Duty finder : always getting the same thing

So first of all, I would like to apologize if I created this thread in the wrong forum (I thought here would be the best place), and if another thread like this already exists but I didn't find anything like it.

So please feel free to tell me if this thread needs to be moved or removed.

Now onto the subject at hand :

So maybe it is just me but does anybody goes through the same bosses / dungeons / raids when they use duty finder ?

When I choose leveling roulette, it's always Snowcloack, Copperbel or Aurum Vale (argh). When I choose trials, it's Titan, Leviathan, Ramuh or Bismark and when I choose raids, it's always Syrcus or WOD.

Now I understand that there's always a chance I will get one of those things I listed but I'm getting tired of going through them, despite liking doing them and helping new players or being with a nice party.

I would like if the RNG could get me something I haven't done in a long time or something I never did.

What about you people ?

DFR70: Hell's Lid Roulette

basically there's reasons for some of them: Minions. For the ones that don't have minions it's bad luck to keep getting them

I always get Toto-Rak. /Always/. To the point it's my least favorite dungeon and I can run it in my sleep. If I never see that dungeon again I will sincerely die happy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but its only RNG if the whole party/alliance is using DF, otherwise it will fill in the gaps for people who have queued for specific dungeons. which means Toto-rak and satasha are really common because people are leveling a new class, and sycrus/WOD because people are trying to get lvl50 to 60 and don't have access to any higher dungeons

You do seem to go through phases of the same thing. I once got Garuda for levelling 6days straight. Currently on 4 days for hells lid on ex

Something you have to keep in mind whenever doing anything random in this game: if the probability is not 0% or 100%, there are no guarantees.

Some duties will pop more often because more people are queuing for those specific duties and the roulettes serve the purpose of filling in as needed.

For fully random roulettes, you might feel like you're getting the same thing over and over, but there are thousands of other people doing roulettes each day, and those people are seeing duties that you might not be. Lack of apparent randomness does not equate to a lack of actual randomness.

It depends on what you have unlocked and available. If you queue for Alliance on a sub 60 job or without having done the quests to get Void Ark/Mhach/Dun Scaith, you'll be getting a lot of Crystal Tower because it can't give you anything else. My friends and I tend to call that one "Labyrinth of the Ancients roulette" because of how often it comes up.

They're all like that. Trial gets a lot more options once you unlock things like the Warring Triad, all of which are optional, to give it more options for you to get. But the basic MSQ ones come up a lot because anyone doing the MSQ now will need them and they'll get others to help fill the party out.

Expert only has two, so RNG could easily give you the same one five times in a row.

Back when I was first leveling my WAR I got Cutter's Cry for Leveling Roulette for almost a month straight. Started to hate that dungeon, though I got good at soloing the majority of the last boss in there(this was pre-4.3)

There are a couple of things that can affect the Roulette ;

Dungeons unlocked by all party members;

Someone on queue for a specific dungeons. If someone is doing daily and a member is on queue to make sure they get a dungeon that will affect it. Kind of why people get same dungeon multiple times. If you experiment with a pre set group you will see different dungeons at random. Did some testing and different ones not duplicates as if we were going at it individually.

You know, I wonder if SE couldn't do something to help address this, nonetheless. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to track how often a given instance had been run over the past week, and give additional weight to the less-common options for 'pure-RNG' groups (i.e. those comprised entirely of people who queued via Roulette). It's possible they do this already, of course, but if not, it'd be easy enough to implement.

I hate hell's lid because of this. All.the.freaking.time.it's.hell.lid!!!! So sick of that place that I'm just gonna stop using the rout. and pick the other kooler dungeon in expert instead. Seriously what's wrong with Fractal? It's like the BEST. Hell's Lid can go jump off and kiss rocks. >:O

your going to get hell's lid way more often because people are solo queuing it to get the weasel minion
I'm sure the reason for other roulettes is similar, only takes one person pre-60 to force the whole alliance into one of the crystal tower raids for instance

same for getting level 50 primals, only takes 1 person at 50-53 to make that the only option for the whole raid. Sub-60 your still looking at 6 ARR primals vs 2 heavensward ones at best.

level 70 gets the one that has a mount and a music worth like 1M for obvious reasons

why snowcloak seems to be so common is actually a mystery to me though

People like to juke Alliance Raid roulette by removing gear so they can only land in ARR raids.

first relic dungeon for HW relics I think.

A lot of this has to do with a great deal of dungeons not being unlocked through the msq. New players often skip unlocking them unintentionally so you tend to see the same handful of lvl 50 and 60 dungeons over and over.

Some trials are also not part of the msq. I can't remember the last time I got Odin or the Warring Triad in a trial roulette. Probably before last Halloween. Don't think I did Zurvan at all since HW.

Hell's Lid has a minion and is also known to be the most time efficient instance if you want to farm mendacity tomestones. So this is likely why players usually end up there.

None of this bothers me. What bothers me is when I get something like Sastasha normal when everyone in the instance is well above that in class lvl. I was in there last week and everyone was lvl 50+. I'm okay with doing it if someone actually needs it to lvl a new class or for msq...but good god don't dump a bunch of high lvl players in it. It's needless boredom.

Snowcloak is also an MSQ dungeon (as is Keeper of the Lake) so people need to run it more than a lot of the 50/60 dungeons.

(I just wish it had better music. Music makes such a difference to the enjoyability of a dungeon, and I find Snowcloak's very nothingy and tedious.)

It could definitely do with some sort of level-scaling check and limit the roulette to X levels below the lowest party member.

Would be nice to have a button to force rng to not take the dungeons of yesterday roulettes.

My friends and I got snowcloak for 5 days in a row....Sometimes twice a day if I do my mentor.
Idk, we even went 4 of us with lvl60-70 jobs and well geared to see if we would have something "els" and we still had that dungeon.....We are getting crazy xD
