Agreed. I asked the group I was with the other day if I could have the healer belt, you know since I WAS a healer and needed to replace my old 340 one, but the crappy red mage (Who barely hit 35k HP and died a good two dozen times) replied with 'but i need it to'.
Barely outrolled them, but I shouldn't have to worry about a terrible DPS being able to get something I actively needed/could use instantly/actually came for.
I'd greatly rather them have it the way IT USED TO BE, because whoever thought this was a good idea needs a good hit on the head by a washpan. -

People still want glams, new players still want and need to get upgrades...never mind how the loot in the game was designed for a need/greed/pass trinity.
