Which one do you prefer to play as and why?

prefer to play myself or prefer to have in my group?
because i really like to play WHM, but would prefer to have AST / SCH in my party xD
Im a sch because I have always loved the tool kit. My preferred co healer is a whm, not sure when or why but ast is not doing it for me, thats just a personal preference tho.
I definitely prefer white mage (its my main) over the others. AST is fun to play with the cards and I don't like playing as SCH at all, though I'm able to manage pretty well on the very rare times I've done so.
I like the straightforward: you take damage, I heal it, of WHM. Plus holy spam of course.
I do prefer to have SCH or AST as a cohealer since they have abilites I don't.
SCH is my number one, followed by WHM. I used to love AST but am bored by it now.
I used to play SCH since thats what I was in FFXI even though they're radically different, but immediately jumped ship to be an AST the second I saw it. I love it's lore, it's abilities and visuals (glamours and cast aesthetics). I love buffing and enfeebling, I wish we had more though.
As cohealer if i'm with a sch I feel I have to pick up some slack on healing or do it faster since they're usually DPSing with occasional shields which is fine, and the fairy can only heal so much.
The reverse of that is with a WHM I can dps and focus on buffs/cards since I know they'll straight keep the HP up.
SCH is fun to play (but I'm yet low level with it) and I hadn't tried enough with AST. But my go-to healer is WHM because it is safer, because its heals potencies and flexibility that allow me to deal with any situation. I have an option even when all party is low on HP and I have and the boss is casting a tank buster.
As a co-healer, I like Eos. She cures often, have an AoE regen that stacks with Medica II and makes her pet DPS (the SCH) to stop DPS'ing for a GCD to shield. Selene is also good.
WHM, because i'm a purist. I prefer something that does what it does as good as possible in a straight forward manner, without extra gimmicks and utilities. That's also why i still carry an MP3 player, handheld gaming consoles and so on instead of just a smartphone, i just prefer specialized stuff over a jack-of-all-trades.
WHM. It just feels more fluid and reliable to play honestly. SCH has some truly ridiculous oGCD heals that are up almost everytime you need them, but I like knowing I always have an option of heavy healing without limitation.
I'm also a big fan of DPSING as a healer, and WHMs raw power is pretty great whwn it comes to this.
My boy SCH is in the lead ;)
AST, but if I want to contribute to a party more I'd go SCH or WHM...mostly SCH
ironically, WHM was my first healer before HW xD
I prefer healing as WHM anyday anytime. Very straightforward, strong heals plus multiples oh sht buttons that let me dps without being too worried in case things go wrong. This is important because I panic easily lol.
However, healing and supporting as AST feels much more satisfying. I love the tools AST can provide to the party. It also has dynamic and stunning animations, always a pleasure to look at. The class I pick when I'm in the mood to do more than healing.
I have not tried SCH because the pet system plus what it seems to me have many many buttons intimidates me a little.
SCH because I feel so powerful (both healing and damage) and have soooo many buttons that it just makes playing on the controller (PC controller player) as active as playing a fighting game!
AST 2nd because the cards almost give that same feel (almost)
WHM last because not enough button activity to keep me interested.
I reaaaaaaaally like pressing lots of buttons.
White Mage
Raw Power
Raw Damage
Massive amount of Resources for Healing (both in CDs and MP)
I love the ability to be able to perform well without needing too much input from other party members and have the ability to quickly patch up the party battleship after it got hit by several massive torpedoes.
WHM with AST just barely behind it. I want to like SCH, and on paper I do like it's kit a lot, but me and pet classes in MMOs don't get along well.
1. SCH
2. AST
3. WHM
Those AST cards are fun and effective, but lately I've been much preferring the SCH toolkit and playstyle. Having the option to position my little co-healer has proven extremely useful, and the abilities are so elegant.
That, and no-one ever stands in my damn Earthly Star.
I only care to play ast when I'm healing. I enjoy the card aspects of the job. Though frustrating at times I feel like I'm supporting my party more than if I was just contributing though dps. The fx of the abilities are also a big draw.
