The fact that we are nearly two weeks since the patch and servers went down for emergency maintenance twice during that time and this still hasn't been fixed is mind blowing. I ended up having to rebuy an accessory because I got an augmented piece for the wrong set due to this. Since I've warned every single caster/healer I know to be check the classes listed for the acc and to ignore the name altogether.
Hey sorry! I wasn't here! ‘xD
I thought after Ungarmax fiasco there was a vow to investigate all player reports.
Why would you post in this wasteland instead of the actual bug report folder? And in so doing, why not check adjacent folders to see if it's a bug that has been reported already.
Wasteland, in the sense that this isn't where you go to get dev attention.
You'd think people would "READ" the forum board index and descriptions prior to posting.
Very strange.
I really don't understand how someone pointing out something and being helpful towards informing others deserves the random ire and spite of people on the forum. Since when have we've become so cynical that we respond with passive aggressive comments over a bug/glitch that the devs and localization team missed, and in turn take it out on the poor poster?
It's a known bug, luckly they give back the items if you screw up by getting wrong ring.
If you want a dev to respond, try the JP forums. I haven’t seen a dev response in the EN forums in over a year. I get the strong feeling after the hard is fun heavensward incidents that they are going to silently ignore us. They probably think that the EN forums are incoherent complaining and don’t even bother to try and figure it out. That or there afraid to respond to any of the EN posts out of fear that it will be twisted or misunderstood. Either way, there not here, it’s just us and the language moderators.
It doesn't matter where you post the information at, they won't read it, or they don't care either way, it's still fuxed and caused me to have to buy both damn rings and waste my tomes/gil in order to get what I needed.
They don't read our posts, obviously.
Also worth noting since we're on the topic, that since the augmented items are acquired from an NPC and not crafted, you can no longer advanced meld them.
This means if you had a nicely pentamelded 350 ring and decided to Augment to 360 and re-meld, you're getting a downgrade. This is particularly true for tanks.
Letting people know is a good thing. This might be helpful for those who were still not aware, and it's great that you care enough to share the knowledge.
But
For future reference (to both the OP and any people reading this that aren't aware):
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forum.php
If you go on the main forum page, on the right side there's a Dev Tracker, which has official comments from the dev team. The issue you mentioned was addressed there.
Also for future reference, bugs should be filed in the bug reports section. You're more likely to get it addressed there (though make sure you check on your thread every once in a while because they like to "close" bug reports for not having enough information - at which point you'll need to recreate the thread with the new information added)
Keep on reporting issues you find and making ff14 a better place :)
