"Who do you rez?"

After doing about 3 different extreme primal fights with 7 different parties and wiping a lot, I\\'ve noticed healers have some bias Res choices. If all DPS are dead who do you Res first?

Obviously Red Mage or summoner

Then to those who don\\'t have brink of death if non apply then either MCH BRD or MNK

Then DRG

And a three way bottom tie between NIN, BLM and SAM
(If I have a party with these dps only then I\\'d do NIN, SAM then BLM)

Then ignore those who\\'ve died a lot if there are better players who got unlucky but that\\'s how I Res

I usually go in this general order of priority...

(1) Other main Healer - unless both tanks are dead then main tank first
(2) Main Tank
(3) Any other classes that can also raise
(4) Everyone else

If you're on the bottom of the list you may not get a raise immediately if something important is happening I need to keep people alive for or i'm running low on mana and waiting on cool downs for my mana recovery skills.

Tank's Healers tend to get #1 slot on my list...depends on the situation.

For DPS's - I'll raise those who can raise others (course most these days don't even do that) - then ill raise DPS roles that are likely to be most useful in the situation...then everyone else.

It tends to be a "learn as you go" type mindset.

Same applies as red mage...although I'll usually get the "next" guy after the healer unless its a high stress/panic as i can raise faster than they can.

But you get the idea.

I do it like this:

1. Main Tank (if they die)
2. Secondary healer
3. Good DPS player (sometimes this is my focus more than the other healer if they are failing a lot)
4. Bad DPS player

when both tanks are dead then i raise a tank first, so he can grab the boss.
then people who can raise, especially healers.
then people who can give me mana, so bards and machinist, except my mana is full (but i don't think it is, when so many people are dead)
depending on situation i raise a melee first, so he can use LB or just push some dps. for example when the boss is in his last %
people who already have weakness have a lower priority, because they don't offer much to the party with that double weakness debuff.

Tanks > Healers > SMN/RDM > Other DPS > That one guy who always dies to that mechanic despite it happening like three times now and he really should know how it works by now.

It's always "Tank, Healer, ranged DPS (eg RDM, SMN, then BLM BRD and MCH), then Melee"

The logic being, the tank will take any hate from you, so you can heal them back up, and then buy you enough time to rez the co-healer who should then immediately try to rez rdm or smn, etc. So you get a chain of rez's if everyone has swiftcast up.

Either whoever has been dead the longest/died the least, or if the other healer raised someone first then I raise whoever is furthest away from who they raised in the party list.

Depends lot fight and mechanic. If there is tank swap, or mechanic demand second tank or if both tanks are dead then tank is first priority. In general healer is second priority because they can ress more players and keep players alive. For dps players SMN/RDM is good choice so they can help ress more players, but mch/bard can be better choice too if refresh is up and healers need fast mana for healing. Then priority is mainly one who usually can stay alive and last priority is players that constantly die and fail mechanics.

I'll actually bypass the other healer sometimes if I feel like getting another player up who has access to raise would be more valuable. Sometimes your co-healer is honestly a potato and the SMN/RDM who died to say, a failed healing check and not any major fault of their own, is a better priority.

Heck, sometimes I'll just raise my BF (MCH) so he can give me MP and just finish the encounter as the solo healer. Sometimes trying to keep the other healer up out of politeness is more taxing on the run than it's worth, sorry to say.

When I have the ability to res:

1. Healer
2. Tank
3. DPS that can res
4. Whoever I click on first(melee DPS if the boss is at less than 10% HP as we can usually finish it without worry - NOTE this works mostly only in dungeons as raid/trial bosses can still easily wipe you)

1. Tanks to reestablish defense/hate.
2. Healer to continue backing up/main healing.
3. SMN/RDM because of their ability to raise and save myself and other healer MP.
4. BRD/MCH so main party has someone who can restore MP/TP when needed. Especially for the Tanks and Healers.
5. All others go last because they are an after thought compared to the rest above unless they are the only ones left to raise for some reason.

My priority:
- Main tank if dead
- co-healer
- Rezmage/SMN
- The rest

Priority:
-Main tank
-Co-healer
-Other tank
-Red Mage/SMN
-The DPS who aren't constantly standing in the bad.
-Maybe the ones who have died five times. Maybe. Depends if they're learning or if leaving them down is better on MP management.

I don't play a healer but as a SMN my priority is similar:
- No tank rez MT
- Healer/healers
- Off tank
- SMN/Red Mage
- Remaining DPS I usually leave to the healers

Why would you raise a summoner? Most of the time, they don't have the MP to raise someone else when they're done summoning their pet again.

I'll raise (the hell is rez?) whoever is going to contribute the most in the next few moments.

Summoning a pet is only 1200 MP. Aetherflow gives back 10% of maximum MP. MP also rebuilds at a reasonable pace. I usually have enough to raise someone pretty quickly after being raised myself. If there is a need to raise and Swiftcast is up I do that before summoning my pet. Should a Red Mage be prioritized over a SMN maybe as they can throw heals too. The thing is having a player up who can raise is a safety net for the healers and in many cases that is more important than the lost damage due to dead DPS only players.