Sch is okay, I do enjoy playing it but maining smn through aar series, and 3.x I often get to caught up in dps as scholar. I'm also bad at making best use of my aetherflow. I've gotten better but still not confident.
Whm has been at lv40 I believe since the end of 3.5 I found it boring back then and even though it has gotten new ability and mechanics I just don't have any interest in lvling it.
Scholar, because it's the only one I've actually attempted to heal on.
This has shifted for me over time. I started with SCH on my healer alt, changed to AST with Heavensward, and went for WHM for Stormblood.
Right now I'm liking the toolkit of WHM, and I like that I am most powerful when I stay in melee for Holy, Assize, and Medica. It's not really a melee healer - but it lets me act almost like one.
I've always liked pets in game, as well as having to put in constant thought of situational decisions. The harder to wield effectively, the more fun!
I have chosen SCH, and I haven't reached level 70 content yet, but so far I have always preferred working with other ASTs !
I am the most comfortable with Scholar but I actually love all 3 healers equally. The play style feels very different for each of them even if many consider AST a clone. The cards and odd Healing Abilities force you to consider each fight differently than you would for SCH or WHM. Healing well with any of them is extremely satisfying but to be honest WHM lets you carry any group through anything and I respect that.
AST, hands-down. I do sub WHM as I like to be a little flexible as far as heals are concerned (I loath double AST compositions), but WHM is just a tad too boring for my tastes. Yes, I do enjoy the stronger DPS/MP-management on WHM (I'd rather do solo activities on WHM), but I much prefer the little randomness/decision-making that AST provides with its cards- it keeps healing from getting too monotonous.
To be honest, I've always been curious about trying out SCH but it was such a pain in ARR (and HW?) to reconfigure stats due to SMN being my then-main DPS that I've just always never given it a chance outside of PvP post-rework (where I hated it in Frontlines due to it feeling weaker than the other 2).
I prefer to play as Astrologian. I like the ability to be able to change up the gameplay and provide buffs with cards. Additionally it seems to be the one healer that I am good at. xD
Stones. Stones everywhere. WHM for days.
Hands down, Scholar. I am far more comfortable playing a mitigation healer as opposed to a purely reactive healer, and I find it far less stressful to play since the HP bars are more stable. I also love the fact that a large portion of my healing is not from direct healing spells, but rather effective use of tactical abilities. Even in Noct stance, an AST doesn't feel the same, since most of their healing is still done in a direct way more like WHM rather than with tactical play. As long as I have a good tank, I can go through an entire dungeon's trash without ever needing to cast a healing spell aside from casting an Adlo on the tank on the go between pulls. Whatever Adlo+Excog+fairy regen can't handle alone, a Lustrate will make up for. And even in boss fights, I rarely have to use any of the healing spells, but rather do most of the healing through buffed pet regens and the various aetherpact abilities.
Even though I main DPS with which one varying with expansion (2.0 BLM, 3.0 SMN, 4.0 RDM) my secondary job has always been SCH since it arrived in 2.0.
SCH by miles, with WHM being a close second. I've never gotten the hang of AST and I frankly just feel bored by it when I try to dip my toes back into the class.
I started as a White Mage, so I'll always love it the most. I've leveled up the other two to max but haven't played them enough yet to get a good feel for them. For this reason I prefer AST a bit more simply because of the unique card aesthetic and because I've played a bit more of AST compared to SCH recently. I'll have to play more SCH to form a real opinIon but I always default to WHM whenever I heal lol.
From just normal day to day things and dungeons I like AST but for raids WHM.
WHM is my main, although I'm starting to learn SCH, and I just unlocked AST recently, and that one seems really different to use, so I might mess around with that one for now.
WHM because it is by far the least clunky.
I can say pretty much the same thing :) I mained WHM, started to learn SCH and after unlocking AST i was interested in that too. I was switching hence and forth for like two weeks but i stick with AST for now for its universality since im playing with PUGs and the card system is quite interesting. If i will join some raid team i may focus on what is needed though.
