Centurio tiger trouble and general achievement struggles

I am kind of disappointed by the way SE has handled the hunts and the achievements connected to them. from the start of 4.0 I have been trying to get the Centurio tiger but the way the hunts spawn and the speed at which they die it feels impossible to get the 2000 S rank and 3000 A rank hunts.

I get that its should be a reward, but some of us just don't have the time to grind for 24 hours, 7 days a week for at least half a yeah of nonstop grinding. I want that tiger but I just can't farm for it, and this doesn't just go for for this achievement but a lot of others as well.

I am curious as to what other people think about the overly extreme achievement requirements. Should some of them change or could locking the items behind achievement be able to be get in a different manner? We did get the achievement currency, maybe that could be used?

the centurio tiger was meant for people that have been farming hunts since they were introduced in ARR. if you think you can just want it from starting from 4.0... well you need to rethink that. lol

i just don't understand why they increase drop rates for mounts and make them easier accessible on the one side and then introduce these heavily gatet mounts on the other side.

i am still salty about Fenrir. i worked really hard to get the 1 mio MGP together and now you can get that within a few weeks of half assed challenge log and now another bonus through the fashion report...

why are some mounts, wich were introduced as super rare and as a reward for people who invest a lot of time nerfed, so that almost everyone can get them easily now? why are other mounts not nerfed? why are they bringing mounts as pvp rewards wich only a few hundred people will ever get?

either nerf everything and make it accessible for everyone or nothing!

It is a bit over the top, but who says you have to farm it all off the bat? Take your time with it, farm here and there. You don't have to go hardcore grind on it.. Plus you get centurio seals and tomes for high level gear. Its worth it to farm, honestly it can be much but its an achievement that takes time. I don't mind working hard for it. Although, the S rank achievement shouldn't be so high but thats my opinion, not a fact.

Honestly, Fenrir is still annoying as hell to get unless you have no job and do not go to school. I see no issue with his rarity, and I don't really think its a big deal if its a tiny bit easier to get it.

Is it really that annoying though? Clearing the weekly challenge log for gold saucer is worth 70k MGP. An 80+ point fashion report is another 60k. Thats less then 4 hours of game time over the course of a week(entering 20 + winning 10 chocobo races being the challenges that take the longest). And in addition to that 130k, youd also win 10-20k from the GATES you entered, probly and another 1kish from the triad matches you won. Thats approaching 150k without considering your earnings from the chocobo races(the people with highly rated birds basically say its the most efficient way to farm MGP), without counting any mini-cactpot earnings, without considering the possibility of a decent jumbo cactpot score, and disregarding any verminion/triad tournaments you might enter and cash in. Sounds like 30 mins(or less) a night could turn into a million MGP mount in less then a months time.

With that said, i have no issue with its rarity. Someone dedicated can get it in a hurry, anyone at all who wants it can get it over time at their own pace.

At such a pace, you will be waiting literal years to ever obtain this mount. The way S ranks work, you're essentially punished for having a life outside the game. If five S ranks spawn while you're at work/school, well, too bad. Now you have to wait 72 hours and hope you're around once their window opens. Most people aren't necessarily bothered by the grind, but the complete lack of control. You don't see complaints regarding Astrope because you can "take your time."

Not when they have a yearly event that doubles MGP. That essentially nerfs progression for a week, making him much easier. I only spent 10ish hours over the course of two weeks spamming Gold Saucer games and got 700,000 MGP. With the addition of Fashion Report, you're particularly swimming in it.

Regardless, like Astrope, you can work towards Fenrir at your own pace. Busy this weekend? Grind during the week instead. You cannot do that with hunts because there's a good chance S ranks won't be available.

A person devoted (completely devoted) can do it in 5-7 months.

But most people it takes years to complete. I can't think of why an achievement would need the majority of people to have started during ARR to be completed.

But that's not even the worse ones.