It depends on the situation normally as a SMN...
1. Healers unless both tanks are dead
2. Then whatever class can Rez or BRD/MCH if MP for both healers are bottomed out
3. Everybody else for everyone else I prioritize range dps for some kind of Mana gain for healers then melee dps
But it's so dependent on the situation

Why would you kick BLM to the bottom? Give us like 5 seconds and we can Mana Shift you a pile of MP as thanks.

Huh? Lol I have enough to raise someone and summon my pet...do you even Summoner

Priority is main tank > co healer > off tank > Everyone else.

SMN and RDM do not get next priority for simply being capable of raising. DPS players get priority based on who I have had to heal the least. If all four are down, I may very well use LB3 if its up. They're not going to need it.

This is also not set in stone. An example would be I know the fight and my co healer and the OT are down, but the upcoming phase requires the OT to pull a strong add. So I will raise the OT, then my co healer.

Truth be told, there is no priority list. It's entirely based on the situation. But my above list is basically the default if I am unfamiliar with the instance.

Why raise BLM absolutely last when they have free mana shift to refund their raise?

I'm just going to ding this. Meaning this is the same for me. Typically I wait on swiftcast to be up though because I have failed runs because the other healer decides to cast res over keeping people alive that are already.

Rez the right member is one thing but I’m more concerned about accepted rez at the right time.
Since most ppl don’t read the situation and accept rez right of the bat just to get AOEed to death again....

Indeed. I have made this mistake when I don't know the fight. But once you know it you can delay the res till after a big aoe or something unavoidable. Some might think you're not there but it is better to pay attention to what is going on or knowing the fight well.

No one since if people are dying that much it is probably a lost cause, sooner the fight ends sooner I can leave.

main tank > other healer > off tank> SMN/RDM>BRD/MCH>BLM>everything else.

But like many have said. If the off tank and other healer are dead along with everyone else and its just you and the main tank. Unless you have lb3, most often its a lost cause

I tend to prioritize having the requesite number of each role up primarily.

Like if we don't need an OT for anything in the near future dead tanks drop to the bottom of the barrel. If we are looking at a big heal check I'll prioritize healers. During an add phase I will pick up dps. I'll usually make sure at least one tank and one healer is up and go from there since there is no fight I can think of where that isn't a good bottom line.

In a vacuum it is more or less based on percieved competence. If you're dying to mechs constantly I'm not wasting the last of my mp on you even if you are a tank/healer because I don't have a limitless supply of MP especially on RDM and I'm not crippling my own dps for the sake of raising someone that wants to take a nap. If I have less than 4.5k mp on RDM and we have a tank and (remotely competent) healer up I'm likely raising no one unless Lucid is off CD soon.

I 100% understand this is antecdotal on my part but I have been mana shifted by so few BLMs it almost doesn't cross my mind anymore. I don't expect it. I understand it's because it's a dps loss for them but it still doesn't explain to me the startling lack of use here.

Trick question. Don't Raise. That's RDM/SMN's job.

edit: Also, definitely never the other healer because they might steal your LB.

As a Red Mage, my rez priorities are as follows:

1. Healer(s)
2. Tank(s)
3. DPS capable of rezzing (SMN/ RDM)
4. Everyone else

Depending on if I'm the only one up with healing capabilities, I'll also forgo all DPS and focus on healing the tank (or the tank consistently taking the most damage) until the healer(s) are up & running.

Depends for me. If the other healer/DPS just dies all the time I stop rezzing them and focus on solo healing.
With dps I usually rez the BRD/MCH first for MP if there's no SMN/RDM,

Allow me to apologize on behalf of those thoughtless BLMs. When i get a res, first thing i do is wait a second or two to see if im going to get a heal that ends my res-invulnerable buff(if im not, i need to make sure i do the next thing at a safe moment). Then B3 on the enemy to get all my mana back(2 server ticks). Then mana shift whoever threw me the res. Then flow cleanly into my DPS rotation and try not to die again. At that moment the shift is free, as 2 server ticks with UI3 gives me more then 100% of my mana back and im just about to start in on DPS again so it isnt throwing off my rotation(just delaying it by half a second).

I do healer first > red mage / summoner > and then whoever has been dead the longest and/or the closest/most accessible from my position depending upon circumstances, so long as they didn't keep messing around. Sometimes I will also favour the red mage/summoner who has been helping rez most frequently as not all will/do.



I noticed my companion does healer > then tank > then random DPS (I don't remember them prioritising summoner/healer, but I could be wrong)

Usually goes
1- tank if boss is running loose
2- if one tank and healer dead, raise healer then tank
3- if all dps dead start from top to bottom in my priority list with the exeption that if i notice a dps doing really good he/she get priority over the other dps.
4- also if i notice a pattern with my co-healer i will just follow it. example he/she start raising ppl from the top of the list then i will start from the botton of the list to raise.

Most of the time smn/rdm dont raise at all so no point in getting them first than the other dps.