WHM. I like dpsing while having power heals for instant recovery.
Cleric stance + Presence of mind +Thin air + Holy and holy and holy and holy ... ahh love it!
I am interested in trying AST tho, just very low level at the moment to say if I feel comfy with it or not.
AST is by far my favorite job in the game, I enjoy WHM and feel like SCH is boring as heck. Why? Dunno. I just hate playing SCH lol
As soon as my AST reaches 70, I can see myself becoming an AST main. While my heals with WHM feel more potent and reliable, the mundane and monotonous style of the job as a whole gets really old. AST feels much more interactive, and I've been having a blast leveling it. Much like AmurT, I also dislike pet jobs, so SCH and SMN for that matter are an automatic no.
Plus, AST is much more fun to take screenshots with :D

AST is the most aesthetically pleasing, WHM is the easiest to play and SCH is the funnest. I'm lazy and usually on WHM for the simplicity of being able to play it well without my full attention on it and still chat on discord, etc.
I main SCH and AST.
For me, I prefer to play as SCH for progression, because it's better for emergency healing thanks to the oGCD Lustrates and Dissipation + Lustrates/Indom for emergencies.
For farming, I tend to prefer AST because the RNG card system makes it less boring to do the same fights over and over, since I actually have to think about how best to make use of whatever cards I draw, instead of doing the same things every run without much thought, as I do on SCH and WHM once I have mapped out when to use particular healing skills and identified the windows for dealing damage.
I do play WHM now and then too, if I'm interested in joining a particular progression group but they already have a SCH, or if I just wish to take a break from the high APM on SCH, or when I'm simply tired of the clunkiness of AST card management (the clunkiness of trying to weave card management into GCD downtime).
Sometimes, I find WHM's raw healing potency satisfying too. So yeah, I do love all three healers' mechanics :)
In terms of aesthetics, I agree that AST healing spells are beautiful and have a pretty pleasant sound too. The aesthetics for the other two healers aren't bad either, though.
In terms of job concept, I prefer SCH, but that's just me.
Sch hands down
Whm is too straight forward
Ast is fun and keeps me awake
But Scholar to me is just cool. I feel like a healer tactician. Helping prevent damage done to the party, places timed bombs that went they go off heal a massive amount, increasing dps and using skills that also temp raise defense.
The fairies are pretty neat to micro manage too but Selene needs to be looked at every since 4.0 was released.
To me I feel like I'm doing alot and it shows when you plan out your stacks with a fight you know to where as soon as everyone (or one person) takes a big hit you know which moves to use in what situation and you can adapt to pretty much whatever attack gets thrown your way.
I've played Scholar since 2.0 and I don't see that changing anytime soon (Unless dancer lives up to my personal hype)
I'm a WHM main, and I don't see that ever changing.
SCH is neat, but I don't really care too much for pet classes, and I don't feel like investing the time it would take to take my SCH play to the next level. (SCH: Easiest to learn, hard to master.) However, I really like having them as my secondary healer. In my opinion the world needs more SCH's.
I've only just started with AST here and there, so I haven't gotten to managing cards yet. A barrier AST is nice to have as a secondary. But I just HATE being matched with an AST who stays in regen stance (I'm a WHM.) It just feels to me like they're intruding on my territory/ they're trying to do the same job as me. Just feels inefficient.
I have no preference, and I love my WHM and my SCH equally. I decided to unlock and level AST as well, and my own cards tell me that I am going to enjoy playing it and will round out the trio before going into Stormblood.
If there is any thing that leans one way more than another it is that WHM is the Final Fantasy traditional healer, and I have always gravitated towards the job. At the end of the day though, my WHM gets no favoritism over my SCH. I love to play both, and have taken each of them into all the content I have ran. I am versatile and can easily switch between the two, and would say I have a fairly equal amount of skill.
I hope in the near future, I will be able to say the same about AST.
