anything else? lol....

From what I can see the encounter is scripted both in the appearance of the Palico, and the Rathalos attack, this is an instanced trial closer to Battle for big Bridge. SE's micro site also makes very clear if you want to participate be lvl 70 be past Stormblood msq, as fates are low level and leveling content no this will not be a fate, pay attention to the number of players using the emote, there are 8, 2 tanks, 2 healers 4 dps the base setup for a hard mode trial from the Duty finder. Fates are not involved, low level players are not involved to all indications a specific script is being followed so open world is not involved. Those claiming fates have been debunked.

It might be more then just fates since you have to level to 70. If it was just fates it could be done at a much lower lvl.

It requires level 70 and to have completed the entire Stormsblood MSQ for access.

Also based on the trailer it looks like it's in the same arena that the DRG level 70 fight is in so I don't think this is just a FATE and actually going to be a high-tier instance.

I definitely don't think this will be fates after watching the trailer again. Looks like an 8 man trial with Rathalos. Probably will be story rewards then you can get more stuff fighting it again and again.

Uh, pretty sure the animation for consuming potions is just your character throwing it up into the air over themselves, not chugging it like you see in the trailer (which resembles the MH animation)

Certain food buffs, if not in combat do have you drink it (Namely, any liquids), so it's not unreasonable to assume that potions would work the same way. It's not exactly the same as what was shown in the trainer (It's just a single drink for what I usually use), but I can see it being called similar.

While I am super excited to fight a Rathalos in XIV, I can't help but wonder if this crossover goes both ways. Whos up for fighting a Tempered Bahamut in World maybe?

Me!!!! I'm buying Montser Hunter World not only because of the collaboration event but because I've wanting it for awhile now but kept forgetting to buy it (Pokemon distractions >u>;;;). If the event goes both ways I will trade my blood in exchange for the game in order to fight Bahamut and kick his ass to get my special Bahamut made gear for the event (I assume if they did have that fight in MHW). ^^