Some people, like me, are achievement hunters who'll want an achievement regardless of rewards. This makes the leve achievements require even longer. Limited at new 6 allowance per day (and making sure never to cap them beyond the 100 limit) makes doing 500 GC leves x 3, 5000 battle craft leves, 5000 trade craft leves, 5000 fieldcraft leves, a total of 16,500 leves for a whopping 7.5 years. Who thought that was a reasonable idea? Maybe if there was a way to buy more allowances....

By contrast the MGP achievements & mounts can be farmed at all times if a person reallllly wants to keep playing minigames.

Let's say you "nolife" the 2000S achievement. There are like 29 or 30 S atm, some have serious spawn conditions like weather/moon/treasuremaps or other high rng. Those S mobs will not be spawned on cooldown. Most cooldowns are between 2 and 3 days. Maybe your server manages to spawn 50-60 a week, still need to be there every time online. Makes a number like 40 or lower much more realistic.

That would mean 160 in a month and after 1 year it would be almost 2000. If these achievements would have existed since release, there would be more people now with the mount, but they introduced them very late...

It is a video game, and that achievement is like another joke in the series, next to 1000 astralogos wins, 5000 levequests, 1million jumbo MGP winner (takes like 25years if you do not hit the jackpot)...
With SE decision to not touch the hunt system for years, I have high doubt many new player will even try it or that there will be nerfs in the future. I only could see a nerf with like 2-3 more addons, having like 50 S ranks to spawn, but who knows how many people will still play it and spawn S mobs for hours each day lol.

And lets not forget there is another achievement for 5000 S. Only a soul not familiar with hunting or some satan could create these.

There will be always people who will defend it, but guys...again... its a video game... its not your whole life. High goals are fine and all but damn...

I have an excellent network of hunt linkshells, and I still only manage a handful of S kills a week. I have accepted that it will be years before I get my tiger, if at all. I console myself with the assertion that it's just a plain ol' tiger, there's really nothing fancy about it, and if I never get it, I'll be okay with my way funner mounts, like my glowy Scooty Puff Jr.

That being said, I wouldn't cry if the S-rank requirement was halved, or even quartered, even if they did it the day after I get my 2000th kill, because I wouldn't want anyone else to suffer so.

I'm currently 75 kills away from my tiger after about nine months of serious S ranking.

Taking advantage of the zone instancing and frequent maintenance during early SB gave me a rather big boost in my kill count, and I make it note to actively try to spawn the hunts so as to not miss out on them due to "early" pulling and what not.

Still, I think it would be nice to make the achievement more accessible by increasing how often S ranks appear, not necessarily reducing the the number of kills needed.

This is exactly my issue too! The fact that you also need to do the (L) leves to get the unique leve achievements too makes it even worse! because that's 1650 leve allowances but only 165 towards leve progress!

I'm kicking myself for all those days I was sat at cap ;-;

Getting 12 leves a day would be a great improvement because at least the game has been out for 4 years but even then I'd want to say that 2 years to get an achievement reliant on a time gating should be the maximum length of time for any reasonable human-being.

I want them to remove the "1 million MGP from Jumbo Cactpot" requirement from the High Roller meta achievement. I have every other achievement required for the High Roller title, except that one, and I doubt I will ever get it.

Pretty much the only way to get 1 million MGP from the Jumbo Cactpot in a reasonable amount of time is to actually win first prize, which is only a 1 in 10,000 chance, 3 times per week. To put this in perspective, if you bought all three Jumbo Cactpot tickets every week (playing different numbers on each ticket), then your chances of winning first prize once within the next 20 years would be only 27%.

The consolation prize is only about 250 MGP per ticket, so it would take 4000 tickets (25 years worth) to meet the requirements that way.

All the other achievements for high roller can be gotten with enough time and effort, even the corresponding mini-cactpot one. But making us win the Jumbo Cactpot is just unfair.

This is why I'm such an advocate for being able to work on rewards on your own time, at your own pace. Whether it's wolf collars for hellhounds (or in time, the armor and chair) or a special type of hunt book for Centurio seals that goes toward the purchase of the tiger, if I can't always get to an S rank (on account of having, you know...a job and family that come first), at least this way I can work toward it.
