Technical support issue. Orrrr Xbox controllers just suck.
Lol I don't think it's the controllers fault. It worked during beta 2 or 3, but stopped working in the open beta.
FF shouldn't be tainted by Xbox.
/the end
In all seriousness, no clue, but I think this should go under the technical section so you can get proper help. If you want well formulated and articulate responses that would further you in your search for epic truthiness.
Not a fix, however if you:
a)turn off the controller in the background option in xiv config.
b)run xiv in windowed mode, not full screen.
c)make sure xiv is not the active application when you go afk.
d)turn the controller back on before making xiv the active application again.
You will not have that issue. It's a pain of a workaround, but the only one I have found sofar.
FYI, I do think it is more of a controller issue. I have the same issue in Vent (I have my push to talk mapped to my controller as well).
I'm not sure it's applicable, but I use a wired 360 controller and I've never had this problem.
Far from ideal, but another work around is if you have the play and charge kit, you can plug the charging cable into the controller when you go afk. The controller won't turn off while its plugged in. Then when you come back just unplug and play.
Hopefully they address this issue at some point. I've read various threads about this issue and people have spoken highly about a logitech wireless controller (don't remember which model off hand) that will still work after the controller falls asleep. So it seems to be some issue with the Xbox controller specifically and not wireless controllers in general.
No way around it. Basicly its the same if your using a wired controller. You unplug it and the game wont recognize if if you plug it back in. You have to shut down the software. Thats why I dont use a wireless. Go pick up the $20 madcatz(wired) from walmart. Its a really nice controller. Cant beat the price either.
Hello everyone
Can someone tell me how I can use my wireless 360 controller to play ff14? Thank you ^^ I think I've searched Google in the past with no luck
I'll reply as because i see you around on palamecia^^ I use the wirless 360 to play and all i did was configure it in the FFXIV config outside of the game and presto it works. Make sure to plug in the wireless adpater blah blah and it should either work right off or it will install the drivers for it to work, hit the big 360 button in middle to point it connects to wireless adapter and it should work. Also you can test it out in the XIV config before you launch the game.
PS make sure you enable the controller in the config of XIV also
I'll have to try alt-tabbing out when I go afk, Thanks.
Also if you already own a Xbox 360 wireless controller and just need the adapter for your PC, you can find them cheap on ebay.
Ah okay thanks ^^
Are you talking about your Xbox wireless? Or one that you picked up that is specificly made for PC?
I tried to use my 360 controller a couple years ago(using the charging cord plugged into USB), but it never worked.
I went to best buy and for $60 bucks you get one that has a wireless adapter that plugs into the USB. But for the above mentioned reasons...I switched over to corded and never looked back.
Hi Joshua. Just letting you know it's a design of the wireless gamepad itself as this issue can occur in Vindictus, Dynasty Warriors 6, Warriors Orochi Z, and when using Pinnacle GameProfiler for application-specific settings.
And I thank you for creating this thread as I may have inadvertently used a workaround and wondered why the gamepad was working when I came back.
IF your really concerned about the controller disconnecting while it sleeps contact Square Enix about it....there is also a lengthy thread about this in the Japan forums.....
Because I exclusively use this controller for all my games and FF I sent SE a ciustomer complaint on it, many have said
that it did work initially but it's probably something that they changed in the FF Config program they just need to fix it.
All the games, yes ALL the games that I play you can reconnect the Pad by just pressing the X...except for this game, it's very annoying.
