Do animations make you like a certain job?

Like do you favor certain job because of it's animations? I think MNK animations are cool, even though I think they could be better. Snap Punch sucks though:cool:

Animations make me hate Machinist pre-Heated skills, its so boring see yours skills where even your character screams are louder xD

Animations def help. Talking about MCH, I was finding the class very “meh” when levelling, but once you get the “heated version”, wow what a difference, made it feel more fluid, more powerful.

So yes animations do help you liking more or less a class.

Animations were the reason I picked up DRK during HW. I didn't play the game a ton back then, but it made me slog through 80+ ARR MSQ quests on my WHM to unlock it.

I miss my class-specific rampart, though. :c

Yes, and sounds too.

I can't play BLM or WHM (used to, no longer) because the motions are too heavy, and I don't like the boulder sounds WHM makes. And while RDM has very swift animations, the weight of their spell casting feels similar to BLM/WHM (understandably so), so I couldn't get into RDM either. I like movement that feels lighter/swifter most of the time like AST & BRD, but there are some exceptions like DRK (I think the weight of their sword animations is really cool) but I find that as more a display of physical strength like MNK (monk feels really solid to me, but swift), which I find really cool. I also liked Dragoon, but I couldn't keep playing it because there were some sounds for moves I really didn't like. It's a funny quirk, I know. So far, I have only been able to will myself to play AST, BRD, and DRK past level 50.

As for the actual sparkly/imagery of the animations beyond body, I really love Monk's & DRK's the most but I don't play Monk. XD I think AST, and SCH have my next favourite animations and I don't mind their sounds either. I like DRK's & BRD's sounds the best.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever really thought about it. Then again, I main healers instead of DPS and besides AST, SCH and WHM are pretty boring animation wise, so its never really bothered me any.
Though I will confess: nothing pleases me more than, as a monk, jumping from somewhere high and doing that ground punching animation. The one where the earth cracks all under your feet? God that's so nerdy and satisfying.

RDM is aesthetic.

No, because I'm actually more focused on the boss, the area (to check for aoe's and such) and the party frames, mostly the other tank and when I need to use my utility (PLD here).


Couldn't care less about animations and when you're doing 24 man raids you don't really see much in all that clutter mess anyway.

Gear/weapons sure... animations no...

Not animations but concepts. I liked the concept of Paladin, Scholars and Red Mages, and rolled with them. Their gear is beautiful too. :o

It's my first motive to play every job. I did skip MCH, it demands animations remake.

I thought about picking up PLD cause I love the animation of their lvl 70 skill. But seeing all the pressure put on tanks to not only tank but to dps as well, I decided not to. It would end up giving me an anxiety attack.

definitely, that's why I "main" heal as AST and despite my inexperience with melee I play SAM a lot. the latter especially because I'm a Japanophile aka shameless weeb xD (no seriously when will the new dogi have a lvl 1 version for glam? i need to fulfill my Shinsengumi cosplay)
